Really fun!

Developer

Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed our game!

Polished game, got me a bit hooked trying to get the highest score I could. Audio and art is sick, loved the added touch of the music changing pitch as you put down the path for the boomerang. Added touches like that which makes this game feel really complete!

Just wish the jam was longer so I could see what other elements you didnt have time to chuck in be added to the game,  great work guys!!

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it! We had a bunch of extra ideas that could’ve given the game more depth (like a levelling/perks system, a dash mechanic with stamina, and more advanced enemies), but we only had so much time on our hands so we focused on just polishing what we had.

This game is very addictive! The mechanics are great, the impacts from the boomerang are really satisfying and the different kinds of enemies force you to adapt your gaming style.

Developer

Thanks for playing! We hope you had a good time with it. We wanted to have those different enemy types to make the player carefully consider their flight path and get them to quickly decide where they should focus their attention.

Really cool mechanics and excellent use of the theme!

Game felt super polished and loved the art style, good stuff :D

Developer

Thanks for playing, we hope you enjoyed it! We tried to keep the scope reasonably tight so that we could have a more polished final product, given the limited development time.

Pretty fun game, really neat. It feels very polished to play with all the feedbacks (visual and audio). I like the take on the theme as well. It gave me this Zelda Phantom Hourglass vibe with the boomerang ahah

Good job :D

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it! You hit the nail on the head mentioning Zelda - that was one of the primary influences for the mechanics of this game!

Submitted(+2)

wow, this is a really polished game. congrats.

main menu, settings. music and sound effects. and I really liked all the different hit animations. It was a bit difficult for me to reliably create a loop in the heat of the battle (the snakes swarmed me a bit), but I managed to get a score of 125 points.

thanks for providing a linux build too.

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it! If we had more time, we would have tweaked the balance a bit further, but we were in a bit of a rush at the end.

Glad to hear someone used the Linux build! I use Linux for development so it was no issue creating that version too.

The combination of boomerang and lasso is brilliant—such a clever and fun idea!

Throwing the looperang felt really satisfying, especially when succesfully looped. Actually, even failing when hitting the gold is surprisingly satisfying by the perfect SFX!

My only issue is the lack of progression. Sure, more enemies show up over time, but they don’t really change the gameplay. You’re still running around and throwing looperang loops at them, and their presence doesn’t meaningfully affect how you play.

That said, the core idea is solid, and the mechanic itself is genuinely fun to use. It just needs a bit more depth to make the gameplay feel rewarding over time.

Overall, a good entry with a lot of potential!

Developer

Thanks for playing, and the detailed comment! We’re glad you enjoyed it.

And yeah - we agree that there’s a lack of progression. If we’d had some more time, we would have implemented more systems, like being able to level up, more advanced enemies, possibly a dash move, etc.; unfortunately, we didn’t quite manage to get there.

Pretty nice game, I really liked the idea and enemies.

And also, nice pixel art!

Developer

Thanks for playing, we’re glad you enjoyed it!

My co-creator worked on the art for the game, he’ll be super happy to see your comment!

Super cute game! I thought the draw mechanic was integrated really well and overall the theming was very cohesive! Well done with the kangaroo design too - had a good chuckle when one first appeared on screen :)

Developer

Thanks for the lovely comment! We’re proud of the work we put into the game, so we’re thrilled to hear that you liked it!

Super cute game, with great game feel. Really juicy effects when you hit enemies and loop them up. It took me a while to figure out I had to loop up the points, so I definitely left a lot of points on the table during my run. Also, it seemed like maybe the snakes don’t get affected by the slowdown while aiming? Unless they are just way faster than all the other enemies.

Made it to the kangaroos, and I loved their art design :)

Also, I have never seen such threatening-looking Koalas xD

As an aside, you should try our game! We made a similar concept, but with a different throwing mechanic. We considered a mechanic more similar to yours one at some point but ended up going a different direction, so it was neat to see what that felt like, and y’all made it feel good!

Developer

Thanks for playing, and the detailed comment! Glad to see you enjoyed it.

If we had time to make a proper tutorial, that might have helped clear some things up, like needing to loop up the points. And yes - the snakes are unaffected by the slowdown; that’s a choice we made intentionally to put a bit more pressure on the player. Perhaps we could have communicated a bit better that they are unaffected.

I’ll make sure to play your game as well, super interested to see how you approached the theme!

Submitted(+1)

Aha! Okay, yeah, the snakes being unaffected definitely put the pressure on, haha, but could have been communicated better. But I totally get it, it’s a game jam, fully-fledged tutorials are a lot to ask (we have no tutorial either).

Thanks for the reply, and looking forward to seeing your thoughts on our game!

Developer

Am i tripping? I saw you comment and I was like... wait a minute. Are you the same person who made a comment on our GMTK gamejam 2023 2 years ago? and I went to check and it was lol. Do you know us and like our work hehe? or did you stumble upon this game out of luck?

Submitted(+2)

Oh wow, yeah, Kingfort Escort! Apparently I do like your work! But no, I just randomly stumbled upon your game this year. I don’t remember what I was searching for, but your game came up in the results, had an appealing cover image, and when I clicked through the screenshots and GIF made it look like a similar mechanic to our game and I wanted to see how y’all approached it :)

Developer

Hahahaha no way! Small world hey. Glad you liked the GIF :). I checked out your game and loved it! 5/5 in all categories. Impressive you managed to slip in a story too. Ill write a comment on the game page.

Submitted

Thanks so much! Glad you liked it! And yeah, the story was sort of a late addition but we really wanted to get it in.

Submitted(+2)

This was pretty cool! I really like the juicy feel of the boomerang and its an interesting idea to have it lasso enemies. I do wish that I did not have to lasso the points, kindof too much to think about and i wanted to just focus on getting the enemies instead.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, glad to hear you found the throwing mechanic to be satisfying!

We decided that the player should have to lasso up the points to make the most out of the looping and drawing mechanic, rather than just being an ordinary pickup. You can, however, also lasso up the enemies to bunch them up, so you can get both the points and the enemies in a single move - give that a try if there’s a lot of enemies on screen at once.

We appreciate the feedback though! Always super useful to hear player insight :)

Submitted(+2)

Such a cool use of the theme! I was expecting something similar to Vampire Survivors from the screenshots but the boomerang-lasso mechanic was a really pleasant surprise: it is so creative and I don’t think I’ve ever seen something similar before, way to go!

Also the artwork is really cute and the music provides the right amount of tension. And man, those snakes are a really fun twist on the theme, very smart ;)

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, glad to hear you enjoyed it! We worked hard to make the mechanics satisfying, though in truth we sort of “borrowed” the idea from a handful of games from the DS (Pokemon Ranger, for example). The presentation is something we also put a lot of work into, so we’re happy that you liked that as well.

Submitted(+1)

Great game! Snakes cought me offguard, really fun tho

Developer

Thanks for playing, we’re glad you enjoyed yourself! Seems like a lot of people had trouble with the snakes, so you’re not alone there - they are a bit of a pest!

Submitted(+1)

Being able to draw the flight path is an amazing idea. I liked it!

Developer

Thanks for playing! We’re very proud of the flight path mechanic, it was the central idea for our game.

Submitted(+1)

nicely done, boomerang behaviour is well crafted, got whooped by snakes more times than I'd like to admit (did 62 high score, but playing with touchpad hahah)

Developer

Thanks for playing, and well done on your score! Yeah those snakes can be a pain to deal with, but I hope you had fun regardless!

Submitted(+1)

very addictive boomerang mechanism !! it has 2-level control. one is simple mode to shoot at the direction I want. the second level control is to actually control whatever path I want it to go. I also love the interesting art style and especially the color palette.  I am not good at playing it when too many enemies  are getting close to me. I'd love to see  a guardian angel/animal/dog feature to bark or slow down the enemies for a half second when they are really close to me, so I get a last chance to get rid of the enemies or ran away.

Developer

Thanks for playing! We’re glad you had fun with the throwing mechanics, and my co-creator who worked on the art will be super thrilled to hear your words!

We would have loved to give the player some more abilities (potentially through a level-up system), but unfortunately only had so much time to work with. Adding a dog companion would certainly fit with the vibe of the game!

Submitted(+2)

Very fun & cute little game, I’m glad someone did a lassoing game. Good mix of fun/easy mechanics while still having some challenge as the game goes on

Developer

Thank you for the kind words!

Submitted(+2)

Really fun game! We had a similar idea while brainstorming, but couldn't get the concept to work. You definitely did, though! The chaos of drawing loops while dodging is a lot of fun.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Glad you liked it. Your game looks really good! ill need to check it out

Submitted(+2)

This is such a great game! Our games are so simular lol. Do you think you could check it out?

Developer

Thanks for the lovely comment! yeah sure I can check it out :))

YOU BEST PRAY I DONT FIND A SNAKE IN THE WILD. IT WILL BE FLUNG INTO SPACE  OUT OF SPITE.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! Hopefully snakes in the real world don’t give you as much trouble as the ones in our game.
