Power to the People's itch.io page

How does your game incorporate the theme?
I interpreted "Power" as electrical power. The idea is inspired by the blackouts and power outages in spain and as we might see more in the future. A chain reaction that overloads the system and causes the lights to go out.

The concept is at its core a minimalistic city builder with rogue like elements, that plays with the balance between population and electrical power.

What bonus challenges did you complete?

Mouse only

Did you use any sort of AI during the development of your submission?

Yes

This is a really cool city builder! With correct placement, you gain more than you lose, and manage both your factories and your population, both having a hate-love relationship with each other. Really polished as well, was satisfying placing those buildings around. Well done!

thanks for the nice words :)

Awesome concept and  a really interesting game with lots of potential if you want to keep improving it.

Sometimes it seems screen panning stops to work and than starts again. Not sure if it's related with how fast I move the mouse tho. And one suggestion is to be able to see the tile effect area on hover or click the same way it's shown before positioning.

Congrats!

Developer

thank you! Good suggestion for sure!

Main menu looks super cute, good touch with the rotating town!

The mechanics of the game work very well, placing the tiles is very tactile and adding cards and the grid moves well.

I feel like it was too easy to avoid most negative effects though, as one could just develop the housing in one direction and the factories in another. A good way to improve it could have been to have cards that depended on both being close to each other.

I also felt some lack in options to gain new tiles, maybe I missed something there.

Game itself felt very good, mechanically sound and polished. Just might have needed more interesting tiles, but of course it's not easy to find these things and address them in 48 hours!

Very much impressed with the result!

Very cool game!

That was really fun! My favorite cards were the ones that affected adjacent tiles, you could also do something similar on the cost side (buildings that cost less if placed near power supply, etc.). Visuals, game feel and camera were all amazing!

Chilled out fun, I really enjoyed this!

Very entertaining, a good base for a calm evening session. Very good for my post-jam brain. Nice work!

Very cool concept ! It's simple to pick-up and engaging.

I did a few runs but was never able to go very far and kept running out of cards.
Not sure if its a balancing issue or I'm just bad at it ^^'

I think adding the possibility to set a tile aside (in a reserve or someting) instead of always  having to play it could add some extra strategy to it.

All in all it's a pretty cool entry. Good job !

great input, thank you. Yes the balancing was quite difficult. I changed in the last few minutes to have less tiles because it felt you can too easily go on forever..

I really like your suggested mechanic, it might add the missing meaningful decisions to add depth. I had before that you have 3 Hand cards and can pick which to place, which is a bit similar.
