Ranked from 145 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does your game fit the theme?
The game is centered around making a musical loop track. The player also will loop back to the beginning when they go off screen. The number of loops played is also used as a score (the lower the better).

they finally made fl studio into a game lets go

Developer

Haha we actually used GarageBand as our reference, but I know FL Studio is pretty similar 😅

THIS GAME IS SO AWESOME. I'm in love with this concept and would beee so interested in playing an expanded version of this game.

This version is obviously short, sweet and pretty basic - I still found myself immersed and excited to fill out the song.

The dev in me is thinking about how cool would it be if one could upload their own midi files and play them!

So much potential here, please consider taking this idea further than just this jam.

And if it needs to be said, super super creative take on the theme, well done indeed!

Developer

I’m so glad you liked it! We’re definitely planning to add some more content/features after the jam.

Uploading your own midi files would be really sick for sure! I think parsing them would be pretty tough though (I would have to check how they actually work, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad lol). The way we have the platforms set up lends itself very well to a custom level editor though, since the platforms automatically change pitch based on their y coordinates!

We’ll have to see how it goes, but definitely keep an eye out for some more features!

Submitted

oooh very slick with the pitch-Ycoord setup! That’s a very elegant way of doing it :D

Exciting! Can’t wait to see what u guys do next :)

Combining MIDI roll with platformer is very creative! When I saw the theme, I also thought of the musical loop. It’s nice to see someone else interpreting it that way.

Developer

It is quite shocking to me how few games interpreted loop like this. I’m glad you liked it!

Good concept. Beautiful execution.

However, request from laptop user here. Please let us move around with arrow keys as well!

Developer

Thanks glad you liked it! After the jam we’re planning to do some bug fixing and add some features that we would’ve liked to have, and one of them is customizable controls, so keep an eye out for that update at some point!

Submitted(+2)

Great concept, could easily be built out into a larger game. Really good job.

Submitted(+2)

Pretty cool idea! I like music related games and this one was enjoyable.

Submitted(+2)

This has lots of potential for great platforming puzzles. Love the concept too.

Submitted(+2)

Cool game! It has some potential as chill game or some kind of educational game, will definitely play a longer version!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you like it! After the jam we’re planning to add level 2 at least, so there’ll be a bit more for you there 😅

Submitted(+2)

Interesting concept. Wish to have more levels with different musical styles. Well done!

Developer

Glad you liked it! After the jam we’re planning to at least add level 2 since it’s already designed, and maybe we’ll add more after that 🙂

very clever, loved it

this is fantastic! especially considering you had to pivot from the original idea, this turned out great- the beats are really fun to assemble and it's a really engaging and simple mechanic

Developer(+1)

Thanks I’m glad you like it! I loved your game as well!

I escaped in 14 loops – just a quick note, the game didn’t work for me unless I fullscreened it, not sure why.

Creative idea! We went with a similar concept for my game (a rhythm platformer where you got stuck in your synth) – but rather than the player building the track, they had to react to it as it modifies the level.

Great to find another game interpreting loop in this way. Congrats on the submission!

Developer (1 edit)

Hey 14 loops is pretty good! I’ve been averaging around 10-11 (my PB is 8 though 😅). Definitely glad to see another music loop game! I’ve been struggling to find any lol

Submitted(+2)

Pretty creative! We bounced around a similar idea before settling on ours! Great midi sound design

Submitted(+2)

Amazingly creative, absolutely loved this!

Submitted(+2)

22 loops, would have been less if I hadn't done max velocity on all the notes.

Developer

Nice! I’ve had a lot of practice so I’m averaging around 11 loops 😂

Submitted(+2)

This was such a unique concept! I haven't seen any other games like it. Very well executed. Great job!

Developer

Thanks! I’m so glad you liked it!

A very charming way to play with audio loops. Great Job!
If you keep working on it, I'd love to see a second note that is bouncy. Or maybe if you hit the note a second time from underneath it swapped between bouncy and static.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the suggestion! Definitely going to keep working on it after judging is done. Got some bugs to fix and stuff, but definitely interested in adding some new mechanics!

Submitted(+2)

When I heard the theme, I expected some submissions about music loops — and here we have one. A charming one.

Developer

To be honest I’m shocked at how few music-based games I’ve seen. I’m glad you liked it!

Submitted(+2)

Pretty fun but a bit repetitive - with some more mechanics and possibly different physics for the notes I could see this being even better.

Developer

Yeah after judging is done I’ll probably be trying to update it to fix some of the bugs and maybe add some new mechanics. Glad you liked it!

Submitted(+2)

really satisfying, especially hearing the melody come together bit by bit

Developer

Agreed! Building the song bit by bit was the main goal from the start, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. We were inspired by YouTube videos like this one if you want more looping music! 😂
