Description
Genre: ambient, minimalistic
Short RPG Demo video game called "One Summer Knight" about a knight sitting by a campfire (1. By The Campfire), he is ambushed (2. ambushed), a fight starts (3. The Fight), he travels towards a ferry pier (4. The Fire is slowly dying), where he encountered other battles with battle theme 3, and ambushed theme 2. He takes a ferry from the pier (5. Taking the Night Ferry). Then we see the ferry sail out into what would be the full game, but here the demo ends (6. End of Demo).
I composed the music after getting the idea of twisting the last word in the Theme "One Summer Night" into "One Summer Knight".
The music is composed in Sibelius by Avid using the sound from Noteperformer 5.

Theme

One Summer Night

How does it fit the theme?
A twist to the theme where I instead of the word "Night" use "Knight". One Summer Knight who goes on an adventure at nighttime

I do really like The Fire Slowly Dying, I just wish earlier songs, especially the main battle theme, were more fleshed out too- That being said, the soundtrack is very pretty, and The Fire Slowly Dying would definitely make for a good area theme. Nice work!

And next time I will use the tip of more energy and punch for "The Ambush" and "The Fight". I would probably make each piece longer, like "The Fire Slowly Dying", after reading this tip. Thank you so much for the tips

honestly, this whole thing feels romantic somehow, even song 3

Definitely not what you were going for, I can see, but that's just how it is right now

Developer(+1)

I was maybe thinking kind of romantic for pieces 1, 4  and 5 at least, but the other adopted the idea of the main leitmotif and became kind of romantic too

Your take on the theme was super clever - I really admire that!

I would love to have heard a bit more range of intensity, especially in tracks like 'The Ambush' and 'The Fight'. You could easily achieve this by adding more low end to your tracks, making certain things hit (and more importantly) feel harder and more intense.

My favourite track of the bunch was definitely 'The Fire Slowly Dying'.  It progressed so beautifully, and had a great amount of variety. Loved the somber tone of it!

I also really appreciate you uploading your entire soundtrack in one video! It made it a bit easier to rate and it was super cool to see how you were able to seamlessly connect them. Really helped with the story telling element of the submission as well!

Thank you for liking my theme idea :-)

I liked the medieval colors throughout the OST! I'd love to see a bit more ravaging intensity in tracks like the ambush to really shake things up while keeping the theme consistent. Good work!

Thank you. Next time I will remember thanks to your and others' comments, add more punch to pieces similar to The Ambush and The Fight

I like that you have an identifiable musical theme throughout the OST. The next step is to incorporate variations of the theme: rhythmically, harmonically, scalar, fragmented, stretched out, shortened, etc. You'll get way more mileage out of a theme by changing it up.

In that vein, the first three tracks happened too quickly and they weren't differentiated enough in mood. "By The Campfire" is laid back (as it should be). "The Ambush" should punch and really break the safety set up in "By the Campfire." "The Fight" should then capitalize on the initial punch and thrash around - it's far too safe.

Keep practicing and keep at it.

I always appreciate a soundtrack that feeds one song into another.

My experience with the song is an echo of the other comments here. The individual songs are the start of something really interesting but they end relatively fast to 'The Fire Slowly Dying' (Which itself is good!)

My gripe with this is that I want to hear where you take each of the different mucosal ideas. I got a good listen to Fire Slowly Dying and said 'Oh ok! thats how you evolve a more somber jrpg track!' and I really appreciated your work on it, but I want to hear that same evolution from each of the other songs as well so i can appreciate them more.

Good work on the jam! Keep this up and youll have some really amazing stuff very soon.

Rather then multiple tracks, this feels more like just 1 long track instead.

For the ambush and fight parts the feel of the the energy/feel of the track does not really change all that much compared to before and what comes after, so it didn't really feel that much like there was a confrontation at all.

Just how I felt while listening, but still good work!

It's a cool idea to have basically just one long piece that covers most of the story and you execute that very nicely. Like Jofes also mentioned, the proportions feel off with "The Fire Slowly Dying" taking up so much more time than the other tracks and the flute runs in "The Fight" make me think more of fleeing rather than standing your ground. In "Taking the Night Ferry" and "End of Demo" I hear your Uematsu influences most clearly. Those are tracks that would very much fit a game in the style of Final Fantasy 9.

I like how you keep your instrumentation simple and your succinct delivery of the theme.

The fire slowly dying is really long compared to the other songs which made the pacing feel a little strange.

I think overall the music is good though I feel you could add even more to them since they can feel a bit basic at times.

This is really well done! The storytelling is spot on, and you nailed the vibe perfectly. 'The Fire Slowly Dying' is my personal favorite; I also love the way you use that leitmotif in various songs.

Thank you so much for the nice comment!
