At the start, the fights felt a little slow, especially when trying to preserve health as I had no way to heal. But every powerup could actually be felt in the fights which I really liked. The overall style and vibe fit pretty well! Very well done!

Thank you so much!

I really liked this game!

The art style was awesome, and the characters in particular looked great! The battles were fun and engaging, and it felt very much worth it to gather all of the upgrades before moving on to the final boss.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT PLAYED:

My only real critique for the game is probably how the ending choice is made. If you choose to spare the boss, you die and lose the game. This would make sense, but the (green, I think?) monk has you answer a series of questions, all pointing you towards mercy.

I figured since these questions were set up in the side areas, it was a hint as to how to beat the boss (much like the invincibility charm). But when prompted with this in the final area, mercy just grants you a loss.

Other than that, I had a lot of fun with the game, and am happy to say I was able to make it that far!

Very well done, I'd be interested to see where you evolve this idea if you ever come back to it!

Developer

Thank you!

You're probably the third person to bring this up, and I totally agree! Consider it a plot hole, if you will. I didn't even think of that while I was in the middle of making it. Honestly, I was probably more focused on getting the game to work than on those important story points. I'm still somewhat of a beginner programmer, so the combat was a big challenge for me. I do plan on coming back to this game at some point. If not to expand it into a longer, more advanced game, then to at least fix bugs and add in the things I wasn't able to during the jam period (SFX, animations, more art, etc). Thank you again for playing :)

Always appreciate a fellow artist working on a game! It was a great effort especially for a single person.

This was fun! I enjoyed playing it, thanks. I liked the feeling of going between dodging and using invuln to take no enemy damage

Developer

Thank you!

The idea of dodging and attacking by moving my position is innovative. That's great.

The battle pace feels a little slow though, especially after a few repeated fights—it might be because of the animation speed or something else.

By the way, the little pixel chibi character is really adorable, I love it! And also kudos to the art!

Good job! :D

Thank you :)

Cool game!  I enjoyed the story and dialogue!  The starting fights with the blue orbs dragged on a bit so I ended up avoiding them wherever possible.  I also liked the BG elements you put in!  Super sci-fi vibe!

Thank you!

The game is interesting, I like that you can use your health to do a stronger attack, it's a nice risk factor. The visuals are nice but could use some mroe polish in the UI side of things. Overall I quite enjoyed it, well done!

Crazy impressive for one person! Really loved the art and music. I think the battles could have been more polished by adding more weight to attacks, maybe with sound effects or beams that hit each other, as right now they just kind of swing towards each other. Other than that I really liked basically everything about the game, the twist on turn based battles where you can sacrifice health was cool and the side missions to get stronger were pretty fun. Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much! I definitely wanted to add more SFX and VFX to the battle segments during the game-making period, but ran out of time. If I ever come back to this, that will be one of the first things I add!

I couldn't figure out how to make myself stronger for the boss; if anything I just made myself weaker by battling all the space ships.

Very ambitious to make a whole RPG for a game jam. The art was very cool, good job for drawing the characters!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! You’re supposed to be able to go to up to 3 different areas to get different abilities. But you can also just go straight to the boss. Thats part of the risk factor. Thank you for trying my game out anyway!

This was super interesting to play, loved the artwork!

What a nice little game, the art and music are good and different from the other jam games, the sfx is lacking but still not bad, overall just a good entry!

really liked the artwork and character designs, combat was ok but defeating enemies doesnt give you anything. giving something will be nice, tho the combat got a little stale after a while, but overall it was a nice game

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the critique!

Great artwork and music overall. More sound effects for the battles would really add to the game feel!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Sound effects are definitely something I would add if I ever came back to this game

There's a really impressive amount of content in this for a jam game! I like the writing too. Great work!

Amazing game,
awesome graphics and story and loved the trials, the battle system is very original.
But there is not much challenge in battle once you understand it. I did 2 ending, saving the word with goddess and without any upgrade. Sorry it was too tedious to do other endings.
And i did not understand the meaning of having enemies, you gain nothing by defeating them, and they are avoidable.
Overall this was awesome game, going forward i recommend thinking of ways to make battle system more challenging and diverse.

Developer

Thank you! Improving the combat system is definitely something I want to look into!

Wonderful game with amazing polish for a game made in a week. Fantastic art, music, and story! I didn’t get to save the world because I gave Vyra mercy but still had a great time playing!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Interesting little game. I wasn't able to complete it, but I'll definitely try again later.

Keep up the good work!

Pretty interesting game, it tackles the theme of risk in a pretty interesting way, and the gameplay was quite enjoyable.

The game looked really polished and sounded great.

The game's art is very beautiful, congrats! A few sound effects are missing for some attacks; I think they would have had more impact that way. It's really incredible what you've accomplished in 7 days. Well done!

Developer

Thank you! More SFX was definitely on my list of things I wanted to add, but didn't have time to! If I ever come back to the game, I'll definitely be adding those.
