How does the game fit the theme?
You need to choose between playing more safely or getting a higher time bonus.
The player has to choose between retreating or continuing and risking all their progress at each checkpoint they reach.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I used a tweening library and a few small utility scripts I made before.
The Sound Effects are from freesound.org and then edited. The music also was not made made by me.

Really addicting game, I'm sending this screenshot cause I was afraid that I'd loose this record lol. In my first try I thought the lava rocks actually were bonus, cause the sound effect was good to hear lol. But once I realised they give me damage I made better runs. Game very well polished, controls are simple and the theme fits so well, cause it's a risk to loose my highscore every new try.

Awesome game! Really enjoyed it!

Very smooth controls and good world generation.  I wish the camera was more zoomed out, I struggled to see obstacles in time to dodge them, but I'm not very good at these kinds of games, so that might be user error.  Good job!

No joke, I had so much fun playing that I forgot to rate it for 2 days. 5/5 on enjoyment.

Developer

Thanks for playing and glad you liked it a lot! And can definitly understand that, also spent probably well over 8 hours with playtesting when I should have been adding stuff to the game itself instead :)

This is quite a nice game. Movements are smooth and good to toy around. The speed is probably just right and doesn't feel too harsh to control, and yet it keeps the feeling of going really fast in the game. The graphics are clean and convey enough information to the player, yet they're not too busy.

I also really like the idea of going for scores, but with a slight disappointment that the risk part felt a bit downplayed. Like, if you go for risk and died, you will lose the whole run anyway, the risk and reward felt a bit unbalanced to me.

Anyway, this is still a cool game and I enjoyed it a lot. Well done!

P.S. got around 700k ish only in my best run

Developer

Thanks for the detailed feedback!
And totally get the point about risk, as others had also pointed out thats definitly something that I can improve about the game in the future.
Also very nice highscore! I spent a lot of time (probably too much) to get mine :)

Really nice feeling game, the movement and sound design are on point and really give that sense of speed I was hoping for. The main menu is surprisingly well made and even animated which is crazy lol. Even having a loading screen is wild! UI is really clean and all those multipliers that stack look great, I can't say I was too motivated by the idea of campfires but maybe with more of an incentive besides retreating or continuing I'd care more about them. Still a fun game, excellent work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and the feedback! The main menu and loading screen were tricky to get working with the web build but I think it was worth it. Originally also had a shop system planned and wanted to use the points as a currency so you had more incentive to actually retreat over dying (and also some upgrades at the campfires) but one week wasn't enough :) Maybe I'll add that some time after the jam

love the game, cookie movement and terrain generation is great.

Nice little hypercasual. The cookie felt really nice to control. Will definitely come back and try to beat my high score later!

Keep up the good work!

I like how fast the game plays! It can be pretty hectic, but it feels great when you have a long string of air time and squeeze right through a big patch of rubble. Nice job!

The fast paced movement feels nice, great work on the visuals and sound design

Love the sound design! The graphics are good as well and I liked the incorporation of the theme. I was a bit confused by the rules of touching lava, but then I learned that reading the game description is a thing. After that: funny game. Good job.

Played for a bit, still not sure if touching fire is good or bad. There is fire bonus, but I seem to die faster if I touch fires.
Great speed effect, nice track and pretty sweet game.

Developer

Thanks for playing and the feedback :) Turns out, its bad! (well mostly) But yeah thats definitly something I could have communicated better, wanted to add more damage effects but ran out of time for that.  The fire bonus is for surviving and continuing at higher difficulties (each time you continue going at a campfire)

The Fiery theme was awesome. I loved the visuals and the sound effects. The level design was great and was thought out well. I Had a blast.

I love games like this! "Black Emperor" (Motorcycle arcade game) is the epitome of that kind of game to me. Just the infinite going and having to tweak controls like this to stay safe.

I enjoyed the fire and obstacles while navigating in air. It does leave me wondering if the biscuit could be swapped out for something to give this game a slight narrative flair (but I could also be saying this because of how many biscuit aesthetic games I've seen now haha). Just a comment that came to mind as my cookie was falling into the abyss. Controls felt good- and the change of spin direction on the cookie is a nice touch.

Fun game, with nice movement and sound design! But I don't understand why game gives me a option to leave mines or continue

By the way, my best score is 139 900!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback and nice job on the score! The option to leave is given for you to save your current score instead of risking it. If you die, you loose and get no points at all. Originally wanted to add something like a shop to use your points so this mechanic would have made more sense but sadly ran out of time :/

The Movement feels is very tight and crispy!!  Had Lots of fun playing your game!

Very nice arcade runner. Cool and well-thought system of points calculation
