Very relaxing and I liked the art style! Also wow you did so much to support all the controller types so I applaud you. I pet all the critters. 10/10

Developer

Thanks for playing. Glad you liked it. We've had plenty of games that showed the controls for a different controller type than we were using and it could be frustrating, so we wanted to make ours allow you to see the right buttons. It helped that Kenney had a pack with all the right icons.

I’m dying to play this game but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to pet the animals! Hitting ‘A’ on my keyboard does nothing, and I have no idea what that underscore-bracket-looking thingy is supposed to be?

Developer (3 edits) (+1)

The rounded square icons are for the keyboard, while the circles are for controller. The keyboard key for "Interact" is the Space Bar. The "A" button is for the controller. You can also go into the settings and remap the keys if you'd prefer to use something different.

We will be adding the following to the list of controls in future games. We're still thinking on the best way to clarify icons like the Space Bar in the space available, though leaning towards adding tool tips.

Thanks for taking the time to comment and ask!

Ahh thank you for letting me know! And your idea / mockup for the tool tips is great, that looks like it would be really helpful.

I just played Fantasy Petting Farm and loved it!

I feel like there are so many games that have cute animals and often won't let players pet the cute animals. Right now I'm playing a medieval RPG with many dogs, horses, and chickens and you can't pet any of them which is a tragedy. This game letting me pet all the animals I wanted was a delight!

The idea of just petting virtual animals in video games for the joy of it (rather than in farming sims where you do it to make them happy & get more produce out of them) is an interesting concept and one I hope to see more of in the future :D

Anyways, well done for making such an adorable and sweet game.

Thanks for playing. Glad you liked it.

We've been so busy lately that we wanted to take it easy, and debated doing the jam. The theme seemed perfect for this simple idea of just going around and petting cute animals. It was ideal for us wanting to relax while still taking part, and we knew others would also enjoy the peaceful environment.

Oh wow! Such a cute, cozy game! I got excited when I realized I can pet ducks, but then to my surprise... a unicorn?!?! AND A HORSE WITH GUITAR!?!?!?!

This game is everything... I love it.

Developer

Thanks for playing. Glad you liked it. The guitar player is meant to be a dragon.

This was cute! I loved the sounds the mushrooms made! I could see this as part of a bigger farming game! Really great submission!

Developer

Thanks for playing. We are thinking of making it part of another project in the future.

Submitted(+2)

Neat, could see this definetly being a mini-game in a game like stardew!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing. We were thinking similar, and it will almost certainly end up as a mini-game in a future project.

Really cute idea and I enjoyed the peaceful and cozy gameplay. I enjoyed each animal having a different spot to pet. The art was great and I really loved the sound design, specifically the little mushroom creatures. Really nice work!

Developer

Thanks for playing. Glad you enjoyed. It took a while to find sounds we liked for the mushrooms, as we had no idea what to use when we started.

Nice art and satisfying sounds!

A really fun cozy game, great job!

I really enjoyed this one! The accessibility of your game is really great with the remappable controls and an intuitive gameplay loop. I feel like there should be some sort of additional mechanic to add a bit of variety to the gameplay, but I'm not really sure what that would be, since this is more of a "go at your own pace" type of experience rather than a strategy-based one.

Overall, nicely done!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed.  Accessibility is an area we focus on.  We had considered adding a small rhythm based mini-game for the dragon, so you could dance with while the dragon played, but it didn't make it in in time.

Super cute game, and who doesn’t love petting animals! I enjoyed the different petting zones for each animal, and the sounds were great.

Maybe a little quick-time event or something that has a chance of triggering while petting could be fun! It would give you something to look out for as you keep doing the petting mechanic.

Good job!

Thanks for playing and for the feedback.  We decided that we wanted to be very causal and laid backed for this game, so didn't include things like quick-time events, but could see including something like that if we were to continue this one.

So cute and cozy!
Just what I needed this morning.
I'm going to show this to our kids later, I think they will enjoy petting all the cute little animals as well.

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed.  Hope your kids like it too.

Such a cute and cozy game! The sprites and sounds were spot on, and I loved how each animal had its own petting area. And that dragon with a guitar in the corner was super dope!

Developer(+1)

Thanks!  The dragon was made for our first Godot Wild Jam, and we've tried to include him (or a variation of him) in each game since.

Wow. What a beautiful game! I loved the theme, and the game's sounds are sensational. I felt a little lacking in purpose. But other than that, I think it has great potential.

Developer(+1)

Thank you.  It was meant to be causal and cute, so the purpose really was just petting animals because you can.  I'm glad you otherwise enjoyed.

Cute game, nice work! ^^
