Yes - I'm new to game jams!
How does your game fit the theme?
We had a few ways! Our game is about putting hermit crabs into their "starter" homes by getting a hermit crab conga line chain reaction started.
But also we probably wouldn't have started this, our first attempt at making a game (I've thought about it and even applied to a couple jams but never actually overcome inertia enough to start), without this jam.

It is a fun puzzle game :)
this was super satisfying dude I really enjoyed it!
I would love a mechanic that makes it so the crabs with shells cant move on specific tiles, could open up a world of new puzzles!
As a crab man myself, I approve.
really cool idea you've developed! music and art is amazing, and i quickly got the hang of it. good job :D
This is quite a cute little idea and it is quite an interesting game to play as well. I quite enjoy that there is more than just pushing them in the right direction and you can effectively use the other snails to extend your timer and help get yourself into a better position to get all the crabs shelled. The music is downright charming as well for it. However it does seem that Levels 3 and 4 don't complete when the crabs all have shells and the quit button just causes the game to freeze up. But overall I liked it.
I really like the art and the gameplay is a nice little puzzler! I enjoyed trying to figure out just the right chain reaction to set it all off haha! The music was great as well! The only thing I'd say is I wish Hero moved just a little quicker as sometimes I knew exactly where I wanted to go but just took a bit of time to get there or get it all setup haha! Great Job all and a lovely and fun game!
This game was generally fun. Top-Down puzzlers are a pretty great genre. The puzzles in this game strike a good balance between difficulty and accessibility. They're not too hard as to be frustrating, but not too easy as to be trivial. As per the minute to minute, the movement speed is agonizingly slow, and the lack of a reload button can be an added frustration if you mess up halfway through. I also found it hard at points to figure out where the crabs would go while running due to a felt lack of consistency for turn direction when the crabs ran into a wall. (3)
The game's art is very cute and gives me a Baba Is You type vibe. The animations were functional, and the art properly communicated what the game expected. My only gripe is a lack of any particles or player feedback. (4)
The genre is pretty standard, but the spin on the formula with the crabs running is pretty novel. The connection to the theme is pretty weak (which is fair considering this jam's theme was pretty hard to work with.) Not much feedback in the creativity regard. Theme is cool, main mechanic is cool, but nothing really stands out to me as extraordinarily special. (3)
This was so fun and cute!. Made few so big brained when I solved all the puzzles. I was a bit confused at first why I wasn't passing the levels but realised the crabs had to go to a different shell. I think this could be indicated better with colours or something else. But otherwise, very fun game, very fun concept, and I would love to see more puzzle games like this in the future. I also really like the idea that you have control of where the crabs go as well if you block their path while they are running. Concept is just so nice.
Sokobans are my kryptonite lol, but that's not on you. The game is cute, I just wish I could move a little quicker; it felt sluggish. Great job ( 。◕‿◕。)
Aw so cute omg! A sokoban crab game is not what I expected, but I love hermit crabs so I'm not complaining! This is really fun and adorable, cute art and I enjoyed the puzzles. I do wish your crab could move a bit faster but that's just cuz I'm too impatient. Great job to your team!
cute game and fun when you understand what to do.
i think the reason the main concept of the puzzles is confusing is because visually each hermit crab has the same shell , but if each hermit looked like it belonged to a shell that a different hermit was wearing it would make more sense that they all need to be wearing the correct shell for the win condition.
also a reset button would be nice for those cases when you have to wait ten seconds even though you already messed up the puzzle.
also for the tutorial text try to keep it to the bare minimum you need players to know, because people typically ignore giant text blocks.
great work!
This is a neat little puzzle game, the mechanics and theme connection are cool. My only small suggestion would be to perhaps make the player a bit faster before setting off the reaction, then just freeze them once it starts, as I feel kind of sluggish pushing things around. Very well done for a first game.
Ah, my arch-nemisis from back in Pokemon RSE...ice puzzles and strength puzzles XD
All jokes aside, very pretty game, got stumped on the 3rd level and struggled with the 2nd so I only gave the last two a look and....oh goodness was I unprepared.
The art reminds me of older Windows ROMs and I adore it; the music is so simple and a lovely backing.
Great submission!!
very interesting use of the Sokoban(box pushing puzzle) mechanics. Cute art, love the crab frens, and easy to understand gameloop makes it super simple to pick up and play, if we had a "number of moves" counter, I can see this being something that I'd waste a lot of time trying to optimize to the max
Loving this style, I can feel it's aura from my screen.
Love me some puzzle games. Completed all levels. Was pretty fun. I get what the game was trying to say, but it would be nice if the hermit crabs have distinct shades of color so as to show that the previous hermit stole the other hermits shells. Also noticed the movement feels gridbase. if this is what youre trying to achieve then i think moving Hero in a more snappy way between grids would make great game feel. Overall nice game!
Cool game I really like how cute the crab looks, the only problem I had is he automatically rotated to the right, It feels like he should have stayed in the last inputed direction, that way it will look much better… And congrats on getting started :D
