I felt bad that there is no average score, because some teams aimed for all categories, not just one. So I just scrapped the results page and made a table. I agree with "Mark" that "Overall" is questionable, but I still think "Average" is a valuable score, so I decided to share it.
Hey guys! Hope you don't mind me sharing it - I calculated the average, and you place #26 in the overall ranking. Which is lit! Congrats, you really deserve it!
Yooo thanks! It's a real shame that they didn't include the overall ranking in this jam, as we feel like we did very well throughout. Would you mind sharing your work? We'd love to see the ranking
Didn't expect to see a Metroidbrania in a game jam.
Well done!
Although, I was confused by the second half of the final combo instructions...
I thought they said that we could create fire *anywhere*.
Also, even after watching the walkthrough, I can't pull off the final jump.
I can't summon the dung in midair - it just stays on the ground and ignores me.
oh, well you can create it anywhere so long as you get high up enough. Mmm I wonder why you aren't able to summon the dung in mid air. You should be able to do it so long as it has already landed. Keep in mind that you can only do it once before landing on the ground
Managed it in nine loops and did not explore as much as I should of, so definetly a game to return to.
Thanks for playing! We hope you enjoyed :)
Btw we’re thinking about making it a full game, so keep an eye out ;)
Love the art.
Thanks a lot! :)
The art in this one is soooo goood! The narrative ties in with the theme in such a cute but creative way too! Repeating the mountain does feel a bit tedious after a bit, but learning how to speed things up is really fun!
Thank you so much! The artist really nailed this one, we’re glad you enjoyed :)
Thanks for playing!
Super cute art (though some of the grass did confuse me for spikes quite a few times), really fun looping metroidvania concept, all around a really great time, good on you!
Thank you for playing! We’re glad you enjoyed our little game :)
Btw we’re making an even bigger metroidvania called Soulchain (on Steam), you should check it too ;)
Hello There,
WHAT A PERFECT GAME!
You guys did amazing. REALLY!
I thought the art was beautiful and the gameplay was super enjoyable. The controls were responsive, and the ball and character physics were great.
The tutorials embedded in the scenario make learning the game intuitive and fun, as well as encouraging exploration.
Congratulations, everyone. Regardless of the outcome, for me, it's you.
Eae gente,
QUE JOGO PERFEITO!
Gente, vcs mandaram bem demais.
This is straight fire through most of the experience. The only hurdle was the bit at the end where I knew what to do but I just couldn't get the combo to go off consistently, mainly due to that somewhat awkward jump. Remarkably well designed, charming, and funny. I honestly couldn't tell you how to improve this.
Thanks a lot! We hope you enjoyed and thanks for playing! :)
Great artworks and mechanics! Overall, a very polished game!
So glad you like it! <33 Thanks!
Wow a solid entry in this jam. Great character design with complimentary mechanics and level design, disclosing more mechanics as you go. Wonderful gem that deserves all the attention it receives!
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it! :)
THAT'S SO KIND thank you!! ;o;
nice game but it seems unplayable on trackpad :(
Thanks! And yeah, it's better with a mouse, we hope you can play it properly some day!
The fact that you have all you need form the start and only have to learn you have it is fantastic. Great use of combing moves as well. Super satisfying to pull of chains of abilities. My only complaint is that the end timing feels a bit tight. I did everything (I knew of at least) near perfectly and barely squeaked through. That's not going to stop me from giving this game 5s across the board though. You all deserve it!
Thanks a lot! Hope you enjoyed our game :)
Yeah the end can be tight, but you can get the hang of it!
Very good spin on the metroid-brainia theme I've seen a lot of this jam, you've also made the actual learned mechanics feel EXCELLENT to pull off, they have that payoff I see a lot of people compliment about Celeste where the mechanics you need were something you could always do, with the final skill simply being a combination of all the abilities at once. I felt like a Mario Odyssey speedrunner near the end (The way the slopes of the map unfold into a mechanical playground also felt similar to my experience with the movement mechanics of Dustforce), good stuff.
I think my only recommendation would just be to do more of what you're already doing. More visual polish, more sound design, and more of a world to explore. If your upcoming steam title has this level of appreciation for design (And from the looks of things, it does), I can absolutely see it becoming a darling indie shortly after release.
Wow that's so kind of you! Thank you so much for your words and for playing too! We hope you enjoyed our little game ;)
Yeah we're already thinking about making this a full game, so keep an eye out! And you can be certain that we have this level of appreciation (and even more!) for Soulchain, we hope it becomes a darling indie, thanks again! :))
Best sisyphus game for sure! Knew doing a 2d take on it would be wild.
Wow another Sisyphus game 🤝
Glad you like it, thanks a lot! :))
100% best game of the jam, no other feedback i just love greek mythology and hollow knight so this is just amazing
Wow that’s kind of you! Thanks for playing, we’re glad you like it :))
Btw you should check the other game we’re making called Soulchain (on Steam), we’re using hollow knight as a reference too! ;)
will do
Thanks!
Shakes your hand. HK and mythology lovers rise!! Thanks a lot <3
Crazy you made Outer Wilds in so little time lol
lol thanks a lot! Glad you like it! :)
Btw we’re making another game that has Outer Wilds as a reference, called Soulchain (it’s on Steam), you should check it too ;)
That's such high praise I hope you know HAHAHA it's one of my top 5 favorite games, glad that the intention got across <3 thanks!
Loved the game the whole playthrough, it honestly might be my favorite from this jam! I really like how you had access to all the skills from the beginning but unlocked the knowledge with each playthrough. The platforming was really fun and the timed element made speed running a nice and intense challenge. This game is great!
That’s kind of you, thank you! We’re happy you love our little game, thanks for playing :)
Btw we’re making another knowledge based metroidvania called Soulchain (it’s on Steam), I think you’ll love it too ;)
I always love bug characters (yes, I’ve played Hollow Knight) so this art style is already a win in my book! There’s so much polish in the little details in the environment and animations, I’m impressed this was made in 2 days: excellent work you guys!
Thank you so much! We’re glad you enjoyed! :)
Btw we’re making an even bigger metroidvania called Soulchain (it’s on Steam), you should check it later too ;)
Exceptionally good game for a jam, because I seriously think that with a little polish and some way to shorten the game (maybe I’m biased towards that because *) this could be a perfectly enjoyable, cheap, short experience I would definitely buy. And I hope I can do it in the future!!! -SPOILER- *: I REALLY struggled to understand the double-click control tutorial. I thought it was telling me to first click one, then the other; hopefully I did not abandon right there but it took me like 15 extra minutes lol. PD: Soul Chain looks cool, looking forward to it :)
Thank you so much! We’re glad you enjoyed our game and thanks for playing :)
Btw we’re already thinking about making it a full game, so keep an eye out! And thanks for wishlisting Soulchain :))
