What a charming little game. Gameplay, art and sound felt very consistent and well polished. The short dialogs and art with cake conveyor belts added a lot of personality to the game. The only thing I could think of was that there was some kind of delay sometimes before the player character moved. Which sometimes could make me fail. If this was intentional to avoid precision stealth movement and rather be smart of when and where to move, perhaps that could be shown even more with some animation or something and lean into that mechanic

Developer

Thank you so much! I will say the movement is the weakest point of our entry so not intentional unfortunately, but I hope you still enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed your game! Happy so see more stealth games. The sound is great and the history kept me interested. I needed to know we can turn this empire down.

I would recommend for the controls to use the input system has move as has Vector 2, setup the event and normalize the entry. It will allow you to move diagonally at tha same distance as up and down.

Annoyingly we had diagonal movement in the very beginning and took it out again. Worst decision of the jam for sure xD
Thank you for playing and commenting!

Is always difficult to cut stuff out, but I heard that sometimes you have to kill your darlings.
I understand, I had to take features out because the WebGL built took too long.

I've saved the Bakery!

The stealth gameplay mechanics are genuinely solid and well thought out:

  • Clear detection range indicators
  • A detection meter (to let me know how much I can risk!)
  • Limited vision with lights off

All of these elements worked together beautifully to create a tense and engaging experience. Nicely done!

That said, the controls could use some love. They felt a bit slippery, at times felt like they  were grid-based, but not quite. It made movement feel unpredictable at times, and I wasn’t sure what was causing the disconnect. Definitely something worth revisiting to tighten up the overall feel.

Still, the core mechanics are strong.
Well done!

Thanks for taking the time to write such a detailed comment. Glad the stealth mechanics worked well, even though the movement feels off.

I enjoyed this greatly. It took me until the very end to figure out that you could club guards with the Nudelholz, but thats on me for not reading instructions again.

The main character's sprite is wonderfully adorkable, the writing was a lot of fun.

I do wished you could skip dialogue, since I had to sit through it a lot ( granted, atleast partially to blame on me not figuring out that I could knock out guards and sneaking by everyone instead ).

No bugs encounter, no major issues.

Bravo!

It's my first time writing a dialog system. Definitely needs a skip button or a level select that puts you straight into the level I feel like might have done the trick. Thank you for the feedback, our artist was very happy to read your comment!

Thank you!

Nice concept we went for similar sneak theme. I think it would be nice to be able to move in diagonal also.

Developer

Yeah the movement needs to be better next time. I'm excited to try your game in the next few days and see how you implemented the concept.

I absolutely adored the dialogue! I had a lot of fun playing. Bake biscuits, do crime!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Credit to our fantastic TheRealNudelholz for writing the dialog last minute Saturday night/Sunday morning xD

I like the visuals and audio desing. However movement was a little bit stiff. Still I liked knocking of the guards :)

Developer

theperfectmerge really went above and beyond with the art, happy to hear you enjoyed it. We'll take care to create better movement controls in the future. Also I love the knockout sound effect and animation combined they were very fun to put together.

I really enjoyed the small details in the environment building, and I thought that the level design was well done!

Developer

Nice, thank you for playing and taking the time to comment!

I like that this even has a bit of a story and characters! Movement controls sometimes feel stiff tho.

Developer

Yeah, the cute and funny story bits are so fun! Thank you for your feedback and time, the movement seems to be the biggest issue with our game so good to know for the future.

The concept is good, sneaking around a factory turning off cameras and avoiding guards fits right into the theme. Unfortunately the gameplay gets a bit overshadowed by the clunky movement. Only being able to walk one direction at a time and having other inputs eaten doesn't feel great. Feels like the move direction was obtained through a series of if statements. Additionally, just some small details to pay attention to like the layer ordering of objects versus the player, there is a good amount of objects that are drawn in front of the player when they shouldnt be

Developer

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed comment! We'll for sure pay more attention to the movement in future games and thanks for lettings us know about the wrong layer order!
