How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
Being unlucky is never fun, so I tried to reward the player for bad luck. You don't level up by beating enemies, but by finding empty chests, getting hurt and breaking your weapon. Can you bring back the stolen wish bone?

Im not sure how much of the game there is. First playthrough went to black screen and second playthrough went to side scrolling level with only a snake but I wasnt able to progress to another screen.

Developer

It's crashing in combat? That's weird. There are some more screens: you can jump in the well and find secrets, three types of enemies and a non working boss. The game only came together in the last few hours, so missing a bunch of content. Like you can equip stuff, but the chest seem to not return the correct loot...

I hope to add more. Thanks for checking out the game and reaching out. Much appreciated 馃憤

he game reminds me of Zelda 2, only much better — great work!

This game reminds me of the Final Fantasy series, especially the older releases. The throne room brings me back to Final Fantasy 1 on NES ahaha

About the combat system, it鈥檚 interesting to see how it might combine platformer & hack n slash together

What I like the most is both the soundtrack & the character design in general

I love the vibe of this game, I would be so happy to see a completed version of it. The art is cute, the music is nice, and the concept feels fresh. I had actually been thinking of making an rpg with platformer combat a couple of weeks before this jam, so this was a nice surprise haha

That was neat! The premise of gaining experience by having bad things happen is compelling. The art is cute, and the song is nice. I figured out how to get to the final boss, though I suspect there would've been more obstacles in my way in later iterations.

Good work! Congratulations on the submission!

The game was supposed to be more of a tribute to Gargoyles Quest, with a platforming section in the caves. Also the caves were gonna be dark, so you'd have to find a torch too. It was only after I ran out of time coding, that I figured out how much of the game depended on more level design :')

Thank you for sticking with my messy prototype and beating the boss!

I really like the pixel art and I get the idea you had going on with the game. Run into a couple of bugs but still nice entry.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing! Spend most time on the pixel art while still thinking of a good core mechanic. Managed to squash a few bugs, so those will be posted after the jam :)

Dope I will have to comeback and play it again after the jam

There is definite potential  here, even if you didn't get all you planned into the game in time. Graphics are cute, and the characters feel really charming. Keep it up!

The game feels okay, I got a few bugs in some runs, but apart from that, feels cool and would like to see it polished a little.

Developer

Yeah I didn't scope well for the time I had available. Changed the core mechanic on the last day, big no no's for game jams :)

Thank you for playing!
