10/10, puts your memory to the test. The endings are well made, and the buildings are well made too.

Environment of the game: 10/10
Easy to understand.
Story: Cute and fun, also did not expect the jump scare lol i get scared easily.
Love the game! simple and short, and sweeeeeeet (pun intended)

This was real good fun! I love that snooping around paid off and being a little shit and breaking into random strangers’ house actually saved my life! I loved the simplicity of the mechanics and I thought it was quite straightforward to figure out who was the killer haha!

It’s giving scooby doo villains in the best way possible. I enjoyed this very much, nice work ^^

I liked how there were little scares and things to unnerve you around the cul-de-sac and the memory/deduction element was interesting. I was able to remember who gave me what, but I was like trying to reverse psychology the quotes lol and ended up dying. I considered playing again for a better ending but felt that walking around to each house again was somewhat tedious. Some kind of environment change or something else to keep subsequent playthroughs quick/fresh could go a long way. That said, great job on the atmosphere and unique gameplay.

Fantastic! played it 3 times

Well, I didn't die, but my mom did :( I'll have to try again later. Loved the memory game/deduction aspect, very creative!

The game is good. I first realized that i would need to eat the right candy later, but i couldn't decide which one gave me the normal candy and which one gave me the poisonous one. Plus, i couldn't remember which candy was whose. The game has a good story and good gameplay. Nice entry!

Here's my playthrough of your game. I tried to show as much stuff from the game as possible, including the different quotes from the people who give the player candy and the bad and the good endings of the game.

I genuinely recon this is the most fun game I've played in this game so far, the gameplay at first seems pretty simplet until it becomes a game of memory at the end this was fun to play it wasn't really scary from what I played but I did get jump scared by that skeleton that came out of the window. also this fits Halloween so well for a game jam that goes throughout October for the spooky season this game fits it perfectly I love the vibes you made probably the best game in the jam that I've played unless someone makes a Halloween themed game that's genuinely scary. also I don't know how many people worked on this but still its great.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words! Only two people worked on this. One artist and one programmer. We both worked on the game design. I'm so happy you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing!

Thats even more crazy since most people in this jam are in way bigger groups and aren't up to this quality

I really like the gameplay of this one. It's good to have some horror game that has an original gameplay! My only thing I would say is that it's kinda long to replay everything. Also, I had the bad ending on my second run, but I don't really know if I got any bad candy? It's a little unclear if I manage to do well the things or not. But overall the game is super cool, and the art is amazing! Glad you had so much videos!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I plan to add a retry button to the game over screen so you go straight back to the car to try again. I think that will help with the frustration a bit. I will get it added as soon as the jam voting period is over! The way you can tell if you have bad candy is to pay close attention to what the people say. If anything doesn't sound friendly, it's most likely a bad candy. However, I see how it's difficult to tell from dialogue alone especially with a Halloween theme mixed in. To be 100% sure, you can find the poison bottle in their yard to know the candy is bad. You get the good ending if you avoid eating bad candy in the car and collected all poison bottles. You get the bad ending if you avoid eating bad candy but do not collect all 3 poison bottles. Hope that clears things up for you! I'll try to make this more clear in the game when I can update it. Thank you so much for playing!

What a twist!! I really like this candy concept, it's tempting to do trick or treat but there's a lot and usually it falls into a whimsical feeling. This was NOT that, very spooky!  There was a looming sense of dread. Especially with the gorgeous sky! Nice art direction, the environment/ "neighborhood block" felt both isolating and part of a larger world. The different 'character' to each house and the Halloween decor emulated real life. The only thing missing is the hordes of children - but I noticed in recent years trick or treating seems to have died down. Being the only kid on the block in this game adds to the creepy atmosphere. I LOVE the style chosen, perfect balance of low/mid poly with good texturing. Only complaint is the movement seemed to 'drift' sometimes but that could be from webgl port, reminds me of when my controller is low battery and starts acting up randomly. amazing job having multiple endings, kept playing until I managed. Edit: Animation was nice, liked smoking mom.

Developer

Thank you for the detailed feedback! I had one other person have issues with the character controller as well. Something weird is happening in the Web GL port for sure. I'll have to solve that. Thank you so much for playing! Glad you enjoyed it even with the drifting issue.

Wow, what an experience. The story was awesome, the animations were great, and the endings were spooky. I had to play the game five times to try and get the good ending. The first two endings I died because I ate a candy from the female spirit; third I ate a candy from the witch; fourth I ate the good candies but didn't find any poison bottles. And fifth was the good ending where I found all of the poison bottles and ate the good candies. You really have to pay attention to what the people are saying to you and the colors of the candies, or you're going to end up with a bad ending.

Finding one of the poison bottles behind a locked door was annoying IMO, as I had to move one of the objects to find a key. However, I did like how you get to read multiple newspapers showing a tragic event that occurred on Halloween. Excellent job on your game, you guys! I'll make a playthrough video of your game and show all of the endings I got in my playthrough.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I think I for sure I might have hid some of the poison bottles a little too well. I'm glad it still kept your attention long enough to get all endings with multiple playthroughs. Thank you so much for playing!

This was great. I loved the endings here and I had to play through the game twice to make sure I saw both a good and bad ending. Nice animation, nice concept, and really well executed here. My only nitpick is really that one of the trees in the backyard was missing its collision shape. Thanks for making and sharing your game!

Developer

Thank you so much! Glad it entertained you enough to play through it twice. I am the worst with missing colliders haha. Really nice find! I will be sure to fix it post jam.

Very cool, the skeletons in front of one of the houses, I thought those would jumpscare me so I looked down, when I went past, another skeleton from the window jumpscared me instead, my life flashed before my eyes. Very interesting game, found all the poison bottles, except I died because I thought dying was an ending, so I only found one ending which is the bad one, made me laugh for some reason when the mom started shaking on the floor, don't ask me why.

Developer

I'm glad you got a proper spook during the Scream Jam! Thanks for playing!

Rather well executed concise detective game! I've been invested for the little time it lasted. Also nice twist at the end!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the twist. I've been really looking forward to playing your game. Will get to it soon!

I truly love the art style of this game. Really good job!!!

Thank you!

Sad ending :(. Great idea for a game though! Well done!

Developer(+1)

If you find all three poison bottles at the bad houses, you get the good ending! Thanks for playing!

Nothing creepier than suburban stranger danger! Great work :)

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Glad you found it creepy!
