End life plan
It will stay downloadable, I am looking to create a small template that will allow other game developers to use this game to start their own creation or build inspiration from it. I will be sharing the source code via my github page , hoping to save it to the archive there as well as itch.io
Also looking to potentially add to it in my spare time and if it builds a small following I may even add more customized systems and develop the game further. Would be nice to see.

Transparency note
I started the Game Jam quite late. None of the game was done before hand, I opened the IDE and started to formulate a sorted structure for the folders and where I wanted assets to call from. There was a section of the code I was unfamiliar with how to convert it's syntax to GML and asked ChatGPT but ended up scrapping the 'solution' it came up with. This was for a collison mask creation code and later didn't end up in the submitted project. Only time A.I was used for the Game Jam.
The lightbulb reference photo used was from Amazon and it was for a SUK EU Lightbulb that showcased a heart formation for the filament, I thought it would work well if I used this as a pixel style for the game's player character.

Thank you for taking the time and consideration to evaluate this project and I hope you enjoyed playing the prototype! Thank you for putting on this Game Jam, I learned quite a lot from it and look forward to seeing what the rest of the community comes up with

Best regards,
- CrypticTM

Great for two days, interesting concept that could be fleshed out further.

I played the continuation, and it improved on the sound and levels a lot, however I still think there should be some mechanic to use the brightness.

Interesting submission! Even though I got stuck at one of the levels (orbs kept respawning and there were no enemies left), I had fun playing it!

Developer (1 edit)

thank you for playing! The third level acted as a 'endless' mode for the time constraints.  New additions have been made ! (https://cryptictm.itch.io/filament-fade-continued)

Hey !

I love this game bro , great idea! keep up...

I will be also happy if you rate my game  : /jam/stop-killing-games-game-jam/rate/3724252

It looks like the old-school games, which puts more deepness and mysteries into the game...

I also got stuck on an endless level(?)

Anyway, it was actually great!

Submitted(+1)

It kinda reminded me about World's Hardest Game with its movement and orbs. Fun and addictive game - I like it!

I assume the last level is the endless mode? It would've been a bit more challenging if enemies were respawning in this mode, since right now you can safely bump into every enemy and keep collecting respawning light orbs indefinitely.
I still think it's a good effort, keep making more games!

PAC-bulb-MAN!

Submitted

Very basic but it shows how a little bit of narrative can make the player want to see where it's going

Developer

Thanks for checking it out! Your feedback is appreciated, looking forward to adding more narrative to the game after the Game Jam !

What a nice little game. I like it. Reminded me of some old school games.

Developer(+1)

That was the idea! Thank you so much for checking it out!

Kind of like Pac-Man but with the limited lifetime theme, not bad!

Developer

Appreciate the comment ! Hope you enjoyed playing

It was pretty fun and the graphics reminded me of the OG Doom and my only complain was that the sound effects weren't too good and that the only way to die was to die on purpose as the game is way to easy. still really nice concept and test build

Developer

Hmm.. Are you sure you played this one?  I only joke - but I don't recall adding any sounds to the project (yet) due to time constraints.
Thank you so much for checking it out and let me know what you'd like to see added/improved.

Very good

Developer

Thank you! What did you find good ? Anything you'd like to see added or improved upon?

I had gotten a good route down so i was lapping the screen and getting back to the start as things were respawning lol. Started to feel liked id never run out of time lol. Ended up letting it countdown just to see what would happen. It was a fun game though. Can't deny that.

Developer

Thank you! If you end up getting a chance to play the downloaded version. There is a small leaderboard that saves an ini file within the game files. It can be used to track your bests.

Hope you enjoy and keep posted there will be updates as I plan to continue development for atleast six more months (:

Creative interpretation of the theme,  keep it going with more stuff, well done.

I saw this and thought the light bulb was a cool idea :)
Got to play it and I enjoyed my time, felt pretty relaxing, actually. I know how it is with game jams and the scope we wish we could accomplish, but I'd like to check it out when you add some updates and if you keep working on it!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing the game, your feedback is appreciated a lot ! I'm glad you also found it to be a 'bright' idea!
Looking forward to adding more to the game!
(Sounds, UI/UX adjustments, polishing, more enemy types, powerups, room transitions, color gradient patterns, etc)

Just rated you game and I wanted to leave a comment saying I really liked it! I appreciate the time you put into the store page and into the end of life plan. I know you had some issues with the web version but not having to download a submission makes it more accessible to a lot of people. If you plan to work more on the game in the future, my only advice would be to lessen the amount of orbs. I found myself almost above half light my entire playthrough and wish I felt more of a stress / struggle to reach an orb to stay alive. Besides that, sprites are great, movement is smooth, and the shadow enemies are awesome. Great submission! Also, if you have any time, check out my submission and let me know how I did!

Just wanted to say I really appreciate the feedback on the game! I enjoyed taking time to figure out the different mechanics I wanted to implement.  For sure! Definitely taking a look at each and every submission within the next few days. Keep up the great work yourself! Super proud of everyone for doing their best in the Jam!
