This is brilliant :)

I've only done the first level, it took me a while :) Will be back for more later, great job!

Congrats ! even though the ratings shock me a lot about many games , and  I was expecting to be in first 100 in the theme but I am 700 lol, this was my first game jam and  kinda disappointed that so many games didn't get views or the right rank for them.

This game is definitely deserving of #1 of creativity. Most of these jam games just do the "dead body on button to open door." I'm glad this is something different with that style. I guess I'm not really a fan of puzzles that require a bit of skill though, cuz i actually solved one, but because of a minor mistake, i died and had to do it all over again. Over all this game is great!

I hope you get the reward the hosts were talking about in the Overview tab, that being if they do it. And I also hope Jack plays your game <3

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I tried to avoid segments which required too much skill to get through since its a puzzle game. Was this the last bit of level 8 where it happened?

Submitted

umm, it probably was, i remember being close. I think it was the one with the saw on the ceiling and a spike pit.

Developer(+1)

Alright, yeah, level 8 is the only one with a saw on the ceiling. You might have had trouble finding it since I actually changed level 8 in an update to not require the super precise timing, which was done after your initial comment.

Gosh, how have I missed that one for the entire duration of the jam ? This is incredible.

Best utilization of that "corpses as a platform" idea. Love how varied your characters are and simulating the movement the player took before dying just take it the extra mile to place it well above the rest.

Completely deserved first place, great job

This is #1?? on 3 categories??

it's not adding up for me either. But oh well. Jam ratings aren't that important in the end anyway. Hollow Knight placed 126th when it was first released as a jam game.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, I was SUPER surprised when I seen the results, I actually thought there was something wrong with how the page loaded or something.. And yes! Jam ratings are not everything at all! Someone on the jam's discord said once your in the top 100 or so, there is very much an element of luck with just not getting review bombed for example, which I completely agreed with. No hate to either of your opinions!

I wanted to add my thoughts as someone who loved the game, rated it highly and tried to promote it. I want to share my detailed thoughts and ask for yours (respectfully).
I've seen you call this a "die/respawn basic unoriginal platformer" and I disagree. While some games were for sure just "die, respawn try again until you get it", there were others that put a spin on that - you need to die a certain way to enable yourself. And depending on how that was integrated I see that as a very good take on the THEME at the very least. This game in particular is not just a die die again until you get it. You NEED to die to solve the puzzles. And its not just walk in a line see a pile of spikes die so u make a platform so that next time you can use that to not die. There's so much more depth to the mechanics than that and I for one think that the CREATIVITY of not just the main mechanic but each and every level absolutely deserves a high rating. Have there been other games that have had a similar mechanic in the past? Sure. But does this make it any less creative? In my eyes - absolutely not! Making something your own is at the core of creativity. We are at a point in time where its pretty damn hard to make something truly new and not derivative of anything existing already. So for me the implementation and design of each level was unique and well thought out. I had a really good time playing every level and feeling proud that I figured out the solutions. And that is really important in making a good puzzle game - having the right level of difficulty that is not impossible but still challenging and rewarding for the player when they get there. So yeah dude I enjoyed the game a lot and I think it absolutely deserves its high ratings.
And I need to talk about the visuals too. Keep in mind the SOLO DEVELOPER AND TIME LIMIT. The art is cute imo and there's even ANIMATIONS (on not just the characters but environment too!) and PARTICLES. I for one am not expecting every game to have traditionally 'pretty' drawings. But the attention to visual details is huge in my book.
And yes the entire rating system is not great and leaves a lot to be desired. I personally operated under a 'I want as many people playing my game' policy not because I think more ratings = better ranking (it clearly doesn't), but because the idea of people playing and enjoying my game feels good. And towards the second half I was asking for feedback/thoughts how others would have tackled out concept. My later comments on other games I also shifted towards trying to give feedback and thoughts rather than just what parts I liked. It would've been nice if instead of a fully open everyone can choose to rate anyone deal we had a system where each individual was given a small pool of games to rate. But alas this isn't issue free either so 🤷‍♀️. And yes. sure. if there's less ratings but they are nicer then you would beat someone with more ratings which vary more. But what can we really do? every system is likely to have some flaw and someone complaining that its unfair in some way (and they might be right).
At the end of the day its a friendly jam. I have no prior experience so I don't know what the norm is but I'm expecting that we're all just here to learn and have fun. Its not that deep in my brain.
I hope this all makes sense.

That last puzzle REALLY made me think. The others I caught on to after a few minutes, but wow, that last one was a doozy. Really had to wrap my head around visualizing every character's movement at the same time for the final move to figure out when I needed everyone to be where. And what a nice use of the theme! Great job overall. It was a lot of fun!

this is a really cool game, very unique! took me a second to realize my movements where playing back and allowing me to make a path to cross the level. very very cool! great job! i like this alot.

I got as far as the 8th puzzle before my brain tapped out in exhaustion. Amazing puzzles across the board and an excellent implementation of the jam theme!

Man, this one is really excellent, but wow is it tricky, I'll admit, I could not beat stage 7 and 9 lol. But every puzzle was extremely cool! The sprite work for the environment and characters was very nice too! But by far the coolest thing was the different character's unique abilities and interactions, while I've seen many games with the mechanic of leaving a body when dying this really separates itself from the rest , I don't want to spoil anything in case someone reads this before playing but just wow some of the things you can do! These puzzles are really something else! Fantastic work, this really slaps, one of the best puzzle games I've seen, even outside of jams!

This one hit the mark on so many levels. Most impressive is the puzzle mechanic, which is like if Lost Vikings and Braid had a lovechild. The art style is also pretty and I appreciate the coherent colours. Great stuff!

Wow, best level design EVER, out of every game I played you had the BEST levels to teach the mechanics of the game, I only wish there was music, but OVERALL this whole game was AMAZING! it reminds of the supermeat boy end when you beat the game and see all your past selves, AMAZING! 5/5 EVERYTHING

I really wanted to compose a track for it, but I only had an hour left by the time I had completed everything I wanted to be in.. I probably could have made something if I had gone for it since an extra hour was given, but obviously that wasnt disclosed beforehand (and it was also added for people to get through any issues they had uploading anyway!). And thanks so much!

Was stuck on level I think 4 or 5? Nothing to do with the game, I'm just not smart enough to figure it out... I've seen a lot of this 2d platformer puzzle games but this one is very creative! really makes you think about what you're going to have to do before you do it! Loved this!

Developer

Yeah, level 5 is where I started to make the puzzles a bit more in depth, since most of the main mechanics had been properly introduced! And thanks!

LOVED the character design and everyone's special ability for certain things, got a bit confused at first going "TOO MANY ME'S" but when i got the gang of it i did great. lovely game and amazing visuals
