The team gave it their all and each did amazing! Proud of all of them!! The writing was outstanding, it had real emotional depth and you really just feel everything in the end. The voice actors each portrayed their roles perfectly, the art was mesmerizing, and the music really pulls you into each scene.
The main villain is phenomenal and loved the lore and backstory for it. Would love to see an expansion and learn more about it.
A brutal story about what happens when devotion is replaced by condemnation, and the devotees become the sacrificial offerings to the very force that once protected them.
Considering the time limit of the project, I was impressed by the quality of the game overall! The backgrounds, voice acting, sound effects, and music blend together to make for an immersive story perfect for any dark and chilly night.
The story is tragic with a poignant tone that goes with it. The scare moment was pretty great as well, with the monsters being obscured most of the time, though I do wish the action scenes are drawn out instead of just written.
On the other hand, the story itself is linear and follows the horror story structure pretty tight. I kinda wish it can have some small choices scattered around to make it more engaging as well as having Kate being more present in the story. Lorewise it's enough to piece together a backstory of the thing and the place, though some details (I guess) could maybe expanded upon (like the final house scene). The monster lore is revealed quite early I think, which undercuts the suspense a little bit, but it does allow the character certain knowledge to decide her later actions (though her choices are always situationally very limited). Some parts feel a bit too long (visiting all the houses for example) while some other parts feel a bit rushed, maybe a little edit here and there can keep the pacing more clean.
Mint here!
The writing takes you place emotionally you may not have been and hits hard. The art is beautiful, the writing is fire and the VA's hit the roles on the head! There's a beautiful message about acknowledging and breaking generational trauma, monsters not always being made on purpose, and so much more to take away from it, along with characters you can feel for and absolutely rooting for the protagonist to survive and justice for the Loup Garou. It was an honor to work on this, and I look forward to the future games Kiki and Onion make!
You made me cry!
"I always thought monster weren't born. They're made, and not always on purpose."
Such an amazing message. I was completely enthralled by the story, such beautiful writing.
The voice actors did such a great job at bringing it to live. The music perfectly sets the mood.
Thank you for making this game!
I haven't finished yet but I think it's great so far, you really got a lot written! Lots of backgrounds made too.
I found the moral of the story/message very poignant. Something so absurdly striking about forgiveness in spite of truly horrific pain personally caused. I feel that the narrator acknowledging the harm and trauma during the whole forgiveness speech made it hit all the more harder. It can be tough, so impossibly tough, to break the cycle. Sam's VA CRUSHED it during the crying moments. Sure, there were moments when the dialogue got a little repetitive in a somewhat corny "this isnt you!" type of way, but only a little. I might be reading too much into it but I enjoyed the choice of keeping the werewolf obscured and never fully showing them until the very end when they are truly understood. Art was just very high quality in general tbh, especially the blood. Environments too. I found the writing of the emotional process and trauma and just the. Visceral nature of how so many scene were written to be really impressive
This one's super cool, one of the few submissions with voice actors! :0
I'm REALLY really liking the painting-like style of the CGs, it's really cool! :D
The linear story is a bit of a breath of fresh air after so many convoluted and complicated submissions, kudos to that!
AN ERROR I FOUND THOUGH: I tried to open the gallery, but clicking on it just instantly crashes the game 😭
I tried it twice, and it happened both times, it coooould be an error with my PC though, how knows?
Anyways though, the voice actors CRUSHED IT, could maybe use a bit more music, but since there's VA's it would've probably clashed, also I like the ambience, the cursor is a nice touch, too!
Over-all, the story's not my cup a' tea, but it's really good at what its trying to be! An incredible job! :D
Have a good day m8, the judges are absolutely going to love this, and I would not be surprised if it wins the jam. >:]
(Also I can't wait to watch you play my game on Twitch ^^)
There's so much art, it's really impressive! The varied visuals really sell the atmospheric horror alongside the sound design. And every character is fully voiced, which must've been a lot of work for such a big game. Great stuff.
