This being your first game jam project is an incredible outcome! Really like this style of game, nice idea for buying new recipes as time progressed etc. I do think the days could have been shortened to keep it engaging. Just another point when I first loaded the game the coffee machine just didn't work no matter what I did, but when I reloaded the page it worked so not sure what the issue was there. Overall great job!

Yes - I'm new to game jams!
How does your game fit the theme?
My game is about an office worker who is tired of working in the office and then he starts a new path by opening a cafe.

HOW CAN THIS BE YOUR FIRST GAME? EXCELLENT!
The game is really really well polished. But I do think it would be better if the day was shorter, it would remove the feeling of getting tired
I tried all oombinations but could not get the coffee to work. I was looking around to see if I had to put a mug beneath the machine first, but I failed. My dreams to live as a barista have been crushed by cruel reality.
However, i prentended that it worked and played along, the cozy music made me feel really comfortable and and i enjoyed the selection of colors. the recipes are easy enough to remember but there a plenty to give you a challenge. What happens if I go Ice Ice Ice and make it hot though?
Had some trouble making the coffees. I clicked the Regular, Hot or Cold after I put the ingredients, and it just reset the ingredients… Luckily I was able to make the coffee after a few tries. Fun game, cool art, and nice music!
The visuals are very god. I completely forgot the customers were just pixel art sprites. The icons are pretty good so you understand what everything is. The first time I tried to play my game glitched tho and I couldn't make any coffee. There is alsoo some weird glitch where everything happens twice like in the intro and everything.. Loved the story too :). I think the gmae is a bit slow, like the days are quite long . I understnad if this is the intention so its up to you but I think adding rushes where there's a lot of customers and periods with less customers could be really good. Maybe in the future adding even more complicated or custom orders could be good. Also I don't know what the upgrades really do except unlocking new drinks. It's a game with a concept that''s welll executed, good job even more so since this is your first game jam. Thumbs up!
Good chill nice game, tho the gameplay could get a bit stale with how long days were and transitions were a bit too slow it was very nice to play, for some some reason I couldnt make the coffees clients wanted even when I unlocked it
Great cozy vibe, love the idea of unlocking so many different drink orders as the game progresses. The collecting aspect of that feels extra enticing.
On the first play did have a bug where the coffees wouldn’t pour, fixed with a restart tho 🤙.
Really liked the vibes, it didn't work to use the coffee machine the first time but I managed to do it after reloading the page. I like the graphics and the game fits the theme well. Enjoyed it overall.
"Yeah, screw this office job," got a chuckle out of me. I got a glitch on my first attempt at the game where I couldn't make the coffee at all and customers piled up quickly. After restarting the game, everything seemed to work fine, so idk what happened there. The first day's pace was really slow. I'd recommend making the day shorter or increasing the incoming rate of customers. I like the game loop and having the recipes on hand right by the coffee machine was nice. Tutorial wise, I think a show, not tell approach would be better if you intend to work on this game more after the jam. Good job ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
I really enjoyed the core gameplay and concept of the game, especially the knowledge checks in having to memorize recipes to be more effective. The presentation is good too, although I think the colors could've been pushed to a warmer tone for an even more welcoming vibe.
- On the first day, I got an upbeat music which made me expect a much faster pace, I expected more customers to show up more quickly and to struggle to keep up or remember the recipes. The slower pace is not an issue at all! But the disconnect between expectations and gameplay made me hurry to get the recipes made and left me with a lot of downtime, especially since a lot of games in this genre are fast paced rather than relaxing so I approached it with this bias.
- I've experienced a major glitch where the coffee machine stopped working at all, I had to fix it by reloading the page which made me lose progress, since there is no pause menu or way to restart a day in the game. (unless I missed it!)
- Also a minor glitch, where if you click on a customer right after they've said what they want, you can click them again and the game will give them the last beverage you've made even if you haven't made it again.
- I'm personally not a big fan of wall of text tutorial, and I feel like the mechanics of this game are intuitive enough to not need it, however this is more personal preference than actual criticism, others may need it while I don't, and that's okay!
- I also feel that the fade in/fade out for the coffee machine screen is a bit too long, again, since I expected something more fast paced, I expected to not have a lot of time to make drinks so I was a bit frustrated by the long fade in. Although, some form of fade or transition time could be used as a mechanic for the recipes list to encourage players to learn them by heart (just a suggestion!)
I hope my feedback doesn't come accross as too harsh, it's very good for a first game jam! Keep it up and don't get discouraged! You've got what it takes to make great games!!
Love the music and the artstyle! and of cause I love coffee.
Also props for making a hole intro cinematic!!
Some small tips for the tutorial: It feels a little overloaded. Try to give the player a information and then let him try it before give him the next information. I know this is harder then it sounds but it helps a lot.
Keep up the good work! really impressive for your first game jam!
Really great job for you first ever game, congrats!! Everything is presented very cleanly, and the aesthetic is very cohesive overall. The color palatte is nice and cozy and the background music fits the vibe perfectly. I liked the character design of the customers, the lack of faces gave me the feeling of a rushed barista working long hours and having the customers faces blend together due to focusing on the work. I agree with others that the transition between coffee machine and customers is a little too long. The intro cutscene was fine but could be a little shorter and was a bit generic imo. One gameplay change I think could be fun is if you had to experiment with different ingredient combinations in order to unlock a recipe and then it would show up on the recipe board after. Overall, I think you did an awesome job and I enjoyed the chill vibes of your game. Keep it up!
I really like the art style:) I did find that sometimes if you are quick enough there's waiting time for the next customer. While realistic it may be a tad slow, but still fun.
I also found a "bug" where you can give multiple customers with the same order their coffee even if you only made the one by just clicking on them all.
Very cozy, good job!
This was a really nice chill little game. I gave out my first 5 star for a category because the presentation was just that well done, it really gave off the right vibes. The gameplay does start to get a little repetitive after a while - maybe the addition of baked goods or something else to give customers could mix it up - but I completely understand how time probably didn't allow for adding something like that. Really well done overall, I was honestly surprised to see that this is your first jam. :)
Really love the concept, and the art is super cool! I think the coffee maker interface could be a bit simpler, and the transition between the coffee maker and the order-taking zone feels a bit too long. Looking forward to seeing where this goes!
I like the theme! but I feel like the theme could've been executed better.
the info dump in the beginning wasn't good, I'd suggest finding ways to introduce mechanics while the player is playing or just introduce them at a slower pace. There were several typos and grammar errors during the tutorial which made it confusing for me. And the transitions are too slow, it gets repetitive after awhile.
Overall it can be better! I like how you have attention to detail with having different colors for different drinks! ^^
A nice and chill game to relax with ! I enjoyed it nice work :)
