End life plan
It will stay downloadable, and I might even export it to some Linux distributions. Don't really count on me to create a MacOS build, though, because I don't own a Mac. It's also likely that I would share the files for the Godot project because my game isn't very good or well polished.
Transparency note
Each and every part of the game was created during the jam because I joined the jam a few days after it started. Everything made in the jam period includes the Godot project, code, assets, music, and sounds. Licensed sounds and fonts were not made during the jam period, of course.
All code was handwritten. Some code might have been pulled from Godot's documentation or forums when I was stuck.
All images and pixel art were created with LibreSprite and sometimes tweaked using GIMP. Most images were made manually, but some were made by taking pictures and having them modified.
I created all the music myself using Bosca Ceoil: The Blue Album and BeepBox. About half of the sound effects were generated with jsfxr or recorded with Audacity.
The fonts and the rest of the sounds were grabbed from DaFont and Freesound. All of the external assets from Dafont and Freesound had the CC0 license (or in the case of DaFont tagged as "100% Free").
I will admit that I have attempted to use AI to help fix and help create some (arguably) few lines of code. But no AI was used for any other part of the game, and the AI generated code would not work sometimes.
Other times I asked LLMs to explain *verbally*, step by step, how I could fix a bug or code something instead of directly copying the AI generated code into my project. I'm not really sure if this counts as AI generated, though, because if I took into account how much in percent my project would be AI generated, it would be about 3% or less. Plus, itch.io does not mention AI generated code in their AI disclosure guideline (/docs/creators/quality-guidelines#ai-disclosure). This is why I'm leaving my project marked as not AI generated for the time being until I decide if it truly does contain AI generated content.

Had an interesting experience with this one. Played through it once normally, thought it was cool, decided to try and play it again. This time I wanted to try and get to the end but not have to sit through the whole creepy section on every death, so I went into %appdata% to try and find the user data and delete it so the game would start normally. I could not find the data. At the time I thought you used some insane deep Godot trick to store the files somewhere besides Appdata, and I decided I had been defeated and moved on to play some other jam games.
Revisited this after the voting period ended, decided to decompile the game to see what exactly you did. As it turns out, the Appdata folders of your project and my project had the exact same name: "SKG Jam". Lo and behold, file0.txt was sitting in my own project's user data folder, hiding right under my nose the whole time.
Cool game btw
Peak.
yes
thanks for playing :D and sorry for the long cutscene :/
deleting file0.txt (which is located in AppData) does indeed put you back in the beginning without having to replay the cutscene after death over and over. im planning to somewhat "fix" this by making the dying cutscene shorter and curing the game's dementia.
also, if you didn't know, it's possible to skip the cutscene after death by immediately pressing Alt+F4 once you die, as file0.txt does not get written to AppData until about 8 seconds pass.
im glad you decompiled my game (cause no one really did that to one of my games before). i actually plan to share the project files after finishing this demo under a permissive-ish license, probably MIT, but i would have to learn Git and create a GitHub account first.
once again, thanks for playing my game, and have a nice day :D
Good platformer :D
Lovely logo XD This was such a unique experience!
thanks :D
Amazing game, the only gripe I have with it is the dev screen, it just kind of drags on for too long, I wish there was a way to speed it up, especially when I die multiple times. Kind of funny how we came up with a similar meta idea.
thanks for the feedback! i plan to update the demo after the voting period so that the game would speed up the cutscene (or make it somewhat shorter) once you die for the second time. it can get really annoying after a while...
and, yeah, i find it quite funny too that we both came up with a similar idea...your game is also really nice by the way :D
(sorry if i wrote my comment under your submission in a bit of a rude way - i should have probably been more constructive with my feedback ;-;)
interesting
good game :D
thanks :D
Was NOT expecting that! Very creative game indeed.
I did NOT expect the sudden twist. It caught me off guard.
I would like what could happen next (I went to level 7, then it gets a bit difficult).
This is very good.
Also, I think I went too far...
thank you so much for playing! and yeah, the game gets pretty hard from level 7. level 9 is the hardest level in the whole game (in my opinion, at least). there are a total of 11 levels in the entire game (excluding the tutorial) and only one true ending (or more of an unsatisfactory "to be continued" ending 'cause this is a demo after all), so you just have to get all the way to the end. it could take 10 to 30 minutes if you start from the beginning.
also, dang. didn't think anyone would find that secret. what happens here is the g̸a̴m̶e̵ ̸f̸r̸e̴a̷k̶s̵ ̷o̵u̵t̴ ̶w̴h̵e̵n̸ y̴͕͌ǫ̸̎u̴̙̤̇́ ̸̪̊͜g̵̲͔͊ơ̷͔̤ ̵̯͕̂̃ő̶̰̼u̷̢̅t̵̟̜̂͑ ̷̙́ọ̵̑̄f̴͈̱͆ ̷̹̌b̴̜̂o̶̢̦̚u̴͎͋̀n̵͍̚͝d̶̲̮̿͑a̵̲͋ṙ̶̉͜i̷͇͕͐̕e̷̒̊͜s̶̤͆ ̵̝́ă̵̛̬n̷͚̓d̴̤̕ ̴̙̭̿s̵̤̈́̾t̶̳̃a̶̗̅ŗ̸̈́͊t̴̟̂̾s̴̯̭̍̑ ̸̪̈́ḽ̸̯̀ô̸͖ạ̷̼̉̈́d̴̨͛i̸͉͙̊n̶͙̆͂g̴͙̑͐ ̶̧̣̓i̴̘̙̕n̶͉̝͌̀v̴̛̭̪̋á̸̧l̴̨̰̽̏i̸̯̰͌̓d̷̫̼̍ ̵͚͎͗̍t̵̝͆̀i̴͖̋͑l̷̠̩̑ẹ̴̀̿ ̶̠̹̑̆d̵̗͈͂̕a̶̢̩͠t̷̥̅̕à̴͈͝ ̵͖̥̂͝ḟ̵̡̑r̴̢̹̿o̴̗͑̉m̷͙̞̆̆ Ṟ̴̺̜̽̿̅̚͜Ǎ̴͉͈͇̈͆͊̾Ṃ̴̤̟̓̇ ̴̢̛̹͈̰͌̒̾͜͝e̷̜̓͗v̸͖͔͍͋ͅe̷̺̤͗̊̂̎n̷̳͆͗̈́̆ͅ ̸̈́̓̈́́ͅṯ̸̡̔̏̾̈̂h̵̩̯̬̟͐͛̂̂ō̵̭̠͕͇̚͝ù̸̡͓̗͚̤g̸̬͉̤̼̃͛̀͋̈́h̴̳̝̯̅̉͑̋̊ ̴̲̖̑̏̉̀͝t̸͈̊͊̋͊̿h̷̡̛͎̟̻̑̿͝ȁ̶̪̿t̷͖̹͈̉͑̃̍ͅ ̴̖̈́̓̆͠m̵̧͉̣̙̀e̵͓̠̖͔̱͗̈́͂ȧ̶͈͙̞̮̎̈́ṇ̸͕́s̷̭͒͐̚

At first I thought you were explaining too much, (sometimes you gotta let the player find out things forhimself), but it seems this is like some sort of metagame. In fact most of the game seems kind of meta in different ways which makes it kind of hard to give feedback because anything can be part of the "joke".
It was interesting to see the conversation after I died the first time, it reminded me what some experimental flash games did a while back. Maybe the second time the player dies it should be possible to skip the text or go faster because it takes too long. I mean, The idea requires the player to explore a bit, but exploring kind of punish him at the same time, I hope this makes sense.
Anyways, You are doing some interesting things here, good luck with your game!
thanks for playing! and yeah, i get how frustrating it is to restart over and over again only to listen to the narrator's monologue.. i am planning to make a new update after the voting period so restarting would be quicker (at least, for the second time)
Right away I was thinking "wow this is surprisingly tight for what it is" and then I stood next to the lava. It's been a long time since something like this got me.
Saw that this game had very few ratings and gave it a try. It was better than I thought it would be, and I think the best thing about the game would be the story. It's simple, yes, an entity that wants to destroy this game (Probably the Ubisoft CEO in disguise), but it was surprisingly intriguing with the 4th wall breaks. Platforming is a hard because you only have one chance to complete everything, but levels go by pretty fast so it wasn't the worst issue. Also, I don't really know how this game fits with the theme (Maybe the game being destroyed?), but again, I haven't finished the story yet, so who am I to say. Anyways, good work.
thanks for the feedback!
and i can confirm that the main antagonist is, as a matter of fact, Ubisoft's CEO in disguise

i like how the game is kind of meta and speaks to you directly, the player. I found the story very interesting, but couldn’t complete the game ;-;. it was just too difficult but i tried my best. i would have liked that the dying cutscene would only play ONCE, not everytime you died because it took too long to finish.
for anyone having this issue, try to press ALT + F4 before the warning textbox appears!!
yeah, it can be hard and frustrating at times :/
i just sort of wanted to make the dying cutscene look like you did something terrible, but yeah, it can get old very, very quickly
it's also possible (like you said) to cheese the game by pressing Alt+F4 immediately upon death. this allows you to restart the game much quicker. i left the bug in because it really helped with testing the game by myself and also meant i didn't have to dig into the game's files to delete my save manually. i might try creating a second build with the death cutscene being much shorter so it doesn't slow you down. thanks for the feedback!
