Really fun! Probably one of the best executed "orbiting-style" games I've played this jam. Great work!

Super cool mechanics! I love the gravity part! I feel like it's missing some game feel in the impact, but still feels very good beating the enemies!

Submitted

This was cool! Bit hard to control but chaotic in a positive way.

Like the concept, especially how you change gravity depending on the which planet you're closest to. Works well with how you changed the mechanic to better fit the theme.

This feels like 2023's theme applied to all of the spaceship-in-orbit asteroid avoidance games - once you get the hang of gravity, you really feel like this scuttling little creature punching way above her weight class, very sonic the hedgehog.

Thank-you! I am glad our intent managed to shine through the tricky controls!

Liked the concept, looping for speed really stretched my brain! I struggled to control the speed though and often ended up in the middle of space. :)

Developer

This has been a big lesson in stage design for us on how to teach controls. Appreciate the feedback!

This game is adorable! It's fun to alternate between the up and down mechanic to control your movement, fun stuff!

Submitted(+1)

Fun mechanic, like the idea! But really hard to master tho...

Submitted(+1)

Fun momentum. Tricky controls.

A fun and interesting take on the gravity based games. Love the momentum. Nice art too.

This is such an interesting and creative mechanic! Although I wasn't great at controlling it, the movement was so smooth and satisfying that I had fun with it regardless! I do wish I could both slow down and increase gravity at the same time to get back to the planet after flinging myself off into space, though. Overall, nice game!

I really want to thank-you for the inciteful feedback. To give the full backstory from the programming perspective, I chose not to let players press both because it would have required another sprite and our artist was already behind with the time we could dedicate to the jam. I also assumed no one would want to do that.

To get technical: When not touching a planet, the player experiences an acceleration force relative to the distance from each plant just how gravity works, "slow down" applies a force relative to the current velocity like moving through a fluid and "increase gravity" is actually a constant force to the target planet (so technically not how gravity works, but is intuitive to players because we spend our lives at ground level).  The 3 forces all being relative to different things creates a decent that is just as confusing to control if you can do both (theoretically) and perfect play would never press both.

In retrospect, that was a mistake. I didn't test that assumption and took away the freedom from the player. Will learn for next time.

Very nice and challenging gameplay. I couldn't really figure out the controls well but still managed to get to the final stage somehow. Some music could have been nice and maybe a bit of auto-aiming towards enemies but other than that I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks for making this game!

Developer

It takes some skill to get past the sun stage! Good job.

Really addictive once you get the gist of it. Sadly no soundtrack but otherwise really fun !

Developer

Yea, we found we both don't know how to do soundtrack yet.

Submitted(+1)

Addictive and creative, but too difficult to control ><

Submitted(+1)

There's been a few orbit-looping games but this one was the most fun I've played!

Submitted(+1)

Very unique controls and lovely cover art! I like the puzzles and the movement, but I couldn’t quite figure out how to get around the sun. The visuals were very nice, though I wishthe main character was a tad bigger or clearer. A fantastic concept for the game, and well executed too. Great work!

Super fun!! Ah I loved everything about this game but the art was definitely a highlight--fantastic job!!

FRUSTRATINGLY DIFFICULT. Orrrrrr maybe I'm just bad KAJSHJKAHSKJAHSk Good Game!!!!

Developer

It is very difficult at first. Glad you stuck to it till keyboard smash!

Submitted(+1)

interesting idea. seemed a bit weird to have space be pause (also f11 doesn't really work on web). the boss fight felt tedious but apart from that it was still an interesting game

Developer

Yea making it a html game was last minute. We will learn for next time!

INCREDIBLE character design. Awesome concept that could come out incredible with some post-jam polish

Developer(+1)

Thankyou so much! We are considering giving it a post jam makeover, but we are grateful for the learning opportunity we got from it already.
