Really well polished entry, and the flight controls feel pretty good, Nice Job!

Really fun game, nice idea with the boost mechanic and regaining it by doing loops! Though I missed text mentioning the boost meter being that pink inside - I discovered it by accident on the second level after wondering why I bounced off some loops :)

Developer

You missed it because there was none 😅 I didn't want to bog down the tutorial with too much details, but I definitely could have made that piece more clear

Really really great game!! Super appreciate the variation of scoring mechanics, and the controls and movement feel good! Nice work!!!

All those years of Star Fox are finally paying off!

Submitted(+1)

Really quite fun - got a handle on the flight and just zipped for a good while. The controls for a game like this could usually be frustrating, but these were as smooth as butter. Great work! Thanks for sharing! :D

Game is quite fun, although I had issues with the boost rings. If I changed direction at all, it would crash me into the ring. It felt weirdly difficult to maneuveur, so maybe some lenience on these boost rings (i.e a speed check as opposed to a isBoosting type system) could be helpful. Otherwise, really cool game and it actually uses the theme really well!

Developer

Unsure what you mean by changing direction causes you to crash? It shouldn't matter what angle you're coming at as long as you are boosting when you hit it's collider. Though I do agree that they'd feel better with a speed check so I'll likely switch to that anyway.

Submitted

It may be an issue on my end, maybe my keyboard makes me stop boosting temporarily when switching direction? Either way, yeah if I changed my angle while boosting then it would fairly often lead to me dying at the boost rings

Developer

That could make sense, I'm gonna try and investigate later for my own sanity, but regardless switching to speed based should resolve it. Thanks for the info :)

Super smooth controls and sky writing is neat.  I sometimes got stuck doing loops around a star or something. Being able to pick it up with a loop or something would have been nice.

Developer

That is a great idea, might add that later!

super impressive for just one person. clean as hell, polished and working well (the same cannot be said for all jam games haha) i had a great time zooming around! thanks for submitting this to the stream :)

its Fun. I loved it. nicely done

Submitted(+1)

This was fun! Lots of great game feel, putting a boost in there too was a great addition

Very interesting concept, I love the idea of using loops to regenerate boost! It's a little hard to tell when crashing will make me restart or when I'll just bounce off the wall, but that's not a huge deal. Great work!

Developer(+1)

I should have removed that or put a note about it - if you boost into a wall you crash, if you aren't boosting you bounce and loose some boost meter.

Submitted(+1)

Aha! Definitely worth noting for new players, but I don't think you should remove it!  I do like the risk vs reward factor that adds to boosting! Very clever mechanic.

Very clean and sky writing is the way to go!  Please give my word-search game a try, it's nothing too fancy but very playable.  Please try and rate if you can, just want to get it out there!

The movement physics on this feel great and the level design complements them well. Very polished.

I’d maybe replace the loop and cloud graphics and go all-in on geometric/angular design, because the plane looks super slick. The integrated boost bar in particular adds a lot.

Super polished! UI looks great and controls feel amazing! Great work! :D

Amazing game!

Solid movement with some fun ideas, however I feel like there was more to explore here when it comes to changing up the gameplay and levels - some environmental effects sharp turns, creative routing, some new ring types, something to keep the spice flowing! Even something as simple as showcasing the boost rings later can help with the game feeling bigger, even if the time constraints meant that you couldn't add more mechanics ^w^

Developer

Glad you liked what was here. There absolutely was more to explore haha. I wanted to create more obstacles, things like moving walls, timed lasers, moving rings... Next time I think I need to allocate a dedicated chunk of time for level design and tweaking. The levels that are here work, but I'm not super happy with them since they are so bare bones.

Very pleasant steering. Great game

Submitted(+1)

You did really good getting the movement feeling down. I lot of games this jam used keyboard controls, or sometimes even mouse movement and weren't able to get it to feel responsive and you did! I also liked the sound FX, the clouds, and the fact you got so many settings programmed in such a short amount of time.

Submitted(+1)

This was nicely put together for a time constraint. It's such simple fun and brings some nostalgia from the flash game era!

sharp super fun exciting game with a cool hook loop gameplay. I can see the streaming appeal. and the quick "blast" appeal. I had a little trouble getting my direction right moving around but more of a comfort thing. I tried invert. Nice touch and features in the settings menu. wasn't expecting that. One of the few games so far that I can see playing again down the line

Developer

Curious what was giving you trouble - was it turning in general, or more when not using the boost and fighting gravity?

Submitted

I think just because I expected it to react like a top down shooter which I play more of. So where I go right it just goes to the right of the screen but again just something out of my own comfort zone. Super fun game

Developer(+1)

Gotcha, and thanks for the kind words :)

It definitely takes a bit to get used to. Personally, I find it a lot of fun to play with a gamepad using the triggers to turn left and right, if you ever give it another try
