  • Graphics : Good.
  • Music / Sfx :
    • Music : Generally fine, it takes it a hot minute to start.
    • SFX : Generally fine.
  • GUI : Generally fine
    • Should add more options for window resolution and type (FS/FSW/Windowed)
  • Gameplay : Puzzle Platformer, no complaints here.
  • Notes :
    • I like the color palette used here for some things.
    • Might be reading too much into it but I like the potential implication of some of the story.
    • I like the art style.
    • I appreciate that while the game has a system similar to the old harry potter spellcasting trace puzzles, there is a very generous lenience on how strict you need to follow the path.

Overall, aside from a few nitpicks or some potential tweaks here or there, I liked this.

I enjoyed playing this! I tend to have a tough time with platformers but the level of difficulty of the game worked well for me. The concept and design was interesting and fun. I liked the way you have the tutorial built into the exploration. The controls felt smooth and easy to use on the controller. Looking forward to seeing how it develops!

Thank you so much for playing! Really glad you enjoyed it. Yeah we want to keep the controls and platforming beginner friendly so more people can get introduced to these type of games <3

This was a wonderful experience!  I love the way your puzzles work together and create a larger and more complex environment that is very enjoyable to explore.  This is a very solid and well contained initial experience, I can't wait to see what else you have in store in the full release!

A few small critiques to highlight:

  1. The Sound volume slider doesn't have any feedback as it's adjusted.  It would be a pretty good QoL to have a feedback sound when the slider is released, or periodically as it's held.
  2. The direction of the attacks while swimming reset if no direction is held.  This requires the player to possibly slowly (if using analog controls) drift towards an enemy to attack it multiple times.

VOD is linked below, and it will be available for 60 days.  Please reach out if it is needed for longer, and a highlight can be made.

Thanks a lot for the recording! Watching it definitely helped to see some things we will tweak. Really glad you enjoyed it <3

This was a lovely demo, and lots of fun. Def looking forward to the eventual full release. The puzzles were solid, the graphics were awesome, and in general was just a lot of fun. The only significant thing that happened was one of my vessels clipped through into the moving platform while I wasn't in it so I couldn't get back into it, but leaving and coming back fixed it.

Keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing any future updates of this.

Thank you so much for taking the time to play and the great response <3

Yeah, we encountered this bug before and will fix it asap! Glad that it didn't ruin your playthrough though :D

Hello! Welcome to Feedback Quest 8! My name's Hythrain, a co-host and one of the streamers for this event! This feedback is being written live as I stream your game! If you're interested in seeing my live reaction, let me know and I can send you a link to the VOD once it's posted to YouTube!

So my normal approach for any game in these events is simple: I get the game, make sure it's not a virus, then play it with as little information on how to play as possible. This way, I can judge how intuitively someone can figure out the game. Only if it's obvious that I need to read more will I do so. I note this so you can get a sense where some of these feedback comes from. In addition, I want to note that feedback and rating are different; don't use this feedback to gauge what I'll rate, nor should you view my rating as entirely indicative of my feedback.

HOW DARE YOU MAKE SUCH A SHORT DEMO FOR SUCH AN INTERESTING AND FUN METROIDVANIA! HOW DAAAAAAAAARE!

Okay, joking aside, I adore this. I love Metroidvanias and this is no exception. The artwork is beautiful and crisp, the music is a mix of evocative and haunting, and I quickly fell in love with the game's mechanics. I think my favourite part was when I realized there would be more than one type of body to control, with each body having their own controls. I love the little bird fish thing!

One thing that popped into my mind while I was playing it, however, was "why make use of the mouse instead of just having two hands on the keyboard?" Then an idea popped into my head: why not make use of the mouse when you're doing the  "drawing" mechanic? So after pressing and holding space, the ball becomes bound to the cursor and the cursor is placed where the ball is. Then you can use the mouse to draw the shape. This would feel more accurate than trying to press and hold the right buttons, at least to me, and it would then make sense for why the player is using the mouse as well as WASD. And in the event a player doesn't want to do this, you could make it an option to turn on and off. :D

Otherwise, this game is phenomenal and I'm so upset at how short it was! I was just getting invested!

Thank you so much for the thoughtful and lovely feedback! We really appreciate the time you spent playing and writing this.

Using the mouse like this sounds great. Giving that device more purpose in general is probably not a bad idea. We just thought it might be too much of a disconnect between mouse/keyboard and game pad. But I guess with the control stick you'd have more freedom too.

Anyways, thank you again so much for the feedback!

Ps: yes I would love to see your playthrough, so feel free to post it here. Will definitely look into that!

Hi, Mayshing here, co-host of FBQ.

First of all what a beautiful game, my kiddo and I really enjoyed it, beginning stage control tutorial is done so seamlessly a chief's kiss on that progression. My kiddo and I also loved the concept and the overall world. We did get stuck somewhere with the timing of the puzzle. Maybe others can progress further than us. We will take hints and revisit later.

Developer

Hey thanks to you and your lovely kiddo for playing! <3

I'll give you a hint :D
The puzzle you were stuck on is not a timing puzzle. You already discovered your two possible actions, opening the gate with the robot upstairs and switching the water on/off. This is everything you need and once you have the solution you can take all the time in the world to swim to the exit <3
