- Incredible game, truly amazing - and for a first time developer, it's actually so inspiring. You could put this on Steam as-is, or flesh it out into a fuller experience and sell it at a premium Indie price, fantastic work.

How does your game fit the theme?
My game fits the theme as you play as a newly trained Samurai who is seeking out all who will face him in combat. Meeting stronger and stronger opponents and learning more about their capabilities as they grow in strength!

Alright, I love a good parry mechanic. I love a good combat system. I love good sword clashing sounds. I love difficulty. So basically this game was made for me and me alone and I won't let you tell me otherwise. I only have 2 minutes to rate this so I'll make it quick. Very good game. Second to last enemy definitely had some attacks that should've been thrusts that weren't considered thrusts, but honestly that taught me the valuable lesson that being fancy is unnecessary. So for the final fight I just focused on opposite parries and beat it on my second or third try. I love this, well done.
Hesitation is defeat but now in 4 colors and for a gamejam.
This game was excellent all the way, it is simple, it is fun, the idea was amazing. it has variety inside solid rules, the presentation is charming but in this department if I'm being picky I wished enemies were more details or had something aside from the attack signal to make them stand out. When you are getting used to them it happened a lot that I lost them or thought they were still on the side of were the player was and then I was dead. Still does this keeps the game away from being a 10/10? not one bit. this is by far the most complete one of the jam I've played so far.
This is the best game in the jam. Genuienely everything was amazing. I have zero complaints with this game, so we're gonna have to get a tad nitpicky here. It wasn't explained well what counts as a thrust attack, and I never ended up using that mechanic outside of the boss made to teach the mechanic. This is fine, but it could use a little more elaboration if made into a full game. Also, for colorblind people having an option to change the bash icon or color would be great. While the game felt very responsive with sound on, deaf people can't hear that (which I simulated by muting the tab), and so some extra visual juice when parrying might be helpful. Also apparently muting the tab and unmuting it brings the ambiance back from the dead which is interesting. One last thing is that the finisher attack would feel even better if you juiced it up a bit with screenshake or particles or something. It already releases allllll the dopamine from finally beating that really hard boss, but the extra juice might make it just that much better.
AMAZING WORK!! YOU DID SO GOOD AND I HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING THIS IS YOUR FIRST JAM
I agree, some accessibility options for colours would be very good to add. As well as some general juice to make everything feel that much better! "best game in the jam" ;-; <3 im gonna cry
I'm dead serious that this is the best in the jam. It is perfectly balanced, feels amazing, fun as hell, everything about your game is pure peak. Great work!
This is fucking awesome. I love the SFX and the difficulty is just right. You introduce new mechanics at the perfect pace! Great job dude! Love it to death. Some sick ass music and more particle effects, little bit of screenshake maybe? Oooooooh. Amazing job! <3
oh some screenshake would go hard at specific moments for sure!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO goood, i just had to beat it.
its so simple, yet offers a very unique challenge it def reminds of like... snes/nes vibes in all the right ways
i did get this thing where sometimes (i think it was because i spammed f a bunch after dying) where the game would start, but the menu would still be there and then it cleared up next time i died so :p.
all in all, very well done, the game is basically shippable in my opinion. amazing job
I can def look into that issue, thank you for pointing it out ^-^ But i'm glad other than that issue you enjoyed it!
reminds me of that one Kirby Super Start Samurai minigame, the visuals are clear, the sound design is really juicy, the lack of music adds to the tension. I only got to the dude that introduces kicking (cant get past cause skill issue by my part and at this point in the jam I've no reflexes left XD ). will 100% be getting back and trying to get through all 9 once I'm rested and my brain can brain again ^-^
I'm not that good at parries but it felt quite satisfying to do them! Really good job, you did good for your first jam!
amazing game, loved it (although i'm not quite good)
Yeah it's just as addicting as I expected it to be from watching the stream. Very satisfying to win the encounters, but also weirdly satisfying to die because of the fun blood animation, lol. I guess that's a good thing with how much I'm dying. The art looks great, as you know, and I agree with others that the tense atmosphere is heightened by having no music. I can't believe it's your first game jam (is it your first game, period?) It's very polished, a great game, congrats!
I'M so happy you enjoyed it! and no, not my first game but the first ive seen to completion essentially (have worked on 1-2 games before this and have a larger main project going, so still relatively new)
Great Game Idea!! It even reminds me of Shadow Fight 2 ngl
Yoooooo i used to play that game so much! that's such a huge compliment to me <3
wow. just wow. I have no words. Incredible entry. i just want to see this with more moves, jumps, i don‘t know. just continue making this please. It‘s very, very special.
Wow this is special, this is a perfect 15/15 stars for me. ⭐

Got close to no complaints, this is a nitpick but having a level indicator would be great, other than that this is practically complete, maybe an endless mode or story mode, then you can put this up on steam haha
As a fellow newbie, congratulations on making your first game!
After struggling forever on the final boss... I realized it was the first real enemy lol
Despite my skill issue, this game is sick, like GB Sekiro! The game is tough, but fair, and feels really satisfying
My only nitpick would be that the GB palette sometimes makes it hard for me to make out the action onscreen/keep track of which character is me... maybe a more visually distinct main sprite would help?
Really nice. I was trying to learn Godot tonight and I ended up playing this. I'm not happy about it heh.
This sound effects are perfect, the blood splatter is perfect.
Really awesome game! The aesthetic is great, those squelching kind of blood splatter sound effects… amazing! The ambiance really sets the tone and makes you want to concentrate… but then you concentrate too hard and get the big ole ketchup spew in .5 seconds and que up another try haha! A really amazing game and superb first jam game!
Wow… I really liked this game! :D
From the preview this caught my attention so hard, I really like this kind of setting and this little game is great at it, no song, just sword clashing and that’s it. It was a really great atmosphere
The visuals are simple but are so good that I can see each character well. The monocolor and the contrast of the blood is also amazing
About the gameplay, it’s simple but addictive for me. I really like that the last fight tests your skills learned in this short time, maybe only 3 patterns but it’s enough to trick you many times hahaha. Also the game can be forgiving at executing the enemy, there were times I thought I didn’t press space in time and still give me the chance of doing it. The parry system feels great, I never thought it was unfair and always had fun fighting the 9 enemies
My favorite was the 8th enemy but the visual style of the last enemy it’s my favorite so the end game it’s fantastic. And not going to lie, the thought of this is Sekiro 2D crossed my mind for the parries haha
(Epic screenshot of last battle :) )
I didn’t encounter any bug or feedback to make the game better, I like as it is now, I’m fan of 1v1 fights and now in this style made me had lots of fun, I had a smile all the playthrough, I randomly found this game and I’m glad I could play this, I had to focus at the end and feels rewarding ending the game
Amazing to think is your 1st game jam, grats on submitting and keep doing games! :D
I'm so glad you enjoyed the game! It made me so happy reading this ^-^
Nice art and simple but effectif gameplay ! Great game !
Great game! great sounds, simple but fitting stylized art and addicting mechanics. Learning the patterns of enemies is fun and challenging. Not much to improve upon in my opinion. The controls are straightforward and feel good but you might be able to make them even more satisfying if you add some more hit stop to the parries. (And maybe some story would be cool too)
Awesome game! This one reminds me a lot of Sekiro with the stance mechanics. Really well made and fun to play! If I'm gonna add anything I'd just add a quick reset button because I died so much lol
super fun miniature samurai game! The mechanics are extremely simple and easy to understand, and developed well on later stages. The art is great and works well, but there could be better damage indicators and hit effects.
