How did you incorporate the given theme in your game?
You need to collect shells, corals and pearls to make necklaces! On the pause menu it tells you how many of each item you have collected in the overworld (not including profit from selling necklaces).

Loved the controls, very smooth and runs well with no problems. The minimap was very useful and I actually liked the look of it! I do admit though that I found myself going around in circles a few times before understanding how to "jump" up to the next zone. The map also felt a bit empty, it took me a minute or two to find more things after the initial section. I'd like to play this again once it get a bit more polish. Overall, pretty good mermaid content, I approve! 👍
Fun game! The ocean felt vast and mazey, reminded me of the old Ecco game, but with more freedom of movement
The music was super chill, unfortunately it kinda stopped at one point? Super well placed SFX, collecting felt great. The controls felt good (especially the dashing), I had a lot of fun jumping into the air to see if I could reach next area . The pause menu can be cleaned up a bit, especially when raised over the necklace making. I do wish NPC's or items of note would show up on the minimap, also I think the minimap helped a fair bit but is still a bit confusing. The enemies were a bit tricky as they would hit you too soon. NPC dialogues also flowed super smoothly and the art direction was super cozy.
Super solid work, very polished release for the jam!
"We have Silksong at home" tier.
PS. what I meant with pause-over-crafting being a bit messy
I really enjoyed this game! The music is very soothing, and the sound effects are very satisfying. I like that are unique sounds for collecting the different pearls. The characters and writing were all very cute and well done! The controls were very easy to understand and use, although it did feel weird having the same button that stuns enemies also dash you towards your mouse and by extension the enemy. The map can feel a little samey and empty, but that's difficult to avoid in a game about the ocean, and the mini-map helped a lot with navigation. I also felt like the enemies were sometimes difficult to react to when dashing around (Though this is likely a skill issue on my end). Overall a really solid job!
Very cool mermaid game!! I collected all the pearls. I love the mermaid movement I think it worked very well!
Only feedback I have is that I wish the map wasn't as big or had more variation (I got a little lost) but it also makes sense for a game jam and ocean!
The game art and audio is so adorable, although i was stuck at one point in an area of the map and forgot that respawn existed, other than that the gameplay is fun, great work :>
OMG your did it ! You created a mermaid game !! Absolutely loved it, now I want to play 100x mermaid games !! (your art style is so cool, I love the colors !!)
Yay! Thanks for playing!! I love your artstyle so I'm really happy to know you like the artstyle ^_^
I liked the design and theme! The music stopped playing after a while and a shark teleported with me back to the start at one point
Thank you for playing and the feedback (will look into it)!
Very pretty game! I'm a Mermaid Melody fan and the capsule art really spoke to me
Swimming around was really fun! I did struggle with launching myself out of the water initially, but it was fun once I got the hang of it! having some water particles would have made swimming even more satisfying
Wow I LOVED Pichi Pichi Pitch growing up so it definitely was an influence in making this game (along with the Barbie movie: Barbie in a Mermaid Tale). Thanks for playing and the feedback about the particles :)
omg I love Barbie in a Mermaid Tale too!! (the queen of the waves song is my absolute favorite barbie movie song HAHA)
This is such a unique concept! I love how you successfully tied all the seemingly disparate gameplay elements together into one cohesive whole. If this were expanded into a narrative-driven game where certain necklace designs have an impact on the gameplay or story, I know I'd really enjoy it! Certain elements reminded me of an unusual 90s game called "Ecco the Dolphin"- was that an inspiration by any chance?~ (if so, you have great taste imo <3)
Thank you for playing! I wanted to have a game with different movements but I really wanted customization elements in my game thus mermaid movement + necklace making! I actually had not heard of "Ecco the Dolphin" until now but thank you for recommending it :D
We need more mermaid games in the world. I loved the necklace mechanic, and the NPCs were adorable. Thank you for making this.
Thank you so much for playing! I was very much inspired by CuteGamesClub's video about mermaid games to try making one :) I want to see more mermaid (and fairy) games 🐚✨
I love her and her unapologetic girlyness. Same, more representation for the forest and the sea girlies 🧜🏼♀️✨🧚🏽♀️
The collection SFX are awesome, it makes collecting the items extra fun and the pearls extra special. The music is great too. It all goes together so well with the colors and the vibe.
Dashing through air pockets was an unexpected and fun ability. Soaring through the air, collecting an item or two as I arc gracefully, then fish flopping back into the water... exquisite.
I appreciated the little bits of narrative when you could meet the different characters, and that if you go back to talk to them again they have another snippet of dialogue for you. It took me a while to explore the entire map and find the clam shell passages, but I did it, and didn't even go into shell debt!
I call this design "The Necklace of Seasons," containing the combined skills of April, June, August, and October.
I can't believe you completed the entire game! I am incredibly thankful that you took so much time to go through everything (and very impressed that you managed to get to 100 shells haha). Thank you for noticing the different snippets of dialogue! I didn't think people would revisit the NPCs but added it just in case.
I absolutely love your "necklace of the seasons" design. In my original idea, I wanted there to be a "cookbook" for the different necklaces. So if you made a certain necklace (e.g. a design with shells, then blue coral, then pink pearl), you would "unlock" that design! One of my "recipes" was actually like the necklace you made! You would've gotten a special achievement for making a necklace with all the pearl protector's pearls!
This felt really fleshed out and I didn't even manage to get all the abilities! Great job!
I was surprised how big the map was. I really like that you can unlock different abilities.
Movement was very fun and concept was very fresh for a girly game. Gameplay features were executed very well.
Thank you so much for playing! I struggle with gameplay sometimes so I'm super happy to hear you liked it :)
Very cute concept! I love the exploration and progression of finding the pearl protectors and new abilities
Thank you for playing! Glad to know that getting the other pearl protectors wasn't too difficult ^_^
This game is absolutely gorgeous! I love the color palette you used! Extremely fun gameplay and overall great game <3
Thanks for playing! I used lospec (would recommend as a good palette resource!) to get some ideas but I ended up combining colours from a lot of different palettes (and filtering some).
