Very good spot the anomoly type game. Best game I've played of the the Jam.

Developer

High praise, thanks a lot! : )

What if this whole game is a mimic...

You guys really nailed the dark vibe with the mix of gory visuals and unsettling music! I actually solved the first two cases by clicking in just the right spots before I realized the notebook and phone were there. I do wish clicking out of the book and phone didn’t shoot the gun because I got jumpscared a few times trying to leave by doing so, haha

Developer

Haha, sure will update the art for those two. Thank a lot!

Love the terminology used. "Arties", "Handies", "Furries". Really makes it feel like we've always been part of the Super Duper Mimic Hunting Task Force.

It took me until level 3 or 4 to notice the phone, that could probably be a little clearer. Some levels are trivially easy, just read the instruction until a new item is mentioned and shoot that new items. Other levels are harder, but can be figured out by just trial and error. Writing mysteries and giving subtle clues is extremely hard, so I'm incredibly impressed with what you got here.

Had a lot of fun with this! Thank you for the game.

...are objects in my apartment also Mimics...?

Developer

Everything's a Mimic when it kills you!

Very cool art and I like the tone of the clues and notes. Also good job making a point and click game scary. I'm surprised it got to me so much. Very unnerving.

Glad you liked it! Thanks!

Great use of a limited color palette and simple but very effective music loop (not sure if both were to save time but both are great anyway, very moody). Nice text too and a good twist on a simple idea. That being said I don't really see the tie in to the "loop" theme (or it's not obvious enough, or I'm dumb ahah).

Developer

Thanks a lot!

I'm not really sure how the comment under played the game, but I found the looping all around the game, like when you don't find the mimic you just try again until you get it right and reading notes and emails again and again until you figure it out, it's like detective work! Really scary too, and the murders were really grotesque which added to suspense. Great game!

Very simple, but a nice game.  It was very well drawn and had a good colour palette.  Music was nice too.  The descriptions were quite interesting.  Giving the player a finite number of lives would have added some tension, which is important in horror games.

Maybe I missed it, but there didn't seem to be anything loop related, which was the game jam theme.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing! The loop theme is in all 3 maps. Each one has a different timeline and murder to investigate. Haha we kinda ran out of brain cells making the stories, to loop again the third time haha. Thanks again!

Incredible artwork, and very impressive to capture a strong horror vibe in the jam - sound and art come together well.  Very unnerving in a great way.  Nicely done!
