An interesting implementation of a traveling trader theme. Visuals and sound effects are cool. I was kind of stuck on a siren at first. Images of her wishes disappeared very quickly, even before I finished reading the text in the message pop-up that described her behavior. Adding a few more interactions with the ship or crew during the journey would also be beneficial.

Developer

There where some plans for more crew interactions, but they didnt make it. The siren event was kinda hard to balance, i can see it being frustrating when you are in the middle of reading the instructions

Thanks for giving our game a shot!

Loved the game! I really liked the art and idea. I could see this one being work on and getting further.

Good job team!

The itch page it’s also lovely

Developer

Hey, thanks for taking notice :)

Nice game! The art is really really good and the sounds are really funny. As a management games lover, I really loved this one

Developer

Thanks you for playing and the kind words!

The game art and itch.io page is beautiful!

The game mechanics were also really fun and creative.

  • The sirens and pirate ship mini games kept the game fresh.
  • The UI was well done and easy to pick up
  • The voice acting and audio was very humorous.

Only minor feedback is I would've loved to spend more time sailing. Sometimes, the stop at the next harbor came too soon. The game is already kind of chill so it'd be okay to extend the amount of time at sea feeding the crew biscuits.

If you get the chance, please feel free to check out our game as well! We'd greatly appreciate any honest feedback.

Best of luck in the jam!

Hey, thanks lots for the lengthy feedback. And for taking notice of the itch page :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Haha i had a good laugh at the screenshot. (The pirates dont get any filled biscuits on my travels either ;) )

And thanks for the feedback!

Very nice art!

The visuals are amazing!! I’m totally in love with the portrait art style. The sound design is wonderful too.
The gameplay is really fun, especially the mermaid part!
The only thing I’d add is the option to change volumes and pause during the game.

Developer(+1)

Appreciated! Doing the portraits was a lot of fun, even if the time spent would have been more useful elsewhere^^

We are pretty inexperienced when it comes to music - so its a miracle that this had audio at all - and its certainly an area where theres the most potential for improvement in future projects.

Submitted(+2)

ahhh your character art is so cool! and love the gameplay!

Developer

Appreciate that greatly.

Submitted(+2)

The art is stunning, and I enjoyed the addition of mini games such as the siren. Including a choice tree was also fun, although the game itself didn't really feel risky.

Developer

Thanks for playing our little game and for the feedback. I agree, due to deadlines we had to cut a few things, and the theme got lost a bit.

Submitted(+2)

The visuals are pretty beautiful, and the gameplay is also fun!

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the visuals.

Submitted(+2)

The game feels good and polished.

I wish there some goals on the map to move towards. And not a big issue, but it's better to explain drag and drop at first.

Developer

We've added tutorials at all only during the very last couple hours - we would have liked to do something more indepth, had we had the time.

Submitted(+2)

Not bad click&drag game.

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+2)

You know, how each element put together made the game pretty well polished and fun to play in each play!!! Well Done Lads!!!

Developer

Appreciated!

Submitted(+2)

Nice game, feels very polished and the art is amazing. I wish there was a clearer goal to strive towards to, for long term motivation to keep playing.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the art. We certainly had more planned in terms of ending(s) during development. But it was one of things that ended on the cutting room floor. We were happy that we got it out the door as is.

Submitted(+2)

I feel you, we had to scrape the boss room in our dungeon of all things 😅 it'll come after the jam and bug fixing is over.

Submitted(+2)

Great fun. I like the cookie economy! No bugs I found but got softlocked at the final island without not enough cookie or gold and being reset to the last harbour with no cookie and no gold didnt help xD
Good game, well done.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for being a biscuiteer and giving your best!

And thanks for mentioning the softlock... something we didnt had on our radar!

Developer(+1)

The risk of softlocking yourself is real, yeah. We're currently working on a solution, but so far it may introduce just another bug - solution might just have to wait until after the Jam :U

Submitted(+2)

The art is great, especially the character portraits. I've never been so serious about picking biscuits off a palm tree and placing them into a chest. The economy is pretty tight, I softlocked my first run. So I was super frugal on the second, only allowing my pirates plain bran biscuits and only when they were borderline mutinous. I only noticed the vendors offering different prices. on the last one (my bad). It could be really fun to incorporate some pick-up and deliver style economy; you can do that now, but because you travel linearly through the map, it becomes too random to do with intention.  Because the economy was so tight for me, I didn't really get to risk running low on biscuits for coin cause of my first softlock run fear. Had a good time though, music was also great

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing our little game and giving us so detailed feedback!

The softlock thing is something that was missed totaly by us. There will be a fix for that. Regarding the economy there are for sure some problems: giving the pirates not so valueable biscuits is a good strategy (i did it to haha) but the showing for a design flaw for sure. We wanted to implement a hit system to show player, where some biscuits may be better to buy or sell. Sadly it didnt make it into the game.

Developer(+1)

Very happy you enjoyed the art! You're not the only one who encountered the softlock issue. We're currently working on a solution, but running into n e w bugs in return. Ech.

Thanks for giving it another shot anyway!

Submitted(+2)

A full restart would probably be too harsh for this kind of game but I feel like go back 2 or three islands but get like 10 of each cookie and $150 could feel pretty reasonable. The only reason I soft locked was cause I started that travel leg with no cookies and no money cause I poorly managed multiple islands before that

Developer(+1)

Thats pretty much the fix we wanted to implement. But for some reason i "created" another bug, and we didnt risk the upload.

After the jam there will be the fix for this. Thanks for giving detailed feedback!

Cool game! I really liked the art style

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! Yeah our artist rocked it!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for appreciating the art :)

Amazing visuals! Love the artstyle, really nice game.

Developer

I'm glad you appreciate the visuals :)

Submitted(+2)

Great game with amazing visuals! Plays very nice on a phone - I managed to reach the end with 1080 gold. For mouse controls, it might do better with just clicking, instead of click 'n drag. Fantastic voice acting :D

Developer

Thanks for playing and giving us feedback! 1080 gold is impressiv! Good job!

On a phone you had also difficulties with dragging and dropping.

We are open for voice acting comission! (... no we are not, please dont ask ^^)

Submitted(+1)

Dragging and dropping works well - I just felt it was more enjoyable on a small touchscreen and a bit tiring with mouse, when playing in fullscreen :)

Submitted(+2)

Love the artstyle! Definitely leaves a bit to be desired in terms of sound effects, though.

Developer

Appreciate that you liked the art.

We sadly got no "sound guy" so its allways lacking in our projects. It's a small miracle that we had audio at all^^

Submitted(+2)

ahoyyyy Nice game !!

Developer

Appreciated :)
