Nope - I've completed at least one game jam before.

How does your game fit the theme?
half the battle of getting started is figuring out what to do. So our game relies on the player figuring out how to collect and use new ingredients to live out their noodle shop dreams

Cute penguins! Reminds me of club penguin haha. It also fits nicely with the theme.

Very interesting concept, and I'd like to see it expanded with like fried noodles, boiled + chopped fruits etc. I feel like most of my combinations always end with the ashes which was a little bit sad. Also encountered some bugs but that's fine for a game jam.

Pretty fun overall and nice art style, music and overall vibes/weirdness of the game!

So there is a boiled and chopped starfruit asset but the order that ingredients is cooked is important! The fried noodles idea is killer though <3

Really cool art you have there!

I love how y'all took the spirit of the game jam theme and put it into the gameplay! I had a lot of fun experimenting with different ingredient combinations, some to greater success than others (sorry to those who had to eat uncooked worm slop). It was nice design choice to not punish the player for getting bad ratings. I enjoyed sitting back and relaxing while running the noodle store, good vibes only.

The art and music was super charming too and pulled everything together! Awesome worldbuilding and I thought the cast of customers was awesome.

Cute and comfy game, loved experimenting doing whatever I wanted instead of being forced to make stuff the same way. I did somehow bug the game, I accidentally put two noodles in a bowl, throw it out of the screen from the left and then I wasn't able to put anything into the pot or the pan, had to feed those aliens with bowls of raw noodles, yum. It's a shame they didn't like it and gave me 0/5 stars, those entitled customers ugh.

What a cute game! I love all the little characters that come around. It didn't get tedious for me because I enjoyed the different foraging spots to get ingredients, and the character variety. I never quite got good at the pan frying, but nobody got too mad at me I guess, so I did well enough! The art was really lovely by the way, so adorable.

Developer(+1)

lol you're adorable, I love how wispy and dreamy your game is!

I really liked the game loop. You somehow managed to make worms look appetizing; I'm impressed (ง'̀-'́)ง Great job!

Developer(+1)

How do you know worms aren't appetizing? Thank you <3

The atmosphere of this game is absolutely scrumptious. I am two seconds away from frying me some worms, why'd you make them look so good >:[

The fun part of the game was figuring out what people like and experimenting with ingredients. Around halfway through I found out that you can add more than 2 ingredients to your bowl and I was like "WHAAAHT". The game is very charming!

Developer

Yes but did you try boiling them? Meaty noodles on noodles!  ;*

Thank you for playing!

I really like the art and atmosphere of the game, but found the gameplay to be a bit repetitive and not very challenging as there doesn't seem to be any kind of punishment for doing badly (to my knowledge)

Developer(+1)

part of that is the point. If you know how to consistently cook good meals, you've finished the game.

Punishing the player for cooking bad meals would really hurt experimentation. The puzzle here is essentially trial and error, and if the error is punishing then it becomes just awful.

Game looks good, it reminds me a lot of the old flash game era with its hand drawn art style. one thing i wish was that there was more of a reason to try and give the customer the best possible meal. One thing that I did like was the fact the different customer types had different food preferences which meant there was more strategy to the ingredient gathering phase.

nice looking game. took me a while to figure out to shake the frying pan... Other than that, the tutorial was great, a big help in getting me started with this game. After a few days some of the game mechanics started to fail. On the 4th day the boiling pan, the next day it was the chopping block and the frying pan. The next day it was the area where you set your plate that would not hold a new plate or any new item . Don't know if this was my incompetence or the game glitching.

A really cute game, it's really fun to explore with all the different ingredients. It's simple but changing the way you cook an ingredient to create something new and just being given the freedom to explore is really entertaining. I also like how I don't feel like I'm on a time limit, lets me focus on the creativity.

The art is very cute, brought back memories of flash games, the game loop is simple but engaging. Music was very fitting. Will be looking up for a expanded version of the game if you ever go back to work on it. ^-^

im so impressed. the number of sprites you guys had to make for each unique food item really surprised me.

(the secret song was peak)

Really whacky food combos xD I really enjoyed this one, However I would love some more sound effects, as you could Imagine from a kitchen, like water boiling, oil sizzling, chopping up worms, etc. Anyway the game concept is super well intrepeted, it just needs a few finishing touches

Developer(+1)

I agree. As the sound designer I did feel it was missing some of those sounds. I hope to add them in the near future. Thanks for playing Im glad you like the game!

Submitted(+1)

Very fun, I especially liked the music.  I was worried about not knowing what to serve who or how to prepare but after a bit of experimentation it was a rewarding, low stakes experience.

Amazing visuals! Really fun to play!

Developer(+2)

Thanks. The artist worked really hard at bringing this world to life. Im happy you liked them.

Submitted(+2)

I love that you added physics to the items XD
Throwing something at the customer if they dont like my nuddles is something else.
Also realy nice art!
The only thing is the drag and drop mechanic is a littlebit clunky.
But none the less a good game!

Developer

Well I wouldn't want nuddles when I go to a noodle stand! Thank you for playing and reviewing

Great artstyle and music! I think I lost almost 10 or so minutes just listening to the main music. I loved the concept of being just a penguin in space cooking noodles! Chill, simple and overall amazing! Great job!

Developer(+1)

THANKS!!! The whole crew worked hard to make this project. Im glad you enjoyed it so much.

Really great art and music ! I liked testing the ingredients, I wanted to harvest more of them. Getting only x1 ingredient leaves little room for experimentation

I loved the idea! The artwork really tied it together.
