The start of something nice here! Camera had a few glitches. I found the SFX for the dialogue to be very distracting; it didn't align with the music very well. The music in the cutscene clipped when looping, either give it some tops and tails or make sure that your end isn't bigger than your start (matching pitch and timbral content helps too). It also didn't tie into the level music very well. After Jack stops being so epic, when he's talking to the kids I would start a new track that's a little more playful. Great job everyone!
I really enjoyed the game even thou it was a short one I did not know that I should move ahhaah but it was fun :D
Thanks for playing the game, I saw the live, and yeah, sorry, I realized after creating the page that I did not included too much info on the gameplay, I will correct that when the jam’s over :)
I wish this game was longer to match its epic soundtrack! I feel like this could be the very very start of something really cool. I also wish I had a chance to properly listen to the main theme all the way through. It did freeze on us once and we got to listen to a lot of it, and what I remember hearing was very good.
The dialogue screen music sets the tone perfectly, and I love the written dialogue that goes with it. The music file clips when it hits the loop; not sure if that's a DAW or a coding issue (I'm gonna say coding). I might put the organs a little lower into the mix; they were very strong for me.
I think the ending theme is a slight remix of the main theme, which was beautiful and very well mixed.
The controls feel slightly clunky to someone who doesn't play games regularly (that's me), and I actually didn't like any of the sound effects, to be honest. But the artwork was amazing and made this little game super unique. I look forward to more things like this and will definitely be following this dev.
Thanks for your review, do not hesitate to take a look also at my team mates pages (Alpha97, KingdomPots, AndrewAlfordMusic). I will tackle the bugs you mentioned after the jam, and we’ll see about an update ;)
I really love the style of the art! Nice work
Thanks, you should check KingdomPots page then, he did all the artwork :)
This was really cute and a creative way to use ChatGPT.
Thanks! Yes, on a short schedule, it can be an awesome tool to spark ideas :). Even though we remade the background to suit our need then.
thanks for the submission! Was all art done using chatGPT or some art done by the team too? Can you include this info on audio and art in the description of your game?
All the characters are hand drawn by me.
Thanks! As Pots said it, everything is hand drawn, except for the background, where I used chatGPT and Gemini to get ideas and have a first draft. Then I recreated it in Inkscape to tuned it exactly to our needs. Sound has been recorded and created by Andrew Alford. Everything is credited in the game, and I added more details in the game page as you requested. I can also provide the svg files I used, along with the output of the AI if you need.
