Game Description
In this short arcade game, you play as a big sea serpent. Devour the sailors and destroy their ships as they come and go. Will you succeed in catching your lunch?

How does your game tie into the theme?
The serpent consumes the sailors. Another tie to the theme is at the end when you die, but we won't spoil that for you...

I like this game a lot but I think I'm just bad at it lol. A chill mode where you have more health or infinite health would do numbers. But as is, it's great. Solid music, solid and consistent visual style, unique and satisfying gameplay. Just a great jam game all around.

Developer

That was the idea! But after a few tweaks we decided it was probably easy enough that it didn't need it. Seeing this, I think I'll change that after the jam :) Thanks for playing!

Truly the best so far.

I love the idea playing a sea serpant / sea monster attacking ships.

I wonder though, what exact effect the jellyfish have, I only saw a combo related to them. This made me thought, if they can be used for something, like a stronger attack using their tentacles. At least something like this would be very cool.

Developer

The idea, at the time, was to have something to chain combos together, kind of like using manual and revert in Tony Hawk.

Without a jelly, your combo would end and tally shortly after reentering the water.

That obviously leans harder into the score chaser side of the game, but I do like your point about finding more weaponry!

ok, I understand now. That is also a very cool idea too

One of the best game of the Jam for sure, the controls aren't easy to get around to but it is very satisfaying to earn combos. Music is great !

Submitted(+1)

This is definitely the winner of the jam!

Developer

:) Aw, thanks!

Tons of good talent in this jam! We'll see. But we're stoked you liked it.

Extremely well made. Like others, I had problems on Mac + Chrome, but even with those problems, it still felt like a very fun and well executed game.

Developer

Sorry about the problems, but glad you enjoyed it anyways! :)

Developer(+1)

I posted a note on the jam page about the problems you (and others) have reported with Mac OS + Chromium. Thanks for giving it a go!

I wish I could ever make controls feel this good. Extremely well crafted. I love it when games give you little titles for things that give you points hahaha.

You should try and implement a scoreboard. With the scores I'm seeing here, people would go crazy.

Excellent game, I loved it!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Adding a scoreboard was the plan but it got cut sadly. We may add it after the jam, tho! :)

Fun game! I only wish it would be easier to move your tail out of the way to prevent getting hit. Over all awesome game!

Developer

Thanks! and great suggestion, we could add like a short boost that lets you move out of the way. Thanks for playing! :)

Really really fun concept.  Controls were tight and the balance was great.  Adding the cannons was actually so much fun and added a TON of depth

Developer

Glad you enjoyed! :) One of my ideas (that got cut sadly) was to make the serpent fire the actual cannon and that cannon would shoot mid-air.

highest I got was 37k

nvm I beat the arcade mode and got 622k in endless

Nice job :)

Really fun to play. I loved the screaming sounds lol. The controls feel really nice and having an infinite mode so people can compete is always a win. Really strong submission. Well done!!

Developer

Thanks! :) Glad you had fun!!

Loved the game and the theme, the color palette give me luftrausers vibes, really good.

Also amazing idea to have the interactive menu, perfect to get the hang of the controls

Amazing Job :)

Developer

Thank you!! (learned that interactive menu part from previous jam when I made space warp)

I think the color scheme you use makes the game very comfortable while playing. It took me a while to get used to the controls, but once I adapted to them, it just felt very satisfying when you multi-jump between the ships and destroy them using cannon balls. Great job!

The movement... the cannon shots... the combo meter with the trick bonuses... it's all there. I love you. No notes.

Developer

Thank you so much!!! :)

Very nice job! The game is a lot of fun and the controls feel really great as well. I really adore the art for this game, especially in terms of the color palette. All the cool colors give this game such a distinct visual style!

Excellent work!
