I had a lot of fun spraying down roaches. The lighting and art were really creepy and reminded me of original Quake. It was a little difficult to time the patching and a few times I got swarmed and destroyed in seconds. I'd love to see this idea more fleshed out and hope you continue working on it. Great job!
I unironically forgot about my insectophobia. And your flying critters hit the mark of “NOPE” juuust about perfect.
Didn’t finish. Had to quit after 2 packs of critters.
Nice menu, I guess xD
Maybe that's why some devs include arachnophobia settings in their games xD. Thanks for trying though! Idk if you've left a rating but feel free to leave one based on your current impression , it'd help a lot! ^^
Good job! You should have explained that after exterminating roaches in one room, I need to go to the illuminated door to proceed. It took me a while to understand this. The game is nice otherwise! The idea is cool, the music and horror atmosphere feels good. Not bad!
I'm not sure about something: Is the game endless, or is there a point where you win? My best was clearing the third room (I think).
The game sort of just ends after ten rooms, although I'm not sure if the last one is even beatable. Yeah good point about the door, I wanted to add a sound effect or sth but alas, time ran out! xD Thanks for playing!
I really like this game! The music is fun and the gameplay was quite enjoyable, I had fun narrowing down the crack locations based on where the bugs were coming from. I'm glad it saves your progress on the tape when you let go to fight the bugs because I was getting mobbed lol, though I'm not sure if that's intended. Great job!
I did find one bug (the kind you don't want lol) - on one restart I was just running around the room, not getting attacked, not seeing a crack anywhere, until I heard the sound effects and realized the one crack in the room spawned under a wall pillar! All the roaches were stuck clipped into the wall, which explains why they weren't coming at me. Had a nice laugh at their expense until I got too close trying to tape the crack, at which point they insta murdered me lol.
Yeah, tape progress was intended. I think it allows for a more flexible playstyle. Yeah I think I only encountered out-of-bounds spawners like once during my playtests. xD But will be fixed!
Thanks for playing!
I like the music and you had settings (thank god) to adjust the volume and mouse sensitivity. I do wish there was a reticle in the middle of the screen, but that's likely personal preference. I like how you use the light at the door to indicate that you can move on to the next level, and all the assets look well-made. Good job (◕‿◕✿)
I somehow forgot about adding a reticle but yea, I fully agree. For many of the environmental assets I just ran some pbr material textures through a tool called SLK_img2pixel to give em that psx look, it's really easy to generate great looking assets fast that way.
Thanks for the review!
Cool game I enjoyed tracking down the cracks based on where the critters where coming from! The spraying mechanic was also fun. If you do decide to work on the game more after the GWJ ig you could add a greater variety of insects with different behaviors, speeds, hit points etc. and maybe more obstacles around the map.
Yea more enemy variety had been planned for sure, and it's really easy to implement too. But alas, time ran out xD
Thanks for the review!
I liked it, love a fast moving FPS and i think you managed to hit that Devil Daggers vibe too!
The FPS Controller felt nice and it looks the part too. Only thing i'd say is i found it quite hard to tell where the cracks were sometimes, but that's only a minor issue.
Yeah, nice job! I enjoyed it!
Thanks for the feedback! I had a similar experience with the cracks and instead relied on spotting where the roaches appear to find them, but perhaps I'll add a better indicator to improve game flow.
Very cool, I am very bad at this but the mechanics are nice
lol git gud
Not bad at all! I think my only complaint is that the feedback on damage and where things are may be insufficient. Decor is a minor issue in comparison.
Yea I agree, it's still a bit messy, I did the audio cue for taking damage literally in the last hour before submissions closed. xD
Thanks for the feedback!
Pretty fun!
