Voiceacting makes such a difference to a small game! Game was enjoyable but at points above my skill level, definitely a challenge, but not in a bad way. Would have liked a music slider in the options, but thats probably my biggest complaint
Hey OciaMike! Now that the jam has concluded, I'm going to work on implementing that for the definitive edition of the game! (Major update) - Vin
Decent game, A lot of levels could be improved, and the effects need more explanation, and controls could be made to be less slippery, but overall a 4/5 everything!
I like the concept of this as well as the art and the music. Unfortunately, something about the control scheme just didn't click with me, and I couldn't get past the third level due to trouble with the inputs. The vertical dash was a bit finicky, sometimes it would use my dash but I wouldn't ascend at all, or I'd only ascend a few pixels. One time I had two dashes and somehow it used both of them to do two vertical dashes in a row. I also had trouble with the timing on the respawn, maybe allowing the player to hang in the air a bit before doing a respawn jump could help, because I just instantly plummeted and lost my opportunity to jump.
The funny thing is, I was actually aware of these bugs, but we just didn't have enough time to fix 'em before we had to submit, I might be able to push out a patch when the jam is over though. - Vin
as is tradition, monarch continues to be abso-fucking-lutely horrendously bad at puzzle platformers, I BET if it wasn't me they wouldn't have struggled so much in the game like I did
peak voice acting and peak music, actual fire
p.s i got stuck in the third stage, apparently i could vertical dash (???) but I have no idea how, i tried arrow + shift and it didn't work :sob:
i'm so sorry for being incompetent chat
Sorry about that vertical dash thing, arrow keys are a bit broken so you can only do W+Shift for vertical dash. I'm glad you liked the game though! - Madelinux
Fun game! The art is cute and the dash mechanic feels really good. Simple but super enjoyable.
If you have a moment, I’d love if you could check out mine too!

Awesome puzzle game, wall jump was a bit confusing, but i managed it. Narration is a great, love when games do that
The puzzles were great! Loved how each item worked ..I did feel a bit lost at times, like it took me a long time to figure out you can do respawn jump..maybe an in-game tutorial would help instead of only mentioning it in the web page. But that aside , the puzzles were really well made & yeah the theme was spot on..Great work!! and all the best
Very cool. Puzzles felt very well thought out and the narration was a nice touch
Loved the narration, I struggled a bit, largely due to being awful at platformers, but i liked the idea of gathering abilities through dying as a means of getting through purgatory. Very cool.
This is a very good game!
The narration is funny and well spoken.
The music is a banger.
The pixel art looks amazing.
The story is very funny.
The puzzles are a nice challenge.
(and I totally did not find a double jump glitch...)
anyway, very well made! :D
This was one of my favorite games of the jam what a great job!!! I’d love if you could check out and rate my game as well!!!
Hey! Vin from FPG here, happy to hear you enjoy the game so much, considering how rushed it is! I'll surely check out yours too!
This seemed like an interesting concept! I sadly couldn't get past the second level though. And it also seemed to run slow at times and faster at others.
Hey! Vin from the team here, and I'll give you a hint which can apply to most levels, Power-ups persist after death! As for running slow, I never really had the opportunity to test it on slower hardware, and the fact that so much stuff was being updated per frame doesn't help, but that's just game jam coding!
I genuinely enjoyed this ! has a lot of personality, and its challenging enough to keep me interested ! good stuff ! wishing you the best < 3
i like the game concept and narration a lot!! i personally couldnt get past the second level but i know that's 100% user error. i'd suggest if you continue to work on this to have the narrator chime back in to give tips when needed!! i agree with another comment suggesting having a play tester or two check it out before hand. but for four days, this is really great.
not the dev, but I initially struggled with this level too! turns out if you grab the wall jump and die without using it, you get two the second time around
OOOHHH THATS SO GOOD TO KNOW, THANK YOU!!
This is so cool! Such a fun twist on a platformer. The music is awesome, and the narration is quite entertaining. I agree with what some of the other comments said that the movement feels a tiny bit slippery, but that mostly just took some getting used to. I loved finding very correct, definitely-intended ways to complete the levels. Great job!
Very fun voice acting, it was very entertaining! Puzzles were a bit tough or clunky but I see the vision. I recommend getting people to test out your game if you can, even just one or two people, before you release it to the jam. Helps iron out some of the rougher edges. Well done though!
Hey, Vin from the team here, we didn't have much time before the deadline to have a thorough playtest session, we did have testers, but it was just that both Islender and I were having a hard time keeping up with how fast things were going in other departments. Platformers do not mix well with deadlines I suppose!
Completely valid, game jams are always a rush! You've done a good job with the time you had, and there's definitely potential in it!
I really enjoyed this, interesting take on a platformer puzzle game, reminded me of celeste. The narration gave it a funny twist reminding me of getting over it with Bennet Foddy. I felt the character could do with feeling less slippery, felt like I was platforming on ice at times, also, took me way too long to realise I could jump up / diagonally XD but once I worked it out it was interesting as a lot of platformers don't give you that level of freedom of controls, great job for a 5 day gamejam! Nice music too!
A lovely game, i was never a platform enjoyer but i was hooked on this one, and the end WITH THE VOICE ACTING I LOOOOOVE IT
This was a great take on the theme and I loved the movement of the dashes on this, as well as the music and voice acting! I think some more description on the dashes being vertical and diagonal in the tutorial would help people understand faster, but other than that it was a fun experience!
Loved this, the voice lines are funny XD. I did get stuck on the third puzzle but overall I loved it :)
Hey! Happy to hear you enjoy the game! I do admit we should've spent less time procrastinating and more time playtesting, but oh well! - Vin
