Probably going to be the last game I play for the jam! I really liked the narrative here and the art/writing were both really effective at keeping me engrossed in the game! Fantastic work. I'm hoping for more down the line! There is a certain energy between Akira and Sera, and I am HERE for it. I can't really suggest anything that hasn't already been put forward, so I'll just say thanks for making it!
wow wow wow! that was really cool! I usually don't play VNs but the art was very good for the limited time. Though the story felt almost like a culmination of a bunch of other stories, it was very well done. It felt very cohesive and had me waiting for what was next. Super well done and very impressive for a game jam. The writing, the art, the sound design, all got me immersed in this world and asking questions. I would love to have seen more options for the player to select dialogue towards the beginning of the game. I liked the idea of almost responding how I would. Even though it might not change the story or be to different, I believe it really helped me as the player feel more immersed, as if I was talking to the characters through Akira. I'd love to get to know the characters and world more and really feel the burn of the ending (no spoilers :) but with the time given, it is impressive that you were able to get what you did done. To nit pick a little, some of the dialogue felt just a lliiitttllle to unnatural but not so much that I was taken out of the game. Some minor rewording or different phrasing would do the trick. Super enjoyable. Look forward to seeing more!
I loved the story/lore and the character designs! I would have loved more moments to make choices, but considering this was made in 5 or less days, that's totally okay lol Finally, some proofreading to polish the text would have been the cherry on top, but otherwise this was good!
This is an amazing VN. The art is incredible and the story is captivating. Now I want to know more. It would have been nice to see all the possible endings with different poisons, but their absence is understandable and does not diminish the story.
Also it's cool to see red girls with scythes and potential yuri from other people. Great minds think alike :D
Thank you so much for the kind words<3 !
this is an impressive amount of art for the time we got! the story seems to be pretty complex, it could use a bit more explanation of what exactly is going on near the beginning to help set the stage for the characters to shine on. Would like some more interaction on the player side. I would be interested in seeing what you do with this going forward if you keep working on it!
GG
My pen was on fire after rendering everybody xD Thank you so much for playing and reviewing!<3
i love doomed yuri!!
jokes aside, this is such a great VN. I get sleepy reading VNs especially if the story is too convoluted, but I was super invested the entire time. I would love a longer version of this, maybe padding out the time the group works together so as to make the (spoilers) betrayal feel more impactful and sad. Plus, as others have requested, more choices to be made. It is a little sad that the ending is bittersweet and open ended, but it makes sense for a jam! It's clear there was a lot of love put into the artwork and writing. Big respect!
Thank you so much <3! Hopefully the story continues some day.
I hope so too! congrats on the rating on visuals, very deserved!
INCREDIBLE story! The characters, world, and visuals kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time ^-^
That's so nice to hear<3 Much love from the dev team!
This was seriously cool and badass, the story is very unique for the jam, and I really am a huge fan of captivating stories, the characters were fun and the twist was pretty damn cool, I only wander what happens with with Akira and co. (p.s. screw Sera) JK :P, this was an amazing title, great job!
Haha, Sera is a sneaky one :D Thank you again for playing!
Hello! Thank you for allowing me to play your game on stream!! I absolutely adored the art and the impact it had during cutscenes and the story. I have to agree with a few of the comments below where I wished there would be more branching paths and choices to make (i.e the poisons) but I can understand time constraints prevented so. That being said it's a solid start for a 5 day jam and I hope to see more of this story (and the three-eyed Akira) someday :)
Thank you so much for playing and rating. It means so much to us <3 !
Bro, the art in this is top notch, seriously beautiful and stunning, especially for such a short jam! I really loved the story too. I just wish there were more choices and branching paths, since it felt like I could’ve done different things, but the game kept me on a more linear route. Totally fair for the time limit, but still. I wanted more!
Still, this was really sick though, amazing work!!
Thank you so much for your time and the good review! <3
Very impressive story and visuals! I would have loved to see some more dialogue choices and consequences of them. Atmosphere was also top notch. Loistavaa työtä koko tiimiltä!
Hopefully Reversed world will evolve and continue in the future. Kiitos ja samoin teille <3
VERY COOL STORY AND VISUALS. I really like games that just throw you into it and let you wonder and explore the rich story. FREAKING LOVED THE ENDING. Lots of cool art! Would love to see this as a full game with a bit more player agency and game mechanics!😄🦒
Thank you so much for your kind words! Love from the whole team <3
Finished playing this game and wanted to collect my thoughts. ...are there more endings than just one? Did I mess up somewhere? Ah, it wasn't signalled properly, and despite how much I adore this VN, the sordid lack of the basic VN functionality of the skip button led me to do another run where I got the `the end...?` screen again.
I do not want to state this to hurt or to beat down on you. Please, please, please. If you're going with Unity, please make sure the things you're doing with it give you more power and convenience than a dedicated, easy option to build VNs like Ren'py or Godot's Dialogic. I sorely missed save/loads and the skip button. These options even allow you to export to web faster than Unity takes to build.
Feel free to correct me if there is indeed a ctrl->skip or a save/load feature. I'm kinda dumb sometimes.
Now the dialogue. The actual way the dialogue is written is fantastic and has absolutely zero complaints from my side. You have managed to effortlessly jump high and over the awkward "I'm writing a serious VN but I have tone issues" dialogue I see very frequently in indie VNs. Great job for that!^^
About the delivery. I really, really understand how hard it is to deliver an exposition and not make it an infodump, and I am glad that the VN tries to take that problem seriously and doesn't infodump, the exposition is bound seamlessly to the introduction, albeit that doesn't mean it's completely flawless. Sometimes I was left wondering what the significance of a few terms even was (which I'm guessing was left out to prevent infodumping) but by reading more I discovered those anyway, so that's fine, and I'm not expecting you to write a new Shiravune title in the span of 4.5 days, ah-hah...
About the story itself. I would call it a lot better than I expected. This was clearly a passion project and made for fun! I'm so happy to see that. I really, really like the idea of the protagonist fighting to free themselves from the agony of a groundhog day loop. There were a few smoking hot Chekhov's guns that never went off (the poisons and the significance of Ilio as a character) ((might just be me?? I could not see more than one ending, is this a skill issue on my end?) and I was a bit disappointed by the underuse of Caze as a character... haah. I really liked the "he's doing everything according to the book!! why can't we beat him?!" gimmick he was supposed to have. Once again, 4.5 days, atrocious time limit, I get it, don't worry.
The art was awesome! How did you get unironic professional grade illustrators to work with you?! That's so cool!! I really liked Drax's and Akira's designs!! I want to be able to draw something that great!! I kneel!
Either way, those are my unorganised thoughts put on screen. I really adored this VN, and I don't mean to hurt you by saying what I didn't like. Trust me when I say I had fun with this VN. Thanks a lot for this game!!
Definitely my favourite VN this jam though. Keep it up, eh?
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review!
The game was originally designed to have at least two endings, but we just ran out of time, sadly ;_;
Our coder saw your great feedback and took note of it! Also, on behalf of the writer and line artist, she sends her thanks <3
As someone who rendered the characters and worked as the art lead for the first time in a game jam, I really appreciate your compliment. Thank you again so much <3
We’re still thinking about whether Reversed Story will continue, but if it does, we’ll be sure to let everyone know!
That's a great story, the art is beautiful, congrats for that, VN isn't my favourite kind of game but I played til the end. Congrats for your game
Thank you so much for checking out our game! <3
It looks pretty and has a great story - everything you need in a good visual novel. You guys have a great setup for a world, hope you will do more with it! :D
Thanks for playing! :)
This was an awesome visual novel! The dedication to creating full color art for a jam like this is so impressive, especially given how many characters there are in this game. I also really like Akira as a character and her story in this short look, and I can definitely see this becoming a full and fleshed out game. Well done!
Thank you so much! <3 I'm sobbing ;_;
As a visual novel novice that dabbles, this has been one of my favorite VNs in a while! it felt concise but not like the story was missing or too short. I loved the world that was built and the drama and character. I sort of wished that you could have different endings by taking different poisons - i was really excited to choose who i would trust and was a lil bummed out when i couldn't. awesome game yall did great! evil for leaving on a cliff hanger
This I very good I don't really play many visual novels but it was good reminded me of hunger games
Thank you so much for checking out our game ! <3
Fantastic art, the characters look so nice and polished!
Thank you so much! ;_;
