It may not be the most complete game in the jam.
It may not be the most beautiful game in the jam.
But it's definitely the funniest, no question about it.

And it made me feel some serious emotions. The “transition” is just pure gaming bliss, with the banger music kicking in, the camera and lights going crazy. I was so into it, it was so cool. It deserves 5/5 and wins this jam.

PS: The game implies that it won't be developed any further, but damn... please... it was so good...

Developer(+1)

Nah, continue developing it would ruin the joke, but thanks for the kind word still!

Submitted(+1)

My day is ruined and my disappointment is immeasurable...

I will eagerly await your next creations, though!

Peak cinema, enjoyed this more than expedition 33. The (spoiler alert) switch between 2D and 3D was just a blast. Each dialogue is written by the hand of god, the sound design is amazing (i love the musics). To be honest, it's been a long time since I laught that much while playing a game. Thanks for this!

Developer(+1)

Damn, thanks for the kind word! Here’s a fun fact: I noticed how Expedition 33 hype up their boss’ second phase really well, and I want to do what they did, except after hyping it up, I ended with “sorry, the boss’ unfinished. Here’s a joke” instead. I consider it a (according to me) really smart way to avoid having to actually make the boss and save a lot of dev time. It’s a win-win!

Oh my goodness, I laughed the whole time I was playing. The graphics remind me of OFF, and the text reminds me of Undertale. When it switched to 3D and combat started, I immediately thought of the Persona series, and then dialogue mentioning the Persona series came up right away, which made me laugh for a while.

I really want to give it high praise for turning its unfinished parts into fun game elements using text and humor!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! I’ve never heard of OFF, just look it up, and yeah, it’s really similar to my game. With how the game turn out, I think leaving it unfinished is actually better lol. Anyway, glad you like it!

Submitted(+1)

The horror of everything being unfinished! Best humor amongst the entries so far, definitely takes the horror theme in a totally different direction. I enjoyed reading the dialogue a lot. Keep it up!

Developer

Really great interpretation of the game lol. It doesn’t even meant to be an horror other than stuff like ghost and pumpkin. Anyway, glad you enjoy it!

The music absolutely slaps, and I loved the switch from 2D to 3D! The writing was also pretty funny. I wish the combat system had been more complex but like... balancing a rpg in a week would have been insane. So instead I'll be looking forward to the update if you finish it :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah, barebones combat because I already pour my time in other aspects, but still, glad you enjoy it!

Submitted(+1)

And it was lampshaded in a pretty funny way with you breaking the fourth wall, so...

Developer(+1)

100% worth it (also, just learned the term “lampshaded” today.)

Submitted(+1)

It was cool, but I wanted more. Great music, unexpected 3D. I was amused by the text) I really liked the game.

Developer

Thank you! A lot of content got cut, but glad you enjoy the rest!

Submitted(+1)

Pretty good rpg game.. I wish there More into this game play than.. Just press button attack enemies.. But I love everything else about it.. Like for example.. I love how beautiful this game is.. Especially when turn 3d.. 2d text and place and character look amazing too.. I love especially the ending.. Where is like not finished.. Just like special button.. Lmao.. Can you also give my game a feedback and also rank at kill or be killed Mario exe game? :).. You don't have to if you don't want to :)

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, the game is pretty simple because I didn't have time for that part. Downloading your game now!

I enjoyed this a lot! Cool presentation, funny (meta) writing and one absolutely slapping soundtrack (listening to it on YouTube right now). My only complaint is that the gameplay felt limited. There weren’t many decisions for the player to make and the ones that were there didn’t matter much

Submitted(+1)

Here's my playthrough of your game! It's at the 8:44 mark of this video.

Developer(+1)

Wow, thank you!

Submitted(+1)

I enjoyed it.
The mixing of 2D and 3D was fun stuff, was a nice surprise.

The writing was cute. Sad about the unfinished bits, although I liked how you wrote it into the game, made it feel more complete even as it was talking about being uncomplete.

Good stuff.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Glad you enjoy it!

I'll tell you exactly what happened: I was playing a retro game and all of a sudden it was a cool 3D game! (I liked how the sudden change surprised me!)

Developer

Thank you! This is exactly the feelings I want the player to get. Glad you like it!

very goofy, very funny uhhh and very cool. I enjoyed it,  I like how you did the 3d battle I'm still learning how to do that stuff and I think the way you did it was really cool. I hope you keep working on it, I would  pay  to get a game like this, because it's of how goofy it is.  Very cool, I'm not gonna lie you gave a  really cool video game idea, a trinity of computers.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I mean, this is my first time doing anything in 3D, and I still didn't touch any stuff related to models yet. Everything you see are either cubes or 2D sprites that cast shadow. Seeing you'd pay for it makes me feel really glad!

Submitted(+1)

Really just amazing. This is so well executed on so many levels. I want more feedback during the combat though! Thanks for sharing your game!

Developer

Thank you! Many people seem to comment about the sound, though, so maybe I might do something with that, if I get to update the game, that is.

Submitted(+1)

Silly and funny. I think the game could've used  voice over. Well done.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Since it’s a solo project, doing voice over might be too much work and not suitable for the characters in the game, otherwise, the Witch will have to speak with male voice lol.

Submitted(+1)

Silly, but pretty fun. I liked the character dynamic among the trio. I do wish the combat had more sound effects, such as selecting the action and hitting the enemy. It would feel a lot more impactful.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I actually already add the sfx, but maybe it doesn't feel juicy enough yet, but thanks for the feedback. I will see what I can do, if I got to update the game, that is.

Submitted(+1)

Awesome cutscenes, I love seeing that in game jams. The transition from 2d to 3d really impressed me. The writing and narrative were also great. It’s hard to make turn based combat, let alone within a jam, so obv that part wasn’t super developed. Regardless, it was still a lot of fun. Awesome work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah, the turn-based combat code is a horror in itself lol.

Submitted(+1)

This is a very cool starting concept, even if it’s unfinished. It’s also one of the more unique gameplay ideas I’ve seen in this game jam. I really like the use of 3D combined with camera transitions during turn-based combat, it definitely gives off a Persona vibe! Big plus on the art, gameplay, sound, and music. It’s great that you managed to pull it off. Nice job!

Developer

Thank you! The unfinished parts are actually cut contents, and I think I enjoy doing it this way than actually implement the mechanics lol.

Submitted(+1)

Not only did I like the sudden switch to 3D during the battle sequence, but I loved the dialogue in the game! I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Excellent jam entry!

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! Glad you enjoy it!

Submitted(+1)

I knew what is coming from the very first notes. And I enjoyed it very much.

Camera sequence is fun too.

It reminds me a jam game I didn’t finish because I didn’t have enough diligence and time. But I did some Persona 5 UI things with very cool animations.

Developer(+1)

Wow, thats a really great UI that you've build! I didn't get to upgrade it to be like in PS5 due to time constrain. Those camera angles takes quite some time to setup.

Submitted(+1)

By the way, if you are interested, I wrote an article about how I made a UI similar to Persona 3 Reload. But it’s for Godot. Maybe you can find something useful: https://ultipuk.xyz/blog/recreation-of-persona-3-reload-ui/

Developer

Thank you! Will check it out if I have time!

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Well that was just really enjoyable, charming is the perfect work to encapsulate what I just played! very short but perfect length for a quick and fun Jam game, my only complaint is that the battle gets really repetitive after like 2 rounds of attacks but the music was so funky it kept me playing and the constant dialogue kept me engaged. Also that transition from old homebrew PC game to 3D Unity game with the intro to the battle was really cool and very unexpected and the music being used as a transition point made for some very fun and cool scenes. Fantastic work!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you! And agreed about the bare bone combat, because I wouldn’t have enough time otherwise.
