I really enjoyed while playing. The music fits with the game itself very well, also that Windows background looks cool!

Great work!

Developer

Thanks!

This was super fun! Didn't expect to like it as much as I did but it really was great! I absolutely love the music, that's the kinda vibe I wanted from the game and it delivered hard, excellent work on it! Gameplay was fun too, the risk was quite a smart idea, while I only ever reached 50% on the risk meter it did make me think from time to time if I should or not. The whole aesthetic was really well done! Really great work!

Thanks a lot for your feedback! This jam was a close call, so I'm happy that people liked the gameplay, the aesthetic and the music :)

nice game

Funny idea; at first I kept accepting the biscuits, until I realised that's bad

As soon as I realised this, I beat it first time (while sweating profusely), because I used the internet in the early 2000s, so muscle memory helped me with this realistic portrayal.

Great idea, simple, funny little game, well done

Developer(+1)

Ahah well done with muscle memory!

I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Really well made game! You absolutely nailed the vibe.

I had no idea that scrolling websites could leave me on the edge of my seat.

The only thing I want to point out is that there has to be a better application of the risk mechanic. What you have right now is way outside the box (which is great), but it didn't seem to influence the gameplay enough. I really like the idea, I'm just convinced there's a better way to use it. Game's still great though.

Also where on Earth did you find that conspiracy 'article'?

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your detailed feedback!

Yes, this game had a tough story: the gameplay that was thought as bad, as been kinda "salvaged" to be more interesting and fun.

Because of that, there might be a problem with the "risk" mechanic, which could have been a bit more intertwined with the scrolling.

All websites are real articles from Wikipedia, with a made-up title. The donut.earth website is the main Wikipedia article for "conspiracy theories" ;)

Reminds me of Kingsway, very creepy, sick though. Also the Music is great!

Developer

Thanks, what's creepy in your opinion?

Submitted (1 edit) (+2)

Not creepy, exactly- ominous is the word. The music is tense, and the antiquity of the operating system gives off a creepypasta type of vibe at least for me

Developer(+1)

Glad you like the music!

Super unique – what an interesting approach to the theme. The pop up ads really boiled my blood like they do in real life. Super fun, well done!

Developer

Thanks!

This is so funny, i love it!
My ideas for improvement, although it's very good experience as it is :

- ads move and open a new tab when you misclick on close button

- may be you need to go through a few links to find the button, and there are troubles with biscuits on each jump

- at the end of the game i kind of remembered where the button is for each site type, i guess you could place it between random paragraphs

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing the game, and for your valuable feedback!

Great idea. The art style is fun and the idea is very solid and polished. Great job.

Developer

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Pretty fun idea! Too bad you can't just search the site for the button, that would make it a lot easier :D speeding up the music everytime cookies are accepted is a nice touch as well. Good job

Developer

The Mario Bros. effect....

I think there's a lot of potential hiding in this concept... The premise of hiding a game in a website, or of integrating web-surfind and Windows XP into a game, I think is quite tantalizing. Makes me think of a website that's haunted. I'd encourage a refined version of this to come out. Keep it up! Also, props to a fellow Godot dev - Godot for life!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! I love the "haunted website" idea, there's something to do with it clearly. Will think about it!

Godot power 💥🔗 (web builds are working so well with this engine, that's awesome).

Really like the idea behind this game. Had a fun while playing it :)

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!

very interesting and unexpected take on the theme! i made it to level 3 but i don't think i'm skilled enough to go past that. i found the main music irritating but i thought it was really fiting with the stressful/frustrating vibe of the game, i really felt at work.

BUT i really like the sound when you accept/refuse the biscuit and found the whole vibe oddly satisfying!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your comment ! Level 3 is the last one :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it, the repetitive/irritating feeling was clearly something we have strived for!

A fun game overall, a really fresh take on the theme! I can see where some of the people's frustration comes from, as some pages are way too long for comfort, but I personally had a ton of fun!

Developer(+1)

Yeah frustration is a big part of the challenge. I'm glad you had fun!

Submitted(+2)

Funny idea (would have never thought of these kind of cookies :) )

Really Good Job.

Developer

Thanks!

Funny gameplay, hit close to home with having to navigate all of the awful websites nowadays!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Glad you liked it :)

Submitted(+2)

OH MY GOD THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!

...

Which makes it really good, I guess xD. Nice take on the theme, and I can say that it's a really good satire of today's web xD.

Developer

Thanks! We had fun building these silly websites and ads 😂

Submitted(+2)

Funny gameplay and a bit frustrating. I don’t like cookies, but I think that was the point. Good job!

Developer

Thanks!
