Really nice idea, would love to see expanded with a more robust gameplay loop!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We are definitely planning to expand the gameplay aspect post-jam :)

It's a very original concept with a lot of potential!

However, I was a little frustrated by the lack of gameplay. I would have liked there to have been an objective to activating these notes, like musical puzzles to be solved by activating one note and not another.

Still, it's a beautiful game and a relaxing experience. Well done for creating it :)

Developer

Thank you very much!
I understand your frustration, I was hoping to add more in the visuals but ran out of time. Regarding gameplay, we want to expand this after the jam, I do need time to experiment and test things, I have just been learning to code and game dev for a month :)

Submitted(+1)

Well done again, then.

Because it's no small feat, having only been learning code for a month, to take part in a game jam like this and manage to create such a polished game. You can be proud of yourselves :)

Developer

Thank you so much, it means a lot!

this was really special! reminded me a lot of the dream sequences in night in the woods, the slowly building soundtrack was really cool. the only thing i can really criticize is i wish there was a volume slider, and i wish the platforming was a little more challenging! itd be really cool if you had to far off and make some really challenging jumps to get some of the loops. but thats just my tastes talking, i really did like this a lot. hope it does well!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciate it! I will definitely add a volume slider (I need to learn how) and we will expand on the gameplay post-jam :)

Perhaps the audio is a tad too loud on my browser but doesn't take away from the fact that it sounded good! I think the jumping is a little "floaty", unless that was the intended feel, I think it could use some tweaking, other than that, good job :D

The sound track for this game is amazing, and your platforming feels pretty good!  It seems like there's at least jump input buffering there!  This game was a relaxing experience and I'd love to see it expanded on.

Developer

Thank you very much! There is jump input buffering indeed :)
I am very glad the platforming felt good, this was our first platformer (ish) game and we will definitely expand on this post-jam :)

Very neat take on the theme! You really made it pop with the various voices harmonising. It was super relaxing.

This is such a great idea i love it! With really clean art and controls too, and amazing sound ofc

Submitted(+1)

Great job, I love the idea of creating your own music loops!

Submitted(+1)

I loved the music in this, great job. It was fun to layer it all, starting with something simple and ending with something sounding very complete.

Very original concept. Well done. (go rate mine, please)

Great idea! These particular sound samples were getting kind of annoying, but I could see how this idea would be really fun with the right sound loops

I quite like it, I wonder if adding little names to different places would help the game with a bit more feels to it. Something like cave of percussion or Synth Waterfall would make more interesting :?

Submitted(+1)

The music is literally top notch. good jumping mechanic too. Overall Great submission🙌

First of all, please add a volume slider. The music is freaking amazing but my ears hurt a tad because I could not control the volume haha. I think a different gameplay loop would have facilitated the idea much more. The concept of procedurally unlocking more layers of the music track is something amazing but I think the gameplay is just so flat as it is "just" a platformer. This seems to be your second entry in gamejams overall and I think you have incredible potential. If you find a way to highlight your strengths even more, you would make gem after gem after gem. I especially would have loved if the music directly affected the gameplay itself. In a platformer this is probably quite difficult, but perhaps if you use the same concept on a different game, you could do exactly that.
Also just in general, in case you have not, you should absolutely also release the soundtrack standalone. Its very outstanding.

First of all, thank you so much for your comment and feedback, we really appreciate it!

I will add a volume slider once I can update the game :) and we will try to upload and release the soundtrack on SoundCloud this week.

Regarding the gameplay, I agree and I really like the idea of the music affecting the gameplay. I am very much a super beginner at coding, this only the second game we make. Last game jam it took me a few hours to just make a start page with two buttons, just to give some context haha. For this one I had planned on having much more art and get the room to flourish as you get further in the game.

Thank you again for your feedback and for seeing the potential, it is really motivating :)

I mean we all start somewhere, you are on a good track! Making a game is hard, making it with 2 people is even harder, having such a short time limit is making it again much harder. With time you will have more experience, I am sure you will be able to pull off some amazing games :>

Developer(+1)

Making is game is hard, for sure! Thank you :)
And here is the soundtrack if you want ot listen to it https://soundcloud.com/fredrik-ashton/circlingnotes

I might just leave the tab for the game open during the day so I can listen to the music - very neat game!

Developer

Oh thank you so much! We will try and release the soundtrack on SoundCloud this week.

Developer

We've added it on SoundCloud if you want to listen to it without playing the game :) https://soundcloud.com/fredrik-ashton/circlingnotes

Mesmerising!

I'm not usually a completionist but I got every item on this game to hear the full track. And I wasn't disappointed!

Submitted(+1)

This is a very promising idea. Discovering different parts of the soundtrack in a large map is really satisfying and I think it could be used as a quite unique reward system in a larger game. I can also imagine the different tracks being used as some sort of mechanic, so switching them on and off can be advantageous. Even like this though it was already a fun experience. Great concept, well done!

Wow ! It was so good to discover little by little this great soundtrack ! I love procedural music and being the one moving around, discovering and activating each piece was a blast ! (I didn't realised at first that ti was the same level with diferent position of the buttons xD)

A possibility that I hoped for at the end was having all the loops that you can toggle as you wish to create the ost you want, but it may desacralize the fact that you create this music through only one journey

Good job both of you !

Submitted(+1)

Love anything that puts audio and music at the forefront! Nice job with all of the layers, too. Was very pleasant :)

I wish I could give a 6 star audio rating. My ears have been blessed.
