I really liked this concept, and it was quite fun! Reminded me of OG doom if it was a roguelike. The cradle in the sky was also really cool, added a lot of character and was nicely creepy. I do think the VCR effect was a little too strong, especially in the night sections, and I think that the platforming area was a little annoying, as it was pretty easy to fall off and lose all your progress, especially if it switches to night while there. Besides that, I still enjoyed it a lot!

Yo, this is fantastic. Great aesthetic, gameplay, and ambiance. I especially liked the dichotomy between the day/night and trying to grab exp then get in a good position before it became night again. Partway through my secondary attack stopped spawning projectiles and at the very beginning it took a hot minute to figure out what was going (I was normally jumping between platforms when it became dark). But overall, loved it!

After some initial struggle (I died so many times jumping on the platforms, or rather, not jumping, but this is a skill issue), I got to enjoy some good old boomer-shooter (I think that is what you call these types of games, but you get my point). And fun it was, just gunning and running through and away from enemies, getting to upgrade your stuff, it was good old fun. And the whole vibe was even more fun, environment and art design really worked great here. Like said, just good old fun. Great work.

Amazing sound design. Maybe the best sound effects and ambient track I've heard in a submission. The newtons cradle looming over the arena space and signifying round switches was a masterstroke. It added tons of style and visual intrigue to the environment. This should definitely be made into a complete game.

I really liked the game, it has an interesting concept. I love the visuals, everything is top-notch. But it was a bit difficult for me. I think killing enemies should give player a corresponding amount of XP.

Good submission.

fun game! the aesthetics had a lot of that retro goodness & the skeletons were very cute ❤️i like the gameplay loop, feels very replayable. i do wish the initial signposting on what you were supposed to do was a bit clearer (thought the hp item in the middle was an objective) but when you figure out the whole pendulum thing it all clicks into place nicely. also could put controls somewhere in main menu or beginning of game instead of just on the itch page.

great job!!

Thank you so much for the review and very good feedback :) Yeah, I think some kind of ingame tutorial would be really helpful. Have to add that post-jam!

Really fun!  I love that the 2 phases are timed by a giant Newton's Cradle, I just wish it was more in the view of the player.  I like that risk/reward aspect of the healing item, but I would have stopped at the zone disappearing during the active gameplay, because dying from platforming feels bad, but I understand the decision behind it.  Overall, great gameplay and great visuals!

Great loop! I had fun doing a couple of runs here and I found that the secondary fire was relatively OP when compared to the primary one. It took entirely too long to realize that I could look up to see when a round was starting/ending and that led to some accidental drops into that hole in the middle... oops. Nice visuals here too!

Love the overgrowth monster mobs! it's very satisfied to kill a monster and power up the character. But of course, I died to a hole....

This is nice, I love old school shooters...but this one has magic!!! My nit pick would be that it's a bit hard to see when it gets dark but I guess it's part of the vibe...

this was really good i enjoyed it a lot I would say the time between the waves is the only thing that was kind of weird if there was a way to let the player decide when the wave comes would be great like you could make them hit something on the top to start it so they can go get the orb in the middle on their time and not die when the timer runs out. other than that I would say this is very fun and well made good job

Fun gameplay loop. Great risk and reward mechanic with the health orb in the middle where you have to do some parkour. Excellent work on the art and animation, very polished. I did notice a few things that could be improved:

- The down time between waves is good for down time. However, it would be great if you could add a way to instantly start the next wave. After replaying a few times, the break really starts to hinder the flow of the pacing when you'd want to go go go.

-  I think there may be value in buffing the primary fire. I felt like the burst one is far superior even for the flying enemies so there's no reason to ever use the primary.

Thank you so much for your feedback :) I also totally agree - when I play the most current build, I also realize that the primary attack is underpowered and there are times when the breaks are too long and there’s nothing to do. I’ll hopefully be able to tackle those issues in an updated version later on! Thanks again :)

I got a score of 60,464! don't know if that's good or not lol. I died cause I fell 🥲 Fun game though really liked the glowing of the book indicating the cool down its like a good version of diegetic UI. I dig the vibes and the giant newtons cradle was a cool way to show when the next round would start. Great submission!

This game was very fun (until I died in a dumb way), I was gonna try to push it a bit more and do some crazy build of something, could have been fun. I got to level 10 and I was about to collect the red thing in the middle of the map, which is quite hard to get since there is no cayote time in the game and its easy to fall down, and then the wave started and the platforms dissapeered. Felt unfair and stupid :/

If you press too fast, when you are collecting thoes floating blue points, you can accidently pickup a levelup that you did not want to, maybe making them at the top of the screen or something, cause I choose the middle levelup like 3 times cause I was clicking too fast.

Also the enemies would sometimes spawn right behind me and Id just get hit like 5 times in a row out of nowhere, it's quite hard to shoot while still checking if anything spawned behind you, even when the wave became gigantic, I did not feel under threat cause the enemies are so slow, so it just became a gigantic colony of enemies slowly going after me while I shoot back.

I really like the grahpics, reminds me of eclipsium.

Thank you for the review and great feedback :) Eclipsium was actually a reference for me - though I haven’t played it yet.

Very cool project! It was a bit hard to see what was going on, and it took me a bit to find out that the enemies would spawn after a bit of time had passed. Aside from that the game ran very smooth with a lot of enemies and offered a pretty unique challenge!

Going to go try making it past wave 3 / level 7 >:)

Developer

Thank you for playing it and the feedback! 😊 I will also give your game a try!
