I do like the vibes of this game a lot, however the controls would be difficult for even someone like Einstein to understand. You could've literally just used WASD to move forward left down right (on the plane parallel to the ship), and used another two keys to adjust the vertical height (i.e. how far up or down your ship is).

You can do exactly that by enabling the simple controls in the settings. First tutorial also tells you that this exists

Then why isn't it enabled by default?

Do you honestly think people play games to read long text tutorials and go into settings menus?

The ship is still very hard to control even with the simplified controls, something just feels off about the physics. I just kinda want to move forward and get to the objective... and it seems like you're punishing players with this unorthodox and befuddling control scheme. The pull of gravity is way too punishing, to the point where moving forward, the most basic of motions in any game, is challenging and painful.

If you reprogramed it to just move forward with WASD and removed these punishing thruster controls, I would probably have a lot more fun with this game. but as it stands now, at least for me, it's unplayable.

Developer

That is very sad to hear that the game is not for you and you're not willing to read the tutorial to understand it. However I won't change the whole identity of it, which includes more difficult controls and some challenging gameplay because of that. It is meant to be a game where you need to get into a little bit and learn the control scheme. But I still thank you for your feedback, some adjustments will definitely happen but not as extreme as your suggestions. That would then be a completely different game 😂

how'd you do that??? are you a wizard??? insane stuff, love it!

funny controls took me a sec to adjust ^^ but after i figured it out it was quite fun.

I usually find inverted controls easier for flying in games but this one was melting my brain for some reason. ^^`

It was very fun though after changing the controls, and controller support was greatly appreciated! Visuals were amazing too, especially for such a short game jam and the audio meshes with it really well.

I am very impressed by this game. It is super polished and looks great!

I had a lot of fun flying around this space station looking for all of the lost monkeys.

Also, I appreciate the addition of the simple controls, as I was struggling to navigate around the level otherwise.

Insane game for a weekend! Very good mechanics and very good visuals!

heckin mad lad of a game!

This was pretty fun. The controls felt intuitive once you inverted them. One thing I would recommend is instead of using the fuel over the course of the whole game use it as a booster or extra flight time. Integrating it into the level design (like a coin pickup in super mario) would make it more approachable/casual.

How you managed to pull off and make such a large environment in the given time is impressive to me. I love the concept of the game. I recommend that the simple mode should be the default mode and the normal controls should be turned into like a hardcore mode instead. Once I turned that setting on it ramped up the fun for me by alot! My other main issue I have is respawning at the start after getting so far into the map is really frustrating. Besides these tow things its a solid game great job!

Insanely cool game, has a professional feel despite being created in such a short amount of time. The world and aesthetic is top notch, and I would genuinely love to see Connor play this one. Actually incredible job :)

Even tho I really suck at this game (even with the simple controls lol) I still had my fun with it :) and I really liked the music and looks of everyting :D

the controls were difficult but i'm historically a very bad gamer lmao T-T </3 the graphics look amazing!!!!! :D and i love that it's a game about rescuing monkes 🥹super impressed you only did all this in 3 days!! :)

Super impressive game, especially in the time it took!

It's definitely difficult, but I think I got the hang of the controls after a bit. However, I think the out of bounds mechanics and being respawned really far away feels really frustrating, especially since it's basically a fetching game.

The arts is really impressive though. The text can sometimes be hard to see on some backgrounds.

The sounds is nice, but nothing too special personally.

Overall this is a well polished entry. Super optimized too, even for web build. Great job!

omg this was so fun to move around even if it was hard to get used to for me (got monkey brain) but was really fun :D

Developer

Thanks! And that's absolutely fine, it's meant to be somewhat difficult to get used to and into it, even though someone could skip this with the simple controls settings 😂

i am just stuborn going hardcore. like a challenge

This was very hard to play. Not very accessible and definitely for people that like a more difficult game.
I do love the cute art of Connor. Looks like there's a big level too.

Developer(+1)

Settings help a lot with that. Inverting the horizontal or vertical axis can definitely help. And for the worst case there's the simpler controls setting that make controlling muuch more easy to play. But yes, it's definitely meant to be a more challenging type of game

I have to say it, this is the kind of game that when I play it I'm angry that I'm not the one who made it, i remember trying a similar concept years ago, but not being able of getting it right.
Also for some reason it reminded my of an old game i used to play as a child named "Enemy Star/Terrafire".Congratulations on such a cool entry, i really enjoyed it

Wow, it's amazing what you did in just 4 days. Love it!!
