I'm a fan of experimental text adventure games, and I think what you did here is really interesting~ I was hoping for a little more integration between games and storyline- maybe exploring the protagonist's relationship with her sister or giving more context to their arcade visits- but I still enjoyed the way you simulated arcade games in a text-based format. I agree with another commenter that the match-making game was the most fun. Maybe a cool post-jam direction could be exploring ways to make the game mechanics a little more complex so the player has a greater sense of agency? Either way, I think it's a great entry, and an especially amazing job for a first game!

Cute entry! I was surprised how you were able to implement "mini-games" in a text-based format. I liked the match-making game the best. Would've been nice to see how Kayley reacted to your haul but overall it's a very charming game :)

I completely agree with you. I think that is a really important part to integrate and I do want to eventually add that among many other things. This jam was super intense and scattered for me but so fun. Somehow, I didn't get to the ending or the audio at all lol. I didn't realize my inexperience until i started working on this jam. I'm just so glad this was my first jam. You guys have all been amazing and so gentle with your feedback. I appreciate the kind words.

After earning about 350 tickets and a pile of broken furbies I thought I was in a pretty good spot, but when I saw the prices on the ticket counter I had to resort to theft. And my sick sister didn't even show appreciation for my efforts!

This was a cute little game where it felt like there was a lot to explore in the arcade.

I hear your concerns lol. I actually meant to adjust the prices of everything at the end but somehow I still forgot AND I may have forgotten to make theft not possible. So you are completely justified.

This was really cool, it's not too often you see a text based adventure (I say text-based adventure even though the minigames were not purely text-based)! I enjoyed the game a lot!

Developer

Thank you so much. I didn't have enough experience to do something non-text based yet but wanted to try to implement mini games because I feel like I am not the strongest writer, by any means, or artist lol. I have a lot of work to do on it but I'm really glad you liked it!

This is really cute! I liked the potion selling mini-game the most! I accidentally went into ticket debt with my stolen lamp HAHA

Developer

I'm sorry lol. I know what you mean. so oops, I guess subconsciously I must have wanted everyone to get whatever prize they wanted.

Nice work! I'm not a fan of furbies but I'd totally get that lava lamp lol

Developer(+1)

Yeah they kind of scare me but I had fun attempting to draw them lol. Thank you for playing :) I appreciate you.

I really liked the mini-games with potion making and match making. The prizes are also so nostalgic, reminiscent of the 1990s/2000s.

Cute game, I had fun playing it! ❤
I think i stole the prizes by accident....

Lol I think I figured out how. Lots of mistakes that I am finding but I know how about half of them happened so far lol. So that's good. I really appreciate you trying it out.

Pretty fun, I thought the whole thing was going to be text, but I'm glad I was able to do some minigames. I got like 20 Broken Burpies and 3 My Digital Friends though and it didn't count as loot. I'm going to give all of them to my sick sister.

Developer

Oh no. Yeah my friend said he randomly had a lava lamp that he didn't earn lol. So, the endings are surprising even to me sadly.  I'm sorry I missed your review if you did it on stream. I had to leave part of the way through. I was TaiCheaLatte lol. Ill check out the rest of your VOD later.  I had lots of fun! Appreciate you taking the time to play it though.

I'll admit I'm not usually a fan of text based adventures, but this was still enjoyable regardless. The story is well written, and the mini-games are all unique and fit well in the arcade setting. Also the potion seller reference was cute. :3

Developer

Thank you. That really means a lot. I also don't really play visual novels that much, but I knew I was not ready for much else lol.
