I like the idea, but it feels like this could have also been a 2D game, like it doesn’t have a reason to be 3D… The enemies were really veriable, and they all complimented each other I feel like the game could have some benefits from checkpoints… and if you’d want to focus on Super-Mario combat system, then having the enemies die whenever you’re mid-air would have been more efficent than having a seperate collision system, maybe it would’ve made the game easier but then you could make cockroaches have that Mario turtle like effect? Overall a fun game, but some deaths really felt undeserved :( And also it would be neat if each game over screen had the enemy that killed you, it was mostly bees or hornets, so having another set/s of screens seems to fit in

Haha the stove top was my worst enemy i died so many times there but it was definitely all me lol overall a fun and simple game game

I really enjoyed the visuals and the game is v cute to play :)

wall jumping is a bit clumsy but was fun nonetheless

It's a cute game. Are the collectibles suppose to go to zero on death? I assume not since they don't respawn. But yeah its good and the power ups are a nice touch.

(I'll be referring to the faults of the game program as "bugs" and the bugs of the game that you have to defeat as "enemies".)

The graphics look really nice and the gameplay would be really fun if it wasn't for the bugs that kept occurring every time I restart. But I still had fun.

At first, everything seems to be working as intended. Defeating enemies by jumping over them. Fighting bees being a challenge but doable, and the UI updating as I kept dying and collecting cookies and cheese. But as I kept replaying the game, everything starts to get buggy. Jumping over enemies can still defeat them but sometimes hurt me and the UI doesn't update when I restart the game. (It seems that I should have three chances to run through the game but now I only have zero chances).

Despite all of that, great game. Cute and fun. Reminds me of old games.

Wonderful work.

Developer

Thank you for your detailed feedback! I'm sorry that the respawn mechanic caused so many issues. Do you know if we're still allowed to upload updates for the jam?

Submitted

I think we are. I saw a post saying you can fix issues within 48 hours after the jam. I plan on fixing my game as well.

Lovely! :) I struggled a bit with the walljump mechanic, but all in all it has been fun! :)

Developer

Thank you! Yea I agree the walljump is kinda unforgiving. I just played your game too, really well done that was a lot of fun :D

I liked the visuals they remind me of some old games I use to play as child.
There seem to be a few "bugs", probably because you had no time to finish them.

Developer

Thank you!

I think most bugs occur when respawning, right? Indeed I did not have enough time to polish the checkpoint mechanic :(

I've got your game on my list, I'll play it later today, thank you again for your Input :)

My pleasure!
Yea, respawning and resetting the game causes some bugs.
Resetting is worse because you have to exit the game to fix it.

(+ idk why but the game requested firewall access)

Developer

Oh I will look into the resetting bugs, didn't know it's worse there.

Every Unreal Engine game (that I Made so far) asks for firewall access. I'm pretty sure you can just ignore that/deny access.

Very nice! Its an enjoyable experience, and I love the style of gameplay. It's rare to see a 3D game in the Jam (and for understandable reasons, its a lot of work), even less so of this quality, the fact that 2 people managed to pull this sort of a thing off from scratch is astounding - You have my respect!

Of course, things could use a bit more polish. Graphics feel a bit plastic-y, though its fair if that was done to make the game feel more old-school, then its nice.

Overall very solid game.

I hope many others get to see your work as well. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your kind words! We definitely tried to create some old school vibes, but yeah more polishing time would definitely have helped.

I will play your game next! I'm excited to see how you've implemented the topic :)

Game is fun and quite chill to play! I liked your mario-like gameplay.

Developer

Thank you! I gave your game a try too, I really liked your stanley parable sorta gameplay :D  Unfortunate that it's so short! :(

Such a great game, feels like a finished project. Just a bit weird to use arrow keys instead of wasd, but still loved it nonetheless. Beautiful animations and art

Developer

Thank you so much! I just played your game too, was a lot of fun, well done!
