Gonna be honest, I didn't finish this game. I plan to come back to it later, but currently being unable to fullscreen my game is screwing with my head too much. From what I saw, it was really well made, and I am excited to play more soon, probably after the judging period ends. Amazing work!!

How does your game fit the theme?
Itβs about the start of a humble Bardβs adventure. The very beginning.

I like the sprite work and music (volume could be a lil louder), especially the use of lighting and reflections mixed w/ old-school sprites
Was a lil confused on where I was supposed to go/what I was supposed to do besides wander around and find keys
Also died after answering the riddle? lol idk
Would be nice if the keys were either color-coded or worked on any door. It was lil frustrating to find a key and backtrack to a door I saw, only to find out it's the wrong key.
But overall a charming game!
You are totally right! It was a choice to not color code the keys. I purposely made the game confusing. There is a game I like called Gravity Bone. Itβs a FPS but when you press 2, it makes you think there should be a gun to switch to but itβs missing. I tried to do the same thing by having 3 keys labeled A, C and D with no B key. Looking back, I could have just made the doors and keys match >.<
MICHAEL MYERS!!! i explored a lot and unfortunately couldnt figure out where to go after like 15 minutes then got jumped by michel myers, but really nice game, nice art, russian folk music! the only way i found to get past a micheal myers clone without waiting forever was to tank the hit after picking up a heart.
this game really feels like an adventure! the art is really cool, love the style of the game. the music choice is really nice, sounds really haunting. i will definitely come back to this and escape that darn maze!
Thatβs such a cool rating! Purgatorial was one of the first games I played. But I guess I didnβt leave a rating. Iβll go fix that right now. I feel like our games played kinda similar so your feedback means a lot. I didnβt have much interaction besides moving so Iβm happy it felt like an adventure still.
artsytle is good β¨
Visuals and overall color palette choice gave this game a very distinct identity, especially with the shadow and reflection effect, it did look cool but it also kinda felt uncanny at times, maybe it's the overall inconsistency of the quality of certain texture I noticed. Also the maze is brutal, I was quite confused most of the time, just wandering around grabbing coins and keys. Overall a solid entry, as a fellow newbie, congratulation on finishing your first game! π
The best experience of the Bard who decided to clear the dungeon in solo.
at first I didn't understand anything, then I ran through the maze, then it became fun, and in the end I didn't understand anything either.
This was actually really cool! I don't know if you can beat the timelord or not but it was a really interesting experience altogether! Loved the sound design, the music and artstyle, everything really impressive! The UI was really confusing although the timer seemed cool, having the keys too big on my screen played a big part in me not being able to see an enemy and getting a hit lol. Overall great work! Really cool game!
The unique art, the animation, the color, the game itself, all are very impressive and I really love it. Very good entry for your 1st game jam! Great job
Excelent game! I must confess I couldn't beat it, but I liked the experience. The question of Lilith I was unable to answer because I accidentally tapped Enter before read it. And I struggled a lot to find her again. But this is a problem of mine, not a problem of the game. Congrats for the game!
Loved it, but I think I got lost in the maze like... a thousand times. Maze games are not for me, but still had a bunch of fun playing! The music was so good and it fitted the whole vibe. I couldnt get to the boss, no matter how hard I tried, so I cant comment on that one, but the rest was a great experience! Good job!
I like the visuals on the sprites (drop shadow and reflections), Music and SFX were on point. Played for about 10 mins and found a couple coins and keys but only managed to go though one gate, I will try again and get to the boss once I have more time. Overall... I like it.
Lovely visuals (especially the shadows and reflections at the start!), and really good sound mixing! The timer and the key I collected seem to be too big and stretched on my monitor, I'm not sure if it's intentional or not. Besides that, Good game!
You are way too cool for saying all that. Yeah, the off screen UI was intentional. I was trying to go for something stylish and so far everyone tells me they think they are having screen issues lol. For the sound effects, I would use two or three sound effects together whenever I needed something and I think that helped sell it. I really appreciate you taking the time to play! Thank you.
I played the maze quite a bit and i got a couple of health items and coins. I couldnβt get to the boss though :(
I really like the artstyle of the game. The reflexions and shadow look dope, and the collectible animations are very very good. The character design is nice too, and the evil laugh of the enemies made me chuckle. The death animation is suprisingly polished. Overall great first game jam entry!
The atmosphere in this game is insanely cool. It's so cozy yet... mysterious?...
I loved the reflection effect at the start! That's super cool!
I also like the mood in the maze and the music makes you go crazy xD I stumbled in there forever but I couldn't find my way xD I got 4 red coin and the letters ACD but I couldn't figure it out. I tried the good old "always go left" technique, but I must've messed it up somewhere.
Good job!
I didn't know the answer. Also could not for the life of me get hit by the enemies lol.
I struggled a lot with this game. I'm really not great at mazes. However, the artstyle was really good. I particularly liked you went through the effort of adding reflection to your character. Such an artistically awesome game!
Alright, I got a little lost, maybe my bad sense of direction is really screwing me over here, lol. The pixel art is so cute, and combined with the music and the game style, it really is reminiscent of the old Zelda games. I enjoyed this though, so I'll have to come back to it and try again.
