How does the game fit the theme?
A quick decision between going for the bountiful fish harvest and possibly risking losing more fish, or even worse, losing your entire line. Not to mention the risk of going for a fish that could be perilous.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

Bro, really incredibly polished game. I'm impressed that you also made a Encyclopedia to the fishes, your game also has an upgrade system, and the core gameloop is pretty fun. I always try to avoid every fish I can, so I grab 1 and try to get all the fishes I avoided before, music and visuals are cool and have cozy vibes, congrats for your game.
Thank you for playing and for your acknowledgements of the features we worked on :). Glad you enjoyed and thank you again for your kind comment
Very rich and entertaining entry! It was very fun to play and I loved the fishpedia. I wished everything moved a slight bit slower, it was a bit much for me personally. Also I think having a more generous hitbox on the way up might make the game feel a little better for the player. I really tried to get to the bottom, but I couldn't and I got a little bit discouraged from trying again because it was so far away!
None of this impacted my enjoyment in a substantial way: this is great work team! Keep it up!
Thanks a lot for the feedback and we're glad you found it entertaining. Also, great job on nearly finishing the whole Fishipedia! As per your feedback, we're definitely going to try to balance stuff a bit when the jam ends. Thank you so much for playing!
a really great relax game! i think the speed is abit too fast to dodge. and also abit hard to catch the fishes when reeling up. i like the collectibles page as well. super good integration. great job!
Totally agree that it could be a little easier. Thank you for playing and glad you enjoyed and collected some fishies:)
Great relaxing fishing game, liked the fishpedia and the upgrades, overall a good polished game
Thank you for the kind comment. Very glad you enjoyed:)
This is such a well polished cozy game! Love the art and music! the funny descriptions on the Fishpedia are great as well, haha! Took me a couple throws to figure how to get the most of my throws, but then I was swimming in fish.. haha! Love that the bait is a biscuit! nice little touch! Super smooth experience! Great job for the team! ✨✨😊
So glad you found it as whimsical as we did and glad to hear you enjoyed the game:) The team thanks you for the kind comment <3
I liked the game. Relaxing, with nice graphics, with a challenge. Very funny descriptions of fish. But maybe it was necessary to limit control only with the mouse?
Glad you enjoyed! Not sure how mouse controls would feel but definitely worth considering, thank you for the comment.:)
Wow, the last time I played a fishing game was in sonic frontiers and link's awakening.
It took me about three hours to almost complete the journal (which is brilliant, by the way — I’m a sucker for those kinds of things and love learning about the fish). I would have preferred using keys over mouse movement, but it worked fine enough. Overall, it’s a great game with really good polish :)
Also try my game if you have time :o
So glad to hear that you enjoyed it and played it for as long as you did! The control scheme could use some improvements for sure but glad you enjoyed anyways. Thank you for your kind comment.:)
I enjoyed this game a lot! This fisihing mechanic felt much more rewarding than normal qte fishing minigames. Didn't have it in me to complete the journal (getting to the depth is quite hard), but bought all the power ups (still couldn't go to the max depth though T_T).
Thank you for the kind comment, very glad you enjoyed :). Truly reaching the depths is difficult, we wanted it to be a rewarding moment, but it's too hard even for the people who made the game haha. Still, thank you for playing and for your feedback :)
Really enjoyed this game! It would be nice to have a key to start fishing, like the space bar, so I can just sit back and catch fish without using the mouse. Love what you’ve done
Totally agree with you, it was a slight oversight. Thank you for the comment and glad you enjoyed :)
Cool game liked it quite a bit. Bringing the line down though felt kind of fast and it was pretty difficult to get low down into the layers. I also didn't understand which fish I could get based on which upgrade I bought. Still nice artstyle and cool music.
Such a beautiful game, loved the art style and the general aesthetic of the game. The fish descriptions were so funny. I don't know if I was tripping but there was a day night mechanic? The only thing I would recommend is making 'space bar' or a keyboard button as the 'Go Fishing' button also, so I can sit back in my chair and fill my fishpedia without needing to touch the mouse. Excellent job! 🤗
You're totally right, it would be much easier to press spacebar as opposed to grabbing the mouse, slight oversight but that's how it is in a jam :P. Thank you for the kind comment, I'm glad you had a good time filling in the Fishipedia. There is no day/night cycle, but it does get much darker the deeper you go. Thank you again for playing:)
Oh wow, there were a couple of games so far that I want to revisit later but this one straight up sucked me in and I lost track of time. Nice chill background sound, easy yet hard to master gameplay, good fetch / upgrade loop, cute graphics and animations and well balanced. Amazing job!
Thank you for your kind comment, we're truly glad you enjoyed. Glad to hear you can sink some time into the loop :)
This was a fun loop, I wonder how deep, I love the transition when you reel the fishes in and I wished i could hook for fishes in one go, that would be way more satisfying!
You can get as many fish as you want on the way up! And on the way down you can upgrade your biscuit to hook up to 3 before reeling back up. Thank you for playing and for the comment :)
Looks nice, like lo-fi music in a menu and water-reflexion shader. Gameplay is addictive at start, but after 10+ tries become little monotonous, it'd be nice to have some minigames for catching fishes and i'd like to have speed up button when the fish-rod is turning back. Nice work!
Thanks for the feedback! We'd love to revisit this project and improve it further so this helps us a lot; interesting idea with the minigames, it could work!
Glad you enjoyed :)
Very simple but oddly fun game! Goes to show how polish can really make a game comes to life. Good job!
I didn't quite like the speed, both vertical and horizontal, at which the line was going, but perhaps that's a skill issue. I thought it was too linear and fast. Also I thought the hitboxes on the way up was a little bit too small I couldn't get as many fishes as I thought I should. Maybe I hadn't played for that long, but I thought the "risk" mechanic wasn't very prominent in the game, but perhaps that's a good thing for such a casual game.
I do also like the pixel arts, the audio and the small flavor texts of the fishes. Overall a pretty good entry. Great job!
We appreciate the feedback!
Yeah, the speed and difficulty of the game is a bit more demanding at it's current state. We hadn't been able to playtest as much as we'd have liked sadly but we are taking note of all the feedback to receive for future games and maybe even to revisit this project after the Jam concludes! Definitely a lot of room for minor adjustments with speed, hitboxes and other improvements that would ultimately go a long way.
Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it overall :)
Such a satisfying game loop! This is one of my favorites, I'm saving it to go back later and catch the rest of the fish. One feedback would be that once you see a fish it would show a bit about it in the encyclopedia so that way you know what upgrade to get. Took me just a bit to figure out the jellyfish was losing me fish.
But so chill and fun to play. Apparently, I need more cookie upgrades to compensate for my lack of skill
We're really happy that you enjoyed the game enough to save it for later!
Yeah, it definitely could have been a easier for the player to find out whether each fish is hazardous and what they do; we will keep it in mind for the future.
Greatly appreciate the kind words and feedback!
This game is so fun and oddly addicting! I found myself playing more of this even after writing my feedback to comment, I wanted to collect all the fish! Love the art style, and the calming music to accompany the gameplay.
Quick feedback:
Overall, very fun and cozy game for casual gamers! You did such a great work putting this together in one week! Fantastic job!
Thank you so much for your kind comment and feedback :) Genuinely very glad to hear that you found it enjoyable. A drag on the bobber would definitely make it more challenging and make it feel more underwater. Thank you again for your comment and best of luck with your fishing. 🐟🐟🐟
Really nice game. Great art, music, and general ambiance. Getting to the bottom took a lot of focus, but it was very rewarding to finally get there. I had a ton of money left over by the time I finally accomplished this, so either skill issue or room for another purchasable upgrade or two. Either way, it was enough fun to stick around to the end. I couldn't abide leaving fish lore left behind.
Also, I'm asking for a fish piñata for my birthday. I will not elaborate further.
Glad you got to the bottom, thats something I haven't even done yet and I'm literally one of the people who made the game. So props to you:). Money does indeed pile up and there's more room for upgrades etc. In an ideal world we would've had time for more upgrades maybe even cosmetic purchases but alas, jam time restrictions. Nonetheless I'm glad you were able to uncover the fishing lore and complete your Fishipedia. Thank you very much for your kind comment.
(We can discuss the fish piñata post jam)
Very beautifully done, with great relaxing music! I really wanted to get to the bottom but it proved to difficult... I wish there was a bullet time (fish time?) mechanic to temporarily slow down time, or at least the reeling speed, and help dodge/catch fish :)
This is a very interesting and cool idea for a mechanic / upgrade you could have, would definitely make things a little easier. Glad you enjoyed, and thank you for your kind comment :)
Good and fun fishing game!
Thank you! :)
