reeeally liked the name of the game and the aesthetics, the music and art match each other perfectly! took only a few attempts to understand the gameplay and only wished there was more money in between runs (gib money pls). other than that, some updates on the ui animations (more juice) and more levels and this game can make this even more addicting. solid entry, looking for more!

3, 2, 1, go! I wish every game had a train whistle button. Every game. Call of duty? Train sound. Final Fantasy? Train. Zelda? Choochoo!

Developer

CHOOO CHOOOO!

Love the art and design

Love the concept ( I am a tokusatsu fan)

Just feel there is a lack of interaction aside from shopping. I find there is not much of control during the gameplay. I am left with my own devices to figure out what to do.

Overall, I love this submission!

Developer

Yeah for now the only interaction is in the strategic purchase and arrangement of carts (hopefully you did see the panel with their descriptions);  maybe once the jam is over we'll find a way to make it feel more engaging. Thanks for playing!

Very cool game, I love the art and music they're really good. The concept of stacking train carts together too is really neat. Good submission!

Great art and sound design, but as for the gameplay...

I can deal with the lack of interaction beyond the shop screen, and with that little gameplay, what's the strategy supposed to be? Buy whatever you can afford from the random options you're given? For such a relatively simple mechanic, I don't see many options to consider a strategy component. Let's see if in the next loop I have enough coins to buy at least one multiplier ÒwÓ

Developer (1 edit)

Hi,

you will never win if you do that, and you probably didn't understand that you can order the wagons to make them interact in different ways.

You gotta manage the train speed and damage as well as the type of build you wanna go for; there's about 5 viable types of combinations with many variations. Also, the mult is hands hands down the worst wagon.

Let us know if you win a run!

Thanks and well played! You mean 2 poisons?

Developer(+1)

The artwork and music go ridiculously hard it would be cool if there was a speed up function cause theres not too much input past building the train also more train cars for build variety would be very nice. all in all though this is one of my favorites ive seen so far

Developer

Thank you sm! Ye you're right, we already thinking about a speed up function!

Probably the slickest and sexiest game I've played all jam.

Good points:

Simple design

Animation of the Kaiju was great.

Characters, have great style: Italo, SOT and Mechani-Chan look visually developed.

It's damn fun.

THE TRAIN SOUNDS. I love how that horn is incorporated in (Spoiler?) both battle themes.

Minor Quibbles:

The shop - Maybe tool tips? Or at least labels? I had a hard time remember which car did what. And even after I found the ? screen, I still had to consult it way too often.

Lack of player interaction once the game starts. Yes, it's a set and forget Autobattler. Not sure you want to do something like morale boost or something that can affect outcome. If you don't, maybe a way to speed up a bit? Maybe I'm just impatient ;)

Either way, probably one of the best I've played this week. Thank you for that, and I'm going to take another shot at it again now.

Developer

Love you <3

really cool concept but man am I the only one bad at the game I can't defat the fifth boss (I am about to lose it).
Great game I am still playing and trying to defeat the boss.

Thank you so much for the comment!
It’s balanced to be difficult, but it can be beaten with different builds, don’t give up!!

The artstyle, the music ! my gosh ! so polished ! I guess it lacks a bit of feedbacsk when attacking the enemy. And it missed the informations about the wagons.

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the feedback! As far as the wagon info goes,  you can learn about them from the INFO button in the bottom-left corner of the shop! :)

Submitted(+1)

Wow, this is really stylish - the graphics and audio are incredible! I like the combination of auto-battler with the loop theme, it fits really naturally! A bit nitpicky, but as others have said it would have been nice to have more information on the effects of the different carts in the shop. But overall this is a fantastic entry that has a lot of potential!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah we would have liked to make the shop a bit cleaner of an experience, but we had to settle for a separate panel due to time restrictions. If we keep updating the game we'll make sure to improve it quite a bit!

Submitted(+1)

Superb job on the game! I wish the shop had tooltips on hover instead of the info button, but other than that it's honestly amazing.

Developer

Thank you very much for your comment! It's a great idea, maybe we'll integrate it after the jam ends.

The arts and the music is superb. The sfx is a bit lacking compared to the music, but still kinda nice overall.

I think this game is in a bit of a weird limbo in this state. There's too little to do to be an "active" game, yet it is too short of a loop to be an idle/incremental game. You have to interact with the game too often to make feel truly idle. I don't know which genre you were looking to put the game into, but I can't quite place it myself.

Developer

Yes, much to the dismay of our sound designer the game really came together late in development, so the sfx had to take a backseat while the four music tracks had way more time to be fleshed out.

As far as genre goes it's not meant to be an idle game but an auto battler, so incremental improvement between fights are the core of the gameplay. If we keep up development the upgrades will be way more varied.

Thanks for playing!

Thank u sm for the feedback! (Boutta go very technical since I believe u know what you're talking about) I agree about the lack of sound design compared to the music, 1st problem was I could see the (almost) full product only a few hours before the deadline, 2nd was the lack of visual hooks to put sounds on; also, the dnb track was the first I composed, and it comes with a lot of transients (drums and train sounds), so I probably miscalculated since everything felt off-beat when put on the scoring wagons or anything else.

Since you pointed that out tho, I'd really appreciate suggestions if anything came to your mind while playing. Thanks again!

Ottimo

The artstyle is so good, really unique and nothing like I've seen before. Everything blends very well! The only thing I wish was that the train would move faster :D Other than that, honestly perfect.

Developer

Thanks! Were planning on a  x2 speed, we simply didn’t have enough time but that’s a great suggestion.

Wow, the game was super cool

Developer

Thanks!

This game is incredibly good, i have spent like 2h playing trying to optimise my train. Also art and music is amazing. I love to use of train whistle in songs. The only critisim I have is that sometimes if you get bad rng there is no way to pass second level, beacause all the upgrades could be for 30$ and there is nothing you can buy. Other than than, really good job. The best game in this jam I've played yet.

Developer

Wow! We're glad you enjoyed the game and you're totally right about the rng  problem, we were in a hurry to balance the economy part and weren't able to fix that. Thank you so much for the time you spent writing the comment!
