Ranked from 240 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does the game fit the theme?
The core gameplay loop relies on progressing through each level by choosing a new upgrade, but you're also forced to take a debuff. This fits the theme as you have to weigh your risk/reward balance to get as far as you can and manage the chaos of your own choices.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The map tileset, the player character sprite, the enemy sprites, the UI icons, and a handful of sfx come from free to use packs and sources such as Kenney assets. A full list of credits is on the game's page.

Everything else - the code, music, and sound effects - are all made from scratch.

I wish there is more unique feature but it's still playable. gj.

This make me things about how video games can be realy cool without complexe mecanics

This was fun. 'BUT' mechanic was original. If further developed i can see this as something i would buy :)

Simple yet fun ! The gameplay fits well to the theme. The dash destination a bit confusing, it would be nice if you show where I will dash to

Okay this was fun

Wow, this game is really nice! I tried to do something similar with my own, but your implementation is so cool. I played a few matches—I'm so bad at bullet-hell games, hahaha. <3 I love the game, have a great jam!

this game is truly very fun. its structure is simle yet engaging, amd the coontrools feel great. The idea that uppgradingg beings danger fits the theme perfectly.Unfurtunately, the upgradee options aree a bit limited. If the ggame could offer moore variety and branchiing upgrade paths, it would be perfct.I really enjoy this game and look foorward to seeing mooree coonten in the future

I appreciate your comments and feedback! Yeah the options don’t have a huge variety, but I felt it was enough for a game jam prototype.

Neat game! Liked the progression of different buffs/debuffs. Also the farting song in the background is funny.

This game is a truly full-fledged and exciting gameplay. The visual style is clean and functional, with a clear visual hierarchy that makes it easy to perceive the action in tense moments — a key feature of this genre. Overall, I really liked the game.

Plays very smoothly, though I only managed to get to round 7. I feel like the biscuit theme could have been a bit stronger, but that doesn’t make the game any worse. I had fun, and I’ll definitely come back to try and get further!

Developer

Haha, thank you! I didn’t lean into the biscuit theme cause I wanted to focus more on the idiom’s intention, but I suppose having some biscuits around couldn’t have hurt. Your game did that pretty well mixing the two interpretations of the theme <3
