The graphics look great, I like the retro style very much. Some sounds would make this game even better but for only 15 hours in development time this is incredible. Good job!

Developer

Thanks! I've already added sounds in the unreleased version and will definitely put out the update after judging.

Art style and visuals receive a 5 out of 5. I really appreciate this retro Game Boy style. However, the audio and sound design are the weakest parts. I'm genuinely shocked that you completed this bug project in only 15 hours. If you finish this project after the game jam, I would like to replay it one more time. I have added this game to my collection!

Developer

Thank you for such kind words! I'm very flattered!

I definitely intend to continue working on this after the jam is over. I've had a lot of fun working on it and sound is high on the priority list to add to the game.

The game's concept is really interesting and creative. I liked how we control both the ghost and the humans, although I found it a bit confusing at first.

The controls are easy and responsive; I didn’t have any issues with them. Despite being simple, they manage to add an interesting variety to the gameplay, as the puzzles are designed in a way that the progression feels constant, and there’s no sense of stagnation.

I did experience some collision issues at certain points in the game, mainly when trying to pass through the orange walls. I know there’s the pumpkin mechanic where the ghost or human can’t move depending on whether the pumpkin is activated or not, so I can safely say these were just some small bugs haha, as they happened when one of the characters was supposed to move but simply wouldn’t. However, this didn’t really affect the gameplay overall.

Ambient sounds or even background music would have really helped create a more immersive atmosphere, which is a shame that’s missing. However, I understand, given that the time we had to make our games was pretty short.

Great puzzle game, no doubt it was fun and interesting. I think I reached the end—my ghost disappeared, and I couldn’t do anything else. Was that the actual ending, or did something go wrong? I have no idea.

Either way, great work! I wish you success and good luck with the jam!

Developer

Yes, that was the end. Didn't build as many levels as intended. More content and sound are top priority after the jam. Thanks for the detailed feedback!

Really cool artwork and sprites. I really like puzzle platformers but the controls felt a little janky and unintuitive sometimes. I felt like I was breaking the game unintentionally with some of the stuff I was pulling off. If the controls were polished and the game explained a little better this would be a great game.

Developer

Common pain points, it seems. Thanks for playing!

Really cool idea and some nice puzzles, it would be a little less confusing to be able to see the barriers but other than that nice game :D

Developer

Thanks so much!

The game was quite good. I think it would have benefited a TON from some kind of tutorial, because in the first few minutes i just stood there confused, lol. also, some of the white guys ai's were... really weird? like sometimes they just lagged in place or moved in ways that are really weird. that didn't spoil the experience too much, though. I thought it was a cute lil game. Definitely should have had more levels, and some of the levels here are kinda way too easy, but for 15 hours, it's good.

Good game. Keep it up.

A fun little puzzle game! I like the art style and animations of the ghost, but I really missed sounds! The theme is also cleverly implemented. My only complaint would be that the game really needs a short little introduction/tutorial at the start. But all in all, this was a nice game!

Developer

Thanks for the kind words!

Funny little puzzle game, but its rly need some sfx and vfx for barrier.
But anyway i have fun ^_^

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed!

I really like the idea of possessing a human to progress through the levels. It’s such a clever concept and fits the Uninvited Guests theme perfectly. You literally are the uninvited one, which is a great twist.

The game is missing sound effects and music, and that absence really stands out. Even a few simple ambient sounds or a subtle background track would add a lot to the atmosphere. At the start, I was a bit confused about what to do, and the controls didn’t always seem to respond. I even skipped a level accidentally while holding “D” as the next one loaded...no idea what happened there! Also the humans seem to sometimes move very strange paths once they were possessed which freaked me out at times xD

That said, the puzzles themselves are well designed, and the cute, Halloween-style art gives the game a lot of charm. It’s very enjoyable, and the core idea has plenty of potential. Overall, a nice entry given the limited time with a strong theme and a fun, spooky vibe.

Thanks for playing! Very helpful feedback.

it took me some time to get into and fully understand the mechaanics , but after that I really injoy it !!

the character swapping mechanic was cool and the puzzles were fun

I think some sfx and music would bring some more life into the game , also showing the physical barrier that prevent the player from walking throw the pumpkins ( and make it change it's colors depending on the current character   ) would help explaining the game mechanics

over all great submission

Developer

Thanks for the kind words and suggestions!

Listen, this is, by far, the best game I've seen in this game jam in terms of gameplay!!! The puzzles are mind-blowing! And you also have an interesting mechanic – possessing a person as a ghost, which is implemented in the form of puzzles. And the visuals are beautiful! I don't know how to find out if you made them yourselves or not – but in any case, they have a vibe of delight and eccentricity! It's minimalist and light. I can see you've worked really hard! It's a shame that I got stuck on one of the levels when the person walked away, and I couldn't proceed because the pumpkin was in my way. I was upset that there's no way to reset the level. I would really like to finish the game completely because the puzzles are super! I've subscribed to you. It would be great to see a full version of this awesome game!

I did not create the assets myself. The page for the game (not the jam submission) has links to where I got everything. I'll update to directly state the creator's names as well.

I definitely see more work on this game in my future. It's been a delight to create and I'm excited to take it further after the jam!

It started off fine with the character swapping mechanic, but after a few levels I got stuck with my characters just spamming random horizontal movements and I wasn't sure how to continue. Felt like a softlock or unexplained mechanic. The biggest fix would be explaining to the player more what to do. Including sound would also be a major improvement.

Developer(+1)

Great point. Thanks!

I liked the graphics, and use of theme. I think that adding some sound would add to presentation- freesound has a nice library of sounds, that are free if you credit the creator.

As for the gameplay. At first I didn't know how the pumpkins affected my movement, but in the end I managed to finish the game.

More levels could be nice :)

Developer

Yeah the pumpkins definitely need to show more clearly what's going on. More levels and improvements to come after the jam!

Submitted(+1)

liked the vibes and assets a lot. the idea is also really cool and the levels that worked were pretty cool. a few things

1. i sadly got softlocked in one of the levels . also cuz theres no restart button i couldnt really do anything about it.

2. it was a bit difficult to figure out how the pumpins work, i think it would be nice to give more visual aid about where can you go with the pumpkins

3. the controls of the spirit were a bit weird, i wish they were a bit smoother

Nice overall :)

Developer
  1. Darn, thought I had knocked out all the soft locks. A restart button is a necessary addition
  2. The pumpkins definitely need more visual indication for what's happening.
  3. I got too used to the feel while playing and almost never changed the controls after the initial set up. Certainly worth reevaluating.

Thanks for playing!
