Oh my gosh Oh my gosh absolutely stunningggg visually.
there are some tweaks that need to happen with the movement a little bit, but the art, the gameplay, amazing fantastic!!
very cool :3
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed.
PERSONALLY, I’m a Ducker for Samurai games
Now, being serious, I loved a lot of things of this, one of them being the effects in the background, the kind of fireflies going up and dissapearing. I also really the artstyle, and as well, I really like the usual gameplay of attack + parry or dodge.
Though I have to be honest, there are some fixes that you could make for it to be even better.
Yeah, that’s it… and maybe a checkpoint just before finishing the boss? But not really as well.
In another duck fact, the scream from the Shapeshifter scared the duck out of me.
Overall, I really like it, and I hope to see more of it in the future, we need more Samurai Games like this, can’t get enough of ’em.
Do you have a license for those puns?!
I'm happy you liked the visuals. I thought that, aside from the backmost elements, everything turned out fairly nicely.
Thanks for playing.
Really cool. Graphics are outstanding. I have only a few complaints
1. The jump is a bit tight
2. The skeletons sometimes get stuck
3. It would be nicer if you spawned next to the boss fight
Otherwise the game has a really cool vibe. I love it.
Agreed. I'm glad you liked it anyway.
Fun game with amazing visuals! Seriously I love how it looks with the lighting and particles, such a cool atmosphere! And the health bar looks so cool with the animations. I don't usually play action games much, but I enjoyed the combat here, and appreciate that defeating enemies heals you. I feel like the difficulty really spiked with the second boss though (needless to say I did not beat it), I also got used to being able to block attacks completely and didn't realize I was taking damage until my character died onscreen. I think it would be nice if the respawn point was closer to the boss battle, but maybe that's just because I keep failing there. (Also, I noticed that the first tutorial text says W, D to move, when I think it should be A, D?)
Overall, really well done, I'm super impressed!
Lmao, nice catch; it should definitely be A, D. The second boss fight was the last boss fight, so you didn't really miss out on much afterwards. The block/parry needed a better explanation. As for the taking of damage, there's almost always more a dev can add to making taking damage feel more impactful. I got a bit lazy this time around and omitted certain FX: a vignette to darken the screen momentarily when damaged, a red vignette when low on health, muffling of sounds momentarily when damaged, etc.
For all its faults, I still thought the game came out pretty neat. I'm glad you enjoyed the game.
Fun: amazing, really fun combat, you nail and attack and block, the platforming was good as well
Presentation: great work, the light system is good, the character design and animation is good, the boss was amazing, great work
creativity: great idea, starting your journey, fits the theme well, wish there were more abilities other than attack and block
Great work, one of my favorites so far
I'm glad you liked it so much.
You're welcome. Are you gonna turn it into a full game? It seems worth it, I'd love for you to try my game, I'm sure you're gonna love it 😁. It's a platformer, so we could learn a thing or two from each other
Pretty cool! The simple controls made it easy to pick up, but it encourages you to nail each mechanic as you fight tougher and tougher enemies.
Thanks for playing.
I wish it had a browser option it looks so good I can download and play bcuz I have android
I'm happy you're interested. A browser option is something I've kept dragging my feet on. I've had various technical issues with Unity's WebGL in the past, and thus haven't been all too excited about it.
Although it would probably allow my game to yield more reviews...
The thumbnail of this game already attract i good amount of attention. During the boss fight thought , the lumination of the game with the amount of visibility of the game because of the darkness , it can be hard to see what i am doing for a couple times. But all in all it does not affect the perfomence that much.
I'm glad you liked it.
The lack of outlines for the characters, while (I find) visually appealing, can present issues with visibility. I tried adding a light source to the player, but it's mostly overwhelmed by the boss's bright red light.
Absolutely fantastic. Honestly fighting that second boss was a blast. The first boss was kinda annoying, but the second one felt so satisfying.
The first boss was meant as a joke boss, but I don't think I explained the parry mechanic sufficiently well, leading to it being awkwardly difficult. I'm glad that didn't stop you from making it to the second boss; I put a lot of work into it.
Thanks for playing.
This is great and the art movement and fighting feels so nice, it made up for losing over and over its just so satisfying to hit.
One thing is you can just skip every monster in the game by dashing away from it. the first boss isn't really a boss it's basically only a forced fight. The second one is really unfair because if it corners you you're basically dead. but I'm proud to say I beat that thing lol.
Overall such a great game I loved it so much.
The cornining aspect was a problem. I'm glad you like the game feel of the attacks. I put effort into them. The first fight was meant to be a joke fight, but without a proper tutorial on how the parry works, it proved to be a harder fight than it should have been.
I'm glad you managed to make it to the second boss, let alone beat it. Thanks for sticking it out, and for playing.
The visuals and shaders are really good! The parallax was also well implemented. The attack feels really impactful and the effects make it feel so juicy. Nicely done!
I'm glad you liked the look. The parallax is actually implemented very easily. The game is in perspective, not orthographic.
Thanks for playing.
This is an amazing game, it's so impressive that you made something like this in just 10 days. I really enjoyed it.
The art, music and the atmosphere you created using particles and lighting, it all fits together so well
The last boss was so hard I couldn't beat him, but the fighting him was so fun, maybe you could add an option to heal? that would've helped with beating him, couldn't quite figure out the parrying but that just takes practice.
I'd really like seeing a full game of this!
Good job!
The parrying needed a better explanation. I feel it's a lot easier than the game makes it out to be. I forgot about a healing mechanic, and lazily added a mechanic whereby you heal a bit after dealing damage; though I didn't do anything to really communicate (especially in the heat of battle) that you have received any HP.
I'm glad you liked the atmosphere. The final boss was definitely hard; I think I just need to have others playtest the game more (and sooner).
Thanks for playing.
Really nice game! I love the atmosphere, dark moody but with all these nice lights. The pixelart is also super cool. Amazing.
At first I thought the blocking is a bit too strong, but then the boss happened xD Which was awesome to fight against. It took me way to many times to get him, but it was really fun.
One thing I personally wouldve like, would be a checkpoint right before the boss, so I dont have to keep fighting the little guys. But that's just my preference, of course there are many games that don't do that either. To be fair after 2 times dying i just walked passed them anyway xD
I was honestly just lazy with the respawn system; I don't personally enjoy corpse run mechanics, which this unfortunately is reminiscent of. I'm glad you enjoyed it regardless.
Thanks for playing.
I wasn't able to defeat the boss since I'm limiting myself on the time I spend on each game but I had fun, and the atmosphere of the game is great, good job
If you have the time go give my game a spin as well, I would love some feedback
Ideally, I might have reduced the boss's difficulty (even if it's just reduced after the player dies). Glad you enjoyed it.
Sick pixel art! this is very visually satisfying to play!
The music and SFX are great, Shapeshifter boss was so cool! Love the vibe this game is going for.
Overall not much I can add besides more enemies and such, this game was fun and cool! great job! ✨
High praise, thanks. I'm proud of the last boss.
Awesome game! I especially liked the atmosphere created by those fireflies and swinging lanterns and the combat was pretty solid as well. I didn't quite defeat the boss though
I'm glad you enjoyed the atmosphere. Thanks for playing.
The game is great. I liked the design for the level, especially the mountains in the background. The parry mechanic is also pretty fun to use. The only thing id say would be to add a few more frames to some of the attacks to better indicate when they are coming. But even without doing that you can learn the timing of the attacks pretty quickly.
PS
the parry felt very good
Thanks for the kind words and the feedback. I feel the parry mechanic was decently made, but I think it needed a better explanation; I'm glad you managed to figure it out anyways.
Thanks for playing.
Stunning pixel art, detailed animations, good combat feel, adhesion to theme, outstanding particles and illumination. Sound Effects were on point. I didn't feel the parry mechanic janky tho, it was good and fair for me. However, if you look into upgrading the combat, one thing that didn't feel so satisfactory was hitting with the sword. Parry gave cool particles and colored sword, but hitting locks you in place a bit too much for me.
Overall a very solid game :) btw second boss design and spritework is amazing.
Great feedback. The first one was meant as a bit of a meme, but without a proper explanation of the parry mechanic, it proved a lot harder than intended. I'm pleased to hear you made it to the second boss.
Amazing art! The gameplay was pretty decent but the parry mechanic felt a bit janky. Still a good game though!
Hey, I'm glad you liked the visuals. The parry mechanic definitely needed a better introduction.
Thanks for playing.
