How does your game fit the theme?
The game is built around the concept of looping - mechanically and narratively. You rewind time by leaving behind clones of your past selves, creating loops of movement and logic. The story itself follows a loop too: a broken virtual entity trying to escape the endless cycle it was coded into.

Liked the game! The main mechanic is a little similar to our game too.

Developer(+1)

Awesome to hear our mechanics are a bit alike — great minds think alike, right? :)

Submitted(+2)

I like the concept a lot! Making your own platforms is a very interesting puzzle-platformer mechanic. It was a bit frustrating sometimes that you couldn't reset your place without using up a shadow, as missing a jump forced you to redo an entire puzzle, but that's 100% forgivable for a game jam entry. The music was very fitting as well!

Developer(+2)

Glad you liked the concept! Yeah, we get what you mean about the reset — that’s a fair point. We’ll definitely keep that in mind for future projects.

Submitted(+2)

Cool gameplay mechanic and narrative concept.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We’re glad you enjoyed both the mechanic and the story concept!

Submitted(+2)

Loved the newspaper cutout/sketchbook collage vibe! The loop interpretation was also very interesting!

Developer(+1)

Finally, someone noticed our effort to capture that style!! Thanks!

Submitted(+2)

Very nice game, the core mechanic is fun. The sound and visuals give make it a very calming experience. Enjoyed it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! Really glad you enjoyed it — we put a lot of love into the atmosphere, so it’s great to hear it worked :)

One of the best I’ve played so far. The story fits the theme really well, and the mechanic even more so. Sometimes the platforming feels a bit off, maybe it could use some coyote time, but nothing that really gets in the way. I really liked the music too, it really adds to the atmosphere. Amazing game, congrats!

Developer(+2)

Ahh yeah, coyote time! Can’t believe we overlooked that..
Thanks so much for the kind words — and even more for pointing out what could be improved! We’ll definitely keep that in mind for future projects!

Submitted(+2)

Like  Only up but with a little bit more that making the game really great !

Developer(+1)

Yep, thanks for the review, we tried to convey the atmosphere of Only Up!

Submitted(+2)

it's very successful then !

Submitted(+2)

very nice idea and comfy vibes =) felt hope

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much — that’s such a lovely thing to say!

The character controller could use some polish (namely a 0-friction PhysicsMaterial2D to avoid sticking to walls, coyote time, jump buffering). Maybe you could make restarting not destroy the shadows too. Beyond that, though, it's quite fun! I dig the art style and narrative too. Congrats!

Developer(+2)

Thanks a lot for the thoughtful feedback — really appreciate it!

Funny enough, we actually had a 0-friction material at first, but I decided to add wall sticking because it opened up more creative ways to navigate levels — though I get that it might feel a bit off for some players 😅 As for shadows resetting — we felt keeping them after a restart would make the game way easier, and we wanted to keep that “flawless run” challenge vibe (though yeah, tastes vary — some prefer a more casual approach).

Thanks again for pointing those things out — we’ll definitely keep them in mind for future projects!

Submitted(+2)

Haha, that's fair.

Submitted(+2)

Fun concept with just the right level of challenge! I do wish all my shadows would automatically return when reaching a checkpoint, though. Other than that, great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words! :) We actually considered having the shadows return at checkpoints, but thought it might take away some of the challenge — maybe that was a bit of a miss, haha. Definitely something to keep in mind for the future!

Super enjoyed this little game. It has some fun energy to it. So much potential here. Would love to see what you do with this!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much for taking the time to play our game! We really appreciate it!

Submitted(+2)

Great little game, I love the premisses of it and also how you managed to incorporate it into the game. Lovely artwork and entry, gj :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Really glad you liked our idea — means a lot to us :) We’re happy it landed the way we hoped!

Submitted(+2)

Good game! I really like the art—it’s like a painting.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We’re happy to hear that — we do our best! :)

Cool little game! As a game developer the narrative element made me fear of what all my unused assets will do to me when AI takes over, which is to say that it is very interesting and I wish you could expand it in a whole game. The art is nice and simple as well and I loved the protagonist animations, so simple yet with so much character!

My only critique is about the controls: binding the “self-destruct” button to Space feels a bit unintuitive as in most platforms it is used to jump, so it needed a bit to get adjusted to. Also I wish there was a death plane for when you fall off the map, as right now you’re forced to reset and lose all the progress made: I get the “Getting Over It” spirit and that it’s totally part of the genre, so this might be on me ^-^

Nevertheless, you did a great job, congrats!

Developer(+2)

Thank you so much for such a thoughtful comment — it’s always really rewarding when someone takes the time to share more than just a few words. We especially appreciate you pointing out the weak spots — not many people do, and it’s super helpful for us going forward. Thanks again! 💙

Submitted(+2)

The art fits really well together! The way the platforms are placed reminds me a bit of Getting over it. Thanks for the encouraging  words at the end!

Developer (1 edit) (+2)

Thank you! We were actually inspired by Getting Over It and Only Up! — wanted to make something in that spirit, and we’re glad it came through! :)

Submitted(+2)

Neat idea! Had fun playing it :) Simple and sweet!

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it — thanks a lot! :)

Submitted(+2)

A super cool idea, I really liked it! Some of the level design made me repeat each level more times than I would have liked to, but overall a super cool game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a ton — me and my friend are big fans of hardcore games, so we accidentally ended up making one ourselves :) (not quite Dark Souls level, but still). Super happy you enjoyed it overall!

Submitted(+2)

Very interesting idea, just simple & good execution! Well Done

Developer(+2)

Thanks a lot — we were aiming for simple but polished, so that means a lot to hear!

Submitted(+2)

Nice writing. Needed a lot of patience to get back to the shadows though. :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! :)

Haha yeah… getting back into the shadows definitely asks for some patience — glad you stuck with it

Nice game! Really liked the visual style and the fact that the cube felt alive because of the hairstyle and emotions. The only unpleasant moment is when you built a path and have to get to the checkpoint, but the cube accidentally fell into the abyss and you have to rebuild the route.

I will be very glad, if you rate our game too!

Developer(+2)

Thank you for your comment! We put a lot of heart into bringing our character to life, and I poured my soul into crafting those animations to make the cube feel vibrant. About the falling issue—yeah, it might be a bit rough, but we felt this reset mechanic tied into the game jam’s theme, where dying means starting the path over. Adding checkpoints was our way of softening that blow, so you don’t have to restart the entire level!!!

Thanks for the feedback, and we’re happy you liked our concept! :)
