How does the game fit the theme?
The core gameplay loop relies on progressing through each level by choosing a new upgrade, but you're also forced to take a debuff. This fits the theme as you have to weigh your risk/reward balance to get as far as you can and manage the chaos of your own choices.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
The map tileset, the player character sprite, the enemy sprites, the UI icons, and a handful of sfx come from free to use packs and sources such as Kenney assets. A full list of credits is on the game's page.
Everything else - the code, music, and sound effects - are all made from scratch.

I can't believe you were able to basically build brotato in a week! Well done!
Oh wow, that’s an amazing compliment, thank you!
I really liked the game, but the monsters are much stronger than the game itself. I hope you see my game.
Probably the best idea of the meaning of risk it for the biscuit so far.
This game is awesome. Track is a banger! Found myself bopping. Very fun!
Very polished game. Great work!
Very nice game. I enjoyed it alot
wow nice one. Liked the game feel.
Nice game very fun
Quite fun game!
The upgrade system forcing you to always take a debuff is very interesting but all to often I was wishing I could take none of them. The shooters are the enemies to look out for as they can not be kited in the same way as the melee enemies.
The music gets repetitive fast but otherwise works well to reinforce the somewhat stressful atmosphere of the game.
I appreciate your thoughts and feedback! Yeah I only wish I could think up more risk/reward cards for variety, but not wanting to pick any of the risks means I achieved my design goal :)
We were in a similar situation with our card game but we eventually decided to give in and gave the player a reroll option. Maybe we could have been meaner 🤣
I somehow never even considered a reroll option haha. That wouldn’t have been a bad idea.
This is a really fun little game with nice game feel! I found the dash a little hard to use but other than that the combat and upgrades felt great. Very polished too. Well done!
This game is super fun, I love the idea and the execution! I could genuinely play this for hours. No two runs feel the same, which I guess is the spirit of a roguelike!
So awesome very fun to plan a cool build thanks for the game!
Movement and shooting feel REALLY smooth, good job
Good luck in game jam
Very fun! Well polished, our entries have some parallels ;)
Loved it! Feels really good and polished
Fun game! I liked it a lot!
Found a little bug: You can shoot right before next round and hit an enemy even before it starts moving.
Thanks for the report! Lets call it a feature not a bug cause it’s funny :p
Your game is so much fun! Great job!
All around solid game. Good idea, good execution. Feels good to play.
My only criticism is that the soundtrack is not as high quality as the rest of the game...
What was wrong with the soundtrack?
Just a tiny bit repetitive is all
Ah okok
Awesome work, very fun ^-^
Fun game!
