Simple but surprisingly fun! I feel like the difficulty curve is very well done, and it gets very intense at the end. I got a high score of 5072.

I like when games have a little intro like that, but it would be even better if the style was consistent with the rest of the game. Maybe you could have used the same sprite as in the gameplay animated inside a very short cutscene. Also, I noticed the pixel size is inconsistent in the game, but that's nitpicking at this point.

Overall it was pretty good, especially for a first game jam! Keep it up, and I hope to see you in a future jam!

Gamplay not particulary interresting, and I reeaaaly don't like the use of gen ai

Developer

Thanks everyone for your feedback, we’re really happy to see that you enjoyed the gameplay! 🧡

The disappearing pumpkin was intentional, we wanted to add a bit of tension and make the game harder over time.

As for the visuals, we used AI in the intro mainly as a prototype, and we didn’t take the time to replace those few images, which we should have. Apart from those three images, all the other graphics in the game were fully made by us.
We know it wasn’t the best choice, but it’s something we’ll improve in future projects by creating all our visuals ourselves.

Your comments about the music and sound effects are spot-on, we aimed for something dynamic rather than scary, but we’ll probably add more effects next time.
Thanks again for playing and for taking the time to leave your thoughts — it really motivates us for what’s next! 🎃

The gameplay is really interesting; I liked the concept of having to run away from the killer to survive (well, I wouldn’t say we escape haha, I think surviving for as long as possible would be the right term).

Although I expected at some point to encounter a game with the premise of an infiltrated killer, the gameplay really surprised me. It’s simple and effective, creating the necessary tension to keep us on edge at all times.

Even though I’m terrible at fast-paced games like this, surprisingly, I managed to score an incredible 4692 points. I was even surprised by how long I managed to outrun the killer.

If I may offer a tip regarding the menu—although it’s a subtle detail that doesn’t interfere with gameplay or affect the game in general—if the text color changed based on mouse hover, it would add a more polished feel to the menu. This indicator would be particularly useful if you plan to expand the menus and add more options.

I was going to try and beat my high score, but unfortunately, I won’t be able to. The blur effect during the run caused me a bit of dizziness. I think it would be interesting to add an option to disable it, especially for players who are more sensitive to this kind of effect. I know it’s meant to enhance the feeling of running and speed, but it’s used quite heavily, considering we’re practically running the whole time.

Another interesting idea would be to at least add a power-up, like a stick, so that if we get caught by the killer, we could prevent them from killing us if they catch us at least once, giving the player another chance to escape without losing their current score.

The game is really engaging because of the scoring system. I’d say it’s a great job overall. Congratulations on the game, and good luck in the jam!

Edit 1:

Speaking about immersion and atmosphere, I really liked the sounds used. As for the art, although it was clearly AI-generated, everything somehow felt harmonious. However, it would be interesting to see a more unique identity used in future projects to help differentiate your game.

okay okay okay. So  3600 was my score. Not great but i suck at video games so ya know. Having the pumpkin icon for killer helped I almost had a good loop going. The top down perspective is a good challenge for the game design of the game.
Moving forward: I think you would benefit trying the 45 degree perspective. It may allow for future looking for planning of the killer. Then also you could have more view of a killer like take a concept of seeing a killer smashing a pumpkin path to open up new routes. The juxtaposition of seeing a killer would allow for more intensity or horror from the player experience rather than the icon. I think the game was quite simple to follow and no tutorial was needed which was good. I think you could expand the idea maybe more not even tailor to halloween or this be something like a minigame to something larger like a map exploration of something bigger.

My record was 4264!

I don't know if it was intentional, but after a while I lost the pumpkin icon. I thought I lost him, BUT I DIDN'T :D

I liked the music. Maybe it wasn't creepy, but it fit the fast paced gameplay nicely!

As for the graphics, I'll be honest- I don't love the AI graphics- I'd rather have pixel art style intro, like the gameplay. I think, having your own style, or working with someone else to make graphics for you always beats AI when it comes to the cool factor.

The gameplay was fun- I could see this as a mobile game. Adding the point counter was a cool touch too- I played a game multiple times to beat my score.

Over all- I see this was your firs jam game! First of all- congrats! Finishing a game is not easy, and you made it! My advice is double down on the cool fast paced gameplay, drop the AI, and see you on the next jam :)

I really like the idea of running away while choosing the correct path, it creates tension and keeps the gameplay engaging. The killer that follows you fits the Halloween theme very well. The use of AI for the visual design is quite noticeable, which might be tricky when it comes to rating that category, but the gameplay itself works well and feels fun.

The music doesn’t quite match the atmosphere, and adding more sound effects would really help enhance the experience. At one point, the little pumpkin suddenly disappeared. I’m not sure if that was intentional or a bug, since it showed the killer’s position before.

You did explain how it fits the Uninvited Guests theme, and the killer definitely works as one. Still, a more distinctive or creative twist on the theme could have pushed it even further. Overall, though, it’s a solid and interesting entry with a fun core idea.

Great thematically and the mechanics are nicely fleshed out. I wasn't left wondering at all what I needed to do although I was surprised at dying when I ran into a pumpkin.

The AI artwork in the intro is noticeable and will be a turn-off to some people.

Good effort guys!

I agree that the AI here is tasteless but it's allowed for this particular jam
