Game Description
You are a defender of the forest. You may be tiny but you are brave and persistent. Due to the constant rains lately, the log you call home has become covered in fungi that are decomposing your home. Brave forth to chop down enough fungi to save your home from decay!

How does your game tie into the theme?
I chose to think about natural decay. In this game you play as a tiny forest knight trying to save your log home from decay from fungi.

I like fiction for game, living underground and constantly raining make it interesting.

You did great job with that simple mechanic of signs with tutorial information, that's great and simple idea *clap*

I did passed game and had some time, i was just curious what will happen next day. That's nice game loop that keep player engaged.

What i would improve is adding some health bar to mushrooms so i know how much more of axe hits that will last, lack of feedback made me nervous i did something wrong :D

Just keeping less mushrooms would give me more feedback about my progress, but progress bar at top was enough to understand that im doing something in good direction.

Congratulations on your submission!

Thanks so much for the feedback!

The tutorial design is really intuitive, the controls are responsive, and the art is really nice and charming!

Developer

Thanks so much!

I really liked your take on discoverability for tutorials. Whenever I had a thought I don’t know what to do, a sign was right there well placed to tell me. I would appreciate more feedback and indication of how much the mushrooms had left. I also wasn’t sure what the goal was, was it just play as long as you want? I didn’t noticed more mushrooms taking over which could be cool

Developer

Yeah I totally agree. I wanted to add a mechanism in which more mushrooms spawned each day but I ran out of time. I'm really hoping to make a more polished game for the next jam!

Fun little game, I thought the art was really charming! You made the mushrooms the villains tho :( their good for fertility and the soil they don't hurt ya! Lol. But seriously this was a very cute game and it made me happy to play, thanks :)

Developer

Haha so true! I love mushrooms and fungi! I was thinking along the lines of mushrooms decomposing/decaying the log.

My dude has no stamina! This game is very soothing and cute :) The ladder can be quite frustrating at times ^^ The big red mushrooms are a scam! Very well done

Developer

Haha thanks! Yeah if I had more time I definitely could've worked more on the stamina to mushroom ratio.

This game is so cozy! I loved the ambience of the rain and being inside with a little campfire, and living in a log!! Bo is super cute too

One small thing: I really wanted to use WASD to move but could only use the arrow keys. Adding WASD support would be nice for accessibility and is a pretty easy fix

Amazing job on this!

Developer

Oh yeah that should definitely be easy enough to do! Thanks for the feedback!

Bo is so pretty! This art is simple, but has something, you know. Nice. Yes, just nice!
Funny game.
Lack of chop impact, camera shake, some particles. Anyway, good job!

Developer

Thanks so much! Honestly, this is my second jam and I'm really just proud of myself for getting another finished game in by the deadline. And I'm getting so inspired by everyone's different entries. :)

I thought it was adorable- especially the character's face on the "You Win!" screen. The rain sound was very relaxing and created a nice ambiance :)

Developer

I tried writing some music on the piano for this game but I didn't have enough time. I think some light piano would've been a nice accompaniment to the rain sounds. :)

This game is really cute! Love the art style and design for Bo. I also had the same experience with the resolution on the edge browser, but I was able to zoom in and it looked fine :)

How quaint! I really liked how you included the control tutorials in the signposts.

It’s a nice little game, but you didn’t set the correct resolution (it’s still 640x320), so the “play” button is hidden. I had to edit the page code in Chrome (1280x640) to be able to play… =)

Developer

Hmmm that's odd. When I play it in chrome I can see the play button. It's just a small window.

Okay I think I fixed it. Thanks so much for catching this!
