This game has a really great visual style, and the sound design is on point - I can tell that a lot of care put put into the UX of the game and how it was intended to feel.

However, the music got a bit repetitive though, it could've benefitted from a few more themes (especially one that fit the tension of the scenes). Also the game seemed to introduce a lot of areas and characters in one small interconnected area,...

it might be more beneficial to not introduce everyone in the same small area, rather starting with smaller puzzles and maybe just one character and building them up, slowly introducing more.

Love the homage to monkey island/lucasarts adventure games though.

This game was a lot of fun.

The artwork was great and the game included a lot of lore throughout. Also, the puzzles to free Connor’s friends were well thought out and provided a challenge.

Btw, I did run into a funny bug if you free Pete and Ludwig from the vines without talking to them first.

Haha XD. We noticed this error last minute and were like no way someone just solves the puzzle directly without interacting with them first XD. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Fantastic art, pretty decent pint-and-click adventure game (i got stuck cause the podcast mic dissapered from my inventory so I had to restart to finish it)

Submitted(+2)

The art is fantastic and the story was cute! I had a few bugs with the items but it happens. The music was super chill too, great job!

Amazing art and cute animations. I'm bad at puzzle games but I still had a good time, good work!

ui and sound design with buttons tends to fall by the wayside these jams but wow they made a nice (not crazy but nice) impression at the start and i appreciate that. i'm rather charmed by the banana peel dialog pointer. even the inventory has the vines on the frame and ease motion on the expand..... the art style is quite cute and pleasant, some people could have looked more distinctly like themselves at a glance (chris paul ludwig) but that's just me being extremely nitpicky.

unfortunately the game design fell short in comparison, me and a friend watching me play luckily managed to get through it without most of the tutorial (besides finding the rock.....) but i did have to restart it to get the microphone back and it was rather fiddly dragging items to the exact correct object (eg: vines only right near the wheels? rope down the hole but not on the bike) but it def seems like a time nerf 😞 😞 😞

puzzle design was also, bit too formulaic and convoluted overly convenient but, well. anyways a small thing i think you could've done to make it feel better was up the speed on text and movement around the scene. and also might've just been how the puzzles had us looking around for stuff but some backgrounds looked like you might be able to go to another room (left of the podcast and down to the campfire) but regardless. props to the ui it did stand out to me.

Thank you for the in-depth look! I appreciate it alot :D. Yeah a major thing that led to some of the problems was not enough playtesting and some last min changes in the last second.  To give some insight into things:

1) You are absolutely right about the item system and detection. It definitely   needs  some major improvements,

2) You are right about the text feeling a bit slow especially with the amount of text we have. But, clicking should just skip the typing and give you the entire text block.

3) Keeping the puzzle design simple was an intentional choice on our part as we wanted more people to experience the whole story rather be stuck figuring stuff out. But that failed due to point 1 XD. Also adding more stuff would just increase the artist's work load which was already quite alot.

And again thankyou for your insights. This helps us improve what we do in the future.

2) yeah true i did do the spam click thing in my restarted runs.

3) feels rather tough to come up with good object scenario puzzles within such a short timeframe with enough time for everyone to deliver, so i totally understand how it's the way it is. but, maybe with experience or something there's surely a way to make better puzzles still with the limitations in mind.

but well, good luck on what you do next! would be cool to see you cracked the code next monkey jam maybe πŸ˜³

A really nice and chill point and click game. I liked what you did with the story, and the art was on point!

I did mess up the order the first time I played it, and had to use the walkthrough to get to the ending, so that kinda took a little away from it for me. But overall very well done!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, unfortunately  didn't have enough time to play test. It's a simple fix but what's done is done.

I know the feeling . There's a lot I would fix in my game too, if I had more time.

Really good art <3 and the intro song is really good! sadly i broke the game ^^ i clicked the mic on the desk before i distracted the monkeys, so the mic was gone but i dont got the axe, but its fine, the game looked awesome anyway :D

Submitted(+2)

I loved the art style, it really is a cute  game

Never has a game gotten me THIS close to tears!! πŸ₯ΉπŸ’•πŸ’ž

Truly an immaculate experience! πŸ€ŒπŸ½βœ¨πŸ’«

10/10 no notes!! πŸ™ŒπŸ½β€οΈβ€πŸ”₯

(Okay, maybe SOME notes, like items being hard to find and click, like that damn blasted rock!! But other than that, this is a well-made and solid game that simply has NO BUSINESS being as good and pure peak as it is!!)

Developer(+1)

Thank you for enjoying and playing it! :D

Very accomplished game in such a short period of time, fun story. The assets are fantastic, when I clicked the inventory and it opened it was so nice and clean. And you got the thing in point n click games where the character gets bigger or smaller depending on where they are on screen; it's subtle and easy to miss!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

thanks for the nice comment! I am so glad you noticed the size change. I was very stubborn about that feature XD Poor duckindisguise had to comply with my whims

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

I'm glad someone noticed :,D . It took some time to figure out how to pull it off but I'm glad it worked out in the end!

it was so lovely! the art is spectacular, the fucking slipper as a walking cursor took me out,  the writing sounds just like the real people it's based on, everything in this game is on point and just pure fun! as someone who's made a point and click game for a game jam in the past, i give this a full 5 star rating, this is just pure awesomeness!

(i was only confused by the letter n missing on the cover lol)

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! I loved you past games a lot. (Believe me, me too... but i guess making a logo 30 min before the deadline was not a good idea XD i just forgot)

I love these style games so much brings me back to the good days of flash. i couldnt get anything done nor "beat" it because all i could pick up was the podcast mic and id lose it everytime i tried to click with it, also couldnt pick up the banana in the tree so i assumed there was something else to get, other than the podcast mic i couldnt find any more things to pick up or interact with so i sadly couldnt complete the game, but i love it all around the art and dialog is fun and amusing and i restarted many many times just so i could see if i was able to comlete just sadly couldnt figure it out!

Developer

Thank you for the review :D ! I've added a walkthrough in the description if you want to give it another go.

Man, I feel like it's been two decades since I last played a point and click game like this. It was a very cute, short and sweet experience. I absolutely adore the art, especially Mousey - came out great ^^ but they are all super cute. The final image is also so cool, easy 5 stars on the visuals.
Moke Island gets a big stamp of approval from me ^^

Developer(+1)

thank you so much for playing and enjoying it! Mousey was my favorite to draw

Submitted(+2)

Love the visuals and the throwback to old point-n-click adventures!

Sadly I couldn't progress past the "rock and podcast mic" stage, since I kept losing the mic whenever I tried to interact with the monkeys in the leftmost scene. Unlike the rock the mic didn't reappear in my inventory and I couldn't click anywhere on the screen to find it again.

Developer

Oh I feel so bad about the inventory bug. The monkeys before the podcast table don't take the mic. A hint they are probably hungry for something.

Submitted(+1)

quite linear but gets the job done. I like seeing the cool abilities some of the characters have, like being in multiple locations at once, I think it is genius.

Developer

Posted the review of a different game maybe?

Had to restart a couple times due to the missing items bug, but otherwise really enjoyed this!!

Developer

sorry for the bug, but thank you for still restarting and playing! Happy you had fun :D
