Game Description
A cozy puzzle about building a happy little neighborhood.
How does your game tie into the theme?
The whole game is about expanding the city of Rumo. You'll also go through stages different stages of development. Early on, the player starts with small, simple structures, but as the game advances, new demands appear and bigger, more complex buildings become available

Really cool, cozy game! I especially liked the visuals and the cars driving through the streets! The controls and city building mechanics are well implemented, the only thing I would have wished for is an automatic street tile selection, based on adjacent tiles.
Great job!
Great work, city builders are a beast of their own. It was very intuitive; and I appreciate the attention you gave to camera control.
Very neat, things caught up with me pretty quickly as i started to absolutely min-max my space and cram everyone in to a reeeeal tight spot. Good thing i don't do city planning for reals or we'd all be living in a hellscape.
Very nice! I loved your illustration for the page background/menu also btw.
Really cool and cozy game! I had a bug that I guess others didn't where the road was kinda flying around on either side of cursor, like it would go back and forth from side to side with increasing magnitude until it disappeared. Dunno what that is about! But really nice work, I liked the gameplay loop of seeing peoples needs and building the roads, it felt a lot more personal and satisfying than the city builder system where you have like a "education" bar and it goes down if there arent schools nearby. Nicely done!
I had a genuinely lovely time playing this. As a city builder, it does a great job capturing the theme of expansion through both mechanics and pacing. Watching your humble beginnings gradually evolve into a bustling little neighbourhood was properly satisfying. The progression is smooth and accessible, letting you steadily expand your reach without stress. I also really appreciated the gentle pacing and lack of fail states which allowed the city to grow at your own tempo. It’s a chill experience that still manages to offer moments of planning and satisfaction as the town takes shape.
Visually, it fits the autumn theme in a subtle but effective way. The warm palette and soft, dusty colours give it an earthy tone that matches the seasonal vibe well. The little touches like the vehicle movement and building animations bring everything to life without overcomplicating the scene. UI is clear and to the point, and although the road placement controls took a bit of trial and error to get used to, the overall UX was solid. There’s an impressive level of polish here for a jam build.
OMG, thanks a lot for playing and for the thoughtful feedback. It's so nice to hear that you enjoyed playing it as much as I enjoyed making it.
In case I develop this further, I'll surely take a look and improve the road building system!
Glad you enjoyed, thanks for the awesome comment!
It really was my pleasure honestly. Something about this really clicks with me on a spiritual level. Plus, I can’t forget your review, comment and interest in our submission so early on. As someone new to game jams, I couldn’t help but feel nervous as I waited for the jam’s response and reaction to my audio work.
Keep me in the loop with this. Would love to see an update from you with all new features! I’ll of course let you know if PopRocks ever gets a difficulty toggle (It very likely will!)
I love a good world builder so well done !
It ran smoothly and looked good with nice responsive sounds. The only thing that felt z bit always was the road building and placement but I appreciate there is so much you can do for a game jam.
Good entry 👍
Thanks a lot for the comment and overall feedback! Glad that you enjoyed it.
The road building system for sure deserves some attention here and, in case I'll develop this further, I intend on doing an auto-detection system, for the roads to change themselves automatically based on how many adjacents road tiles it has.
Thanks again!
It looks and sounds great, plus it fits the theme really well. I really wanted to be able to use the number keys to switch between road types since I couldn't get the hang of Q and E, so I actually just wound up placing intersections everywhere. Good luck driving, citizens!
Oh, that idea for switching pieces with the number keys is really good! Thanks for that, if I continue on developing this, I'll probably remap the Q/E system to that (I wasn't 100% liking it as well hahah)
Thanks a lot for the feedback and glad that you had a fun time :)
Deceptively deep and really amazing to have created a city builder with so many different bits in such a short time! Sound design, music and animation really added to the vibe and I liked that you leant into the cosy-ness by not really having a fail state.
Awesome work!
Thanks a lot for the comment and for the feedback, super glad that you enjoyed it!
And yes! Initially I thought on having a fail-state with timers and all that stuff, but, the added tension wasn't matching the cozy vibe I was looking for, so, that idea was discarded. Glad that it was noted.
Thanks again and see ya :)
I'd love to see this game grow bigger and have more "resources management" elements and maybe terrain limitations, like rivers or stuff like this so you have to build bridges and stuff.
I think it was a nice execution overall! the poping sound was a good selection :)
So nice to see that you enjoyed it! I had plans to add more terrain stuff (rivers/geographical stuff and being able to build parks, for example) but, ended up without a lot of time to do those.
Those elements are sure noted, though. In case I develop this one further, I'll make sure to add some stuff like that.
Thanks for the feedback and for playing :)
Fun builder! wish there were some constraints on the roads (i can just use the same type of road to connect between stuff), and also I can build buildings overlapping with other buildings (tested with schools). Still, amazing work, making a building game within a game jam.
Thanks a lot for the feedback and for playing the game! I tried hard to build a system that won't allow overlapping but, wasn't able to make it functional in the jam time hahaha.
Glad that you enjoyed and rest assured that those ideas will probably be added in case I develop this further :)
Hi it was my first city building game. Enjoyed it thanks. nice vibe and music I played little after it got laggy in my browser day: 48 rank: metropolis++ constructions: 343
Hey Iman! Thanks a lot for the feedback and for playing. Glad that you had your first experience with a city builder game with Rumo and super happy to see that you liked it!
In terms of performance, I'm aware that as you progress in the game, it can be a little laggy, but, if I continue developing this, I'll make sure to fix that!
Thanks and see ya :)
What an awesome little city builder game! Everything works really well, and I love the little cars driving on the roads. If I had a critique, it would be that I'd like to be able to rotate the camera. Maybe that's a feature already, but I couldn't figure out how to do it lol. Great little game! Like this a lot. Also, very cozy vibes. Keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot for the feedback! Glad that you enjoyed playing as much as I enjoyed doing it!
You can press (and hold) the right mouse button to rotate the camera! There are a few too many controls to the camera, so, I might not have focused on it enough in the tutorial.
