Very imaginative and fun puzzles! I like how each Skremplet has different art styles for their dreams, and the way objects interact between dreams was so fun to play with. Really good pacing for a short Metroidvania-esque game, the music set the vibes perfectly each dream. Loved the scare of going into Giant Foozloo's dream for the first time!
Thanks! I'm pretty happy with how the Foozloo dream turned out, despite being the simplest in terms of art.
Looove the variety of art styles/music in this and really creative game mechanics!
So creative and wonderful! Ruthlessly thoughtful and imaginative, the level design really makes you engage with the game. I love how interactive and tactile everything is. Just exceptional and weird (in the best possible way).
This is insanely good. Love the way all the dreams are interconnected and tons of nice polish on things like how text is displayed, the transitions between dreams and how each dream has its own art style. Id really love to see how you went about planning all of this out.
Incredibly cool game. Love all the different art styles, love the music changing between dreams, and I'm seriously impressed by the game design. Going in and out of the dreams so smoothly and solving them piece by piece to solve the house is really satisfying. It feels like one cool, complex level across six different dimensions. The resolution and how it ties into the Covert Environmentalism is stellar too. This is definitely a stand-out. Great job!
Also, I feel like Jim (Jims?) is your team's unofficial mascot at this point. Seeing him riding what I believe is the creature from your Seraphina game got a nice laugh out of me.
Thank you so much! The original pitch was a single-room metroidvania, which eventually evolved into a multi-dream puzzle game. We tried to make the dreams' layouts be based on the real-world room to further the connection.
Jims has definitely become our mascot. They're an easy character to just fit in wherever needed. I'm really happy to see everyone recognize them when they show up.
This game is crazy! Took me almost an hour to get through but I really enjoyed it. The way the music changes in the different dreams is a neat touch!
Really cool game! Also, the variety of art styles per dream is a great touch! You nailed the presentation!
I loved the mixed media-like art, the animations, and platforming and puzzle mechanics. Your music also complimented the game's vibes and unique aesthetics.
The art, presentation, and overall vibes are fantastic! Love how varied and dreamlike everything felt. Character portraits, animated text, and Pastoriche's movement animations give it so much personality. Great work!!
Thank you so much! This was the first time we asked for outside help on art because we wanted so many styles. This was also the first year Handstandish did a significant amount of animations, and I also think they turned out great.
holy moly this game wrinkled my brain! The different art styles was such a treat, and the way the music transitioned from style to style was such a nice touch. The presentation on your game is fantastic!
Also, it's always great seeing the Jims.
Thanks! Lanceolate, the musician, was adamant that we implement a system to fade between the tracks naturally. So, all the tracks are playing in the background and we fade between them as you enter/exit the nightmares.
Jims almost didn't make it in. His original section was cut, and then at the very end I remembered the Elephant award and got him in there.
Very cool concept! Really nice puzzle design having the actions in different nightmares effect each other. Kind of reminded me of some Zelda puzzles where you would do something in the dark world or different time to effect the other version of the world.
Loved the watercolor art!
I'm still working through the game (got to the ice cubes & second keener), but its insanely cool dragging items between dimensions and having a lore reason behind the different art styles. You really did manage to capture of a dream/nightmare environment. I felt clever solving a few of the early puzzles too. There are hints, but it's not explicit which is the best way to let players discover how environmental pieces interact. I think the first sign that things were going to be weird was seeing the 3D Foozloo model lol, it's unsettling like seeing 3D Models in Courage the Cowardly Dog.
Haha thanks! I'm glad it's resonating with you so well. This is the first year we had to bring on multiple artists to get all the different art styles. I even wrangled my sister in to do the water color art for Gretchen's dream. She hand painted and scanned them in.
Yo! I made it to the attic. The way you manipulate objects to affect other dreams was a good brain burner. It all really clicked together when I got the boots by turning on the thermostat (and later having to turn it off :p). K, L, Red Eyes, and the left side of Keener's room, were fun discoveries too. I think I got a little lucky in Keener's room and got the key earlier than I should have, but still had to wait for L. Awesome game
